I understand your frustration. But trying different browsers helps us to narrow down issues. Is it happening in all browsers, is it happening in most browsers, is it only PC-based, Mac-based, Android, iPad, etc. The forum software is huge and intricate, and the same piece of software can react differently to different browsers. We want to make sure that as many options are working as possible. So we will continue to ask people to try different browsers to see if the issue is replicated (and probably continue to joke about IE).

Just sayin

Sorry guys but a new problem has cropped up for me.

I just finished reading a really long thread. Probably a good half hour to 45 minutes reading. I finish reading and try to navigate the forum, up comes the same screen that was showing when ECF was legitimately down. In other words....I got booted off. Now I do know about the remember me and I do check mark that when I have been having to re-log in after getting this boot several times. Each time this happens, I have to clear cookies and everything, google the ecig forum again and relog in. It will NOT let me log in or give me a normal ECF screen until I clear out all cache/cookies/data. I use Internet Explorer as my browser, if that has any meaning.

(When I closed the forum earlier to go to the store, when I came back and tried to get on, the same thing above happened)

I am on my PC and haven't checked if this issue happens on any other device. I will be seeing if this happens on my iPad.

This is the major problem I have been having as well. I cleared all cookies and all that stuff, did the F5, everything I was instructed to do. If it helps any I am on a PC using Firefox.

Aside from that I just want to say thanks ECF for taking care of us and site security, a little inconvenience is well worth the long term benefits!

I'm having the "first unread message" button problem. It takes me to the first post of the thread. Highly annoying I'm sorry to say. Have tried clearing the history, cookies, etc. Its doing it on IE on a PC, Safari on a Mac and on my iPhone. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Thanks for making me jump back into the thread, only to scramble for the last post and figure out where I left off, only to respond that yes, indeed, I also STILL have the same problem on an iPad running iOS 5, but I got it to remember the new password by resigning in without password, loading me to the full sign in page, where I clicked remember me, and it never asked me again for new password, though I was continually booted off site.

Ps, can't download tapatalk on older version iOS, too lazy right now to upgrade. Also, till I read about the propagation issue (too tired to reconfigure dns settings in router), I finally just got used to waiting 10 minutes or so before page comes back AND DOESN't remember where I was. :vapor:

This is pretty minor, but it could be (?) perhaps an indicator of some kind of crossed ref. in the DB (which is why I'm reporting it):

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...c-us-pa-fl-ga-oh-mi-mn-wi-sd-ok-tx-wa-ca.html

couldn't possibly have gotten 105 views in 2 hours. Those boring old tubs of media reviews get maybe 100 views in an entire day (if that).

(I doubt this could be a browser-specific issue BTW.)

If mega retailers and industries can get hacked, with millions of passwords stolen, I think they can do the same here.
Im looking for a cheap warehouse for sale, preferably furnished with file cabinets... rows and rows of file cabinets to store all of these individual passwords I have accumulated from all the websites telling me to post a unique password different than used anywhere else..

Sonic and Rolygate;

I have the same issue of getting kicked off on my iPad using safari, my PC using IE and Google Chrome. I have not tried Firefox yet. I'm getting smarter and copying my posts that don't get posted so I don't have re type the whole thing.

So far today, I'm able to get back online after waiting a few minutes and then refreshing the page. I haven't had to clear history or data. This is on my iPad. I have not checked my PC yet.

After exhaustive analysis of our servers and the software we use, we believe that what happened is the following: another, well known, website was recently hacked and many thousands of username/passwords combinations were stolen. This is not possible on our platform since password storage is encrypted.

It's possible. There are steps to make it more difficult, and most websites will use those. Hardly any store them with no encryption at all. But the main thing is to keep them away from the file. If they have the file and have a background in hacking, then odds are they'll be able to crack it, especially if all you've done to protect them is basic encryption.

How I became a password cracker | Ars Technica

If all you do is basic encryption, that's very weak. Hashed passwords are stronger. Hashed and Salted passwords are more secure yet. I realize this doesn't mean anything to a non programmer, but the bottom line is "they are encrypted, so they are safe" is not an accurate statement on it's own.

How Your Passwords Are Stored on the Internet (and When Your Password Strength Doesn't Matter)

Forum hacking/password protection/encryption are not areas where I'm a specialist or anything, but I do have a programming background. If I can help with anything, let me know.

I posted this in another thread and was asked to repost it here so,,,,,,,,,,,

It is working better today but still not able to use first unread, goes back to page one, if i use my last post usually takes me no to my post but the page it is on. some times after i post it goes to page one, sometimes not, (only)two or three times i got the boot when I post. very time i get the boot i clear cache & cookies clear history, not sure if I have to but i do. and then it usually takes a few attempts to get back on. I am using safari as a browser and sometimes new password works most of the time its the old one

just wanted to add I am using a macbook, not an iPad to iPhone just in case that info is helpful in any way

I don't think the device is the issue more the browser. I'm using Safari also and I'm not having to clear data or history. Just a few minutes of rest and I can refresh and be back on. Hope this helps you. I hated having to go through the routine of deleting crap.

Just set it down, go do something, come back and refresh. See if that works for you.

OK, if it happens again I'll not clear anything out. And when I do get booted even though I clicked remember me I have to log in again. sometimes old password sometimes new, how are the passwords working for you?
