i have had no problems using ff - i got booted once after i used the link to reset my password but was able to sign right back in this morning and have stayed logged in - never even cleared cookies and cache

Think I will have to wake up hubby and get him to get me on a different web browser and see if that makes a difference :)

Thanks Tib!

now mind you that problem detouring over the first post in a thread while trying to post is the same with ff but at least i'm staying logged in ;)

I would rather live with the first new post problem, or any problem, then having to clear all my history each time I try to bring up ECF!!!! We do need to prioritize our needs, and I needs ECF more than getting to the first new post of a thread

Well I'm not sure how the board is setup, but the gotonew protocol must be set wrong.

If I want the next new post I get this first
e-cigarette-forum. com/forum/site-feedback-help/535932-back-online-gotonew.html

Then gotonew redirects to the last unread post (but the link is wrong)
e-cigarette-forum. com/forum/site-feedback-help/535932-back-online.html#post12437827

then redirects again but goes to the top of the page that the new post is on (because the link above is wrong)
e-cigarette-forum. com/forum/showthread.php?p=12437827

this is the link to go to the last post in this example that is the correct link, notice the page # is not in the link above.
e-cigarette-forum. com/forum/site-feedback-help/535932-back-online-7.html#post12437827

Don't know if this helps in trouble shooting, but it is what I am seeing. I broke the links so they would be visible.

Edit: just noticed if there is only one page, it does take you to the last post, so the page number in my example above could be the problem.

Sorry guys but a new problem has cropped up for me.

I just finished reading a really long thread. Probably a good half hour to 45 minutes reading. I finish reading and try to navigate the forum, up comes the same screen that was showing when ECF was legitimately down. In other words....I got booted off. Now I do know about the remember me and I do check mark that when I have been having to re-log in after getting this boot several times. Each time this happens, I have to clear cookies and everything, google the ecig forum again and relog in. It will NOT let me log in or give me a normal ECF screen until I clear out all cache/cookies/data. I use Internet Explorer as my browser, if that has any meaning.

(When I closed the forum earlier to go to the store, when I came back and tried to get on, the same thing above happened)

I am on my PC and haven't checked if this issue happens on any other device. I will be seeing if this happens on my iPad.

I am having the exact same problem. I cleared everything and opened again with new password. It works fine for a little bit--then boots me off and goes back to the outage message. From that point I can't get on again until I clear everything again.
I am on a laptop computer -- not a pad.
This is bugging me because then I have to go through re-setting other pages that I use that are cleared at the same time.

Robin:

1) Don't use IE :D
2) Some DNS servers may take awhile before they fully propagate to ECF's new servers (DNS matches the "e-cigarette-forum.com" to the actual "IP" numerical address that drives everything on the internet; the IP address changed, so all the DNS servers have to catch up to the address change)

Hopefully that will happen soon for the ISP that you use! Sorry that it's still causing problems for you. :(

It doesn't bother me but figured Id leave it here for anyone who's working on the site....

I get booted back to the first page of a thread when I edit. I have only noticed it when I edit a post so far.

EDIT: wow that was odd lmao I just got kicked back to the first page for the first time after just saying it only happens when I edit lol

Just an FYI...when you change your password, write it down. I forgot my newly set password already DUH! Had to email ECF and ask for a reset...as if they they don't have enough crap going on. So embarrassed.

FYI...this is not a good idea for any password. Most of us have passwords for forums, bank accounts, shopping sites, etc. Every login should have a different password, and they should be changed on a regular basis.
I use KeePass, KeePass Password Safe. This software will store your passwords in an encrypted database on your computer. The database can also be backed up with your regularly scheduled backup.

I too wish to say thanks to ECF staff for addressing the issue and taking the steps necessary to correct it. With a forum this size, that's a rather significant undertaking.

I am also experiencing the minor bugs on this forum, but all but one of mine have been corrected. I didn't clear caches or anything like that. Most of the site works as expected. And I am on relatively old computer, with older OS, and with older version of a browser. Still, site works fairly well considering the significant change that was necessary to invoke.

It's causing problems on my iPad with Safari, Tapatalk......Everything I use! <~~all I can do at this point.
Every 1/2 hour Tapatalk flakes out and I have to clear history etc. uninstall and then reinstall tapatalk.

Sooooo any guess-timate on when these things will catch up to one another? Days...weeks.....months.....years?

Did a hard reboot on iPad and I am back online with safari. We'll see how long this stay lasts. Next stop will be back to Tapatalk reinstalled. Sheesh.

EDIT right after posting the above, I went to check my notifications and that yellow banner came up. I was booted again. That was a new record of ten minutes

Reboot iPad and I'm back in.

First I want to say thank you to the staff for working so diligently to get ECF back up and running. Then, and this is just me being my ornery self, I bet one way to REALLY slow down hackers is if one was allowed to hunt them down and harvest their organs to pay for the trouble they cause.
:evil::evil::evil:
Do I need a license for that?

I really DO NOT understand why - When something goes wrong and problems need to be fixed with the ECF website that so many people are so insistent that people use another browser . . .

PLEASE STOP . . . I - Like others do not want to use another browser or we would have already, especially since from "My" experience there are almost as many problems using one of them as there are with IE . . .

More Importantly - IMO - The problems people are experiencing on ECF are not because someone is using IE . . . Particularly - If "You" read some of the other threads, there are many post with just as many people having problems with the migration of the ECF website as there are people using PCs/Tablets/Mac's and IE, Safari, Chrome, and FF . . . So it seems as though the problems are not with the Hardware or Software on the users end . . . BUT - With what is happening on the ECF website . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)
