A manual would be the best choice since your dealing with vapor4life. It's more reliable and you can get a better hit since it seems that you get more time since the cutoff is different. With an automatic batter, it can be killed with a single drop of juice that enters the center hole. If your careful with how you fill an automatic then you don't have to worry about that.

Manual all the way. It lets you have more control over your 'hit', and the manual batteries are (generally) sealed, so if juice gets loose, it won't short out the battery. Auto's can also misfire like in your pocket from noise and can be triggered by wind as well.

A push button can get pushed in your pocket or purse also... for a LONG TIME! LOL Just pointing that out because it does happen.

That's how I killed my first two atomizers... I used automatic batteries after that until I got my eGo... Then upgraded that the same day I bought it for a CRV that I can shut off :)

I mainly use my eGo/Riva with manual batteries and prefer this (I like to "pre-heat" my hits for a couple of seconds). But I do have a RN4081 with an automatic which I will sometimes use if I need both hands for something else (woodworking, playing the guitar, etc.). All things being equal, and if you're just gonna have one, go with a manual.

Another vote for manual batteries. Having both, I find that I don't use the autos anymore at all. Mine were very sound pressure sensitive and would turn on by themselves any time I opened my car window, turned on a stereo, stood near a fan etc etc. Couldn't leave a carto attached unless I was actually using the PV. Hopefully they have improved this problem but I'm sold on manuals.

I have an 808 as well. Both have a cutoff time that is nearly identical. I chose the manual becuase I have kids. A button may not be considered a saftey feature, but its one more thing a small child would have to do if I inadvertantly leave my PV laying around. Ive tried the auto as well, but Ive found that Im more comfortable using the manual. And Ive never had an issue with it activating when I didnt want it to.

We have been wanting to quit smoking for a while and nothing seemed to work. We tried the Snus packets, quitting cold turkey, and then finally we tried an electronic cigarette. I admit, the first type we bought wasn't the best quality, but I really wanted to try it and see if it would work before spending a ton of money on one. After using it for a couple of days I realized that mechanically it just didn't work well. The battery never held a charge and the vapor was almost nothing. Then I started hearing bad information about them and finally just quit bothering with it (all the while still smoking a pack+ a day).

I did a little more research recently and learned a little more about electronic cigarettes and decided to give it another shot. We also decided to spend a little more and buy a better quality device. We just started using the Ego 900 this past Sunday (4 part device with rechargeable battery that uses liquid drops). So far it has been working great for both of us. The charge holds for about 1 1/2 days (longer if you don't use it as much as I have been) and the drops seem to last forever. And... the best part... I'm down from a pack+ a day to only 3 or 4 real cigarettes a day. So far... so good.

My question here is... have any of you used this device and, if so, do you have any advice for us? Is there anything we should look out for? Is there a better brand (reasonably priced) on the market? I could see myself completely quitting smoking and going only to vaping and I think we are going to work on cutting out more of the regular cigarettes as well. I'm proud that I have made a pack last (at this point) 5 days... and counting... but it would be nice to not have to buy a pack at all. So... any advice for a vaping beginner?

    Manual

Harder to damage/kill with juice leaks
Won't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration
Easier to get a good hit

You can use a DSE901 standard resistance atomizer and 901 drip tip to test juices - using a drip tip on an atty is not recommend on auto batteries (LiteCigUSA.net has these)

I recommend you try both Vapor4Life cartos and the cartos from SmokelessImage/Bloogplanet/Halocigs G6 which have a bit less hit but an easier more vapory drag

I also recommend you pick up a plastic or delrin drip tip, at Vapor4Life with you kit, or at LiteCigUSA.net where the normal black delrin and clear colored plastic drip tips fit my cartomizers 9the swirly ones are too tight). When you have a carto that is hot on your lips (and those V4: WOW cartos can get hot), use the drip tip as a comfortable mouthpiece instead of the end cap. Don't drip through the drip tip on the cartomizer (juice would aim right for the air channel) but it's a cool mouthpiece and easy to remove when adding juice.

I can get about 7 days use out of Vapor4Life or SI/Bloog/G6 carto. I use a couple of V4L WOW juices (WOWbacco and WOW Vanilla) and other thin clear juices (PG w/ 20% or less VG, often 10% or less, and I avoid juices that drop flavoring sediment in the stuffing)
