There is absolutely nothing more addictive in this world than . . . tobacco TAX revenue.

nope. i just don't believe that folks that have something that important to hide are going to make everything so... transparent. if i were buying someone's vote for my industry to keep thriving, i know for a fact it wouldn't be on the books. how about you? would you rather have the bad press if you had enough money for millions of dollars to slide under the carpet?
Oh, ok. It is all a conspiracy, with suitcases of cash being handed out...
you ever have a job where insurance or political money changes hands? trust me, kickbacks, illegal or not... they make the world go 'round.
I was a staffer for a member of Congress at one time... Other than the odd Dem with stacks of money in his freezer, such things only happen on tv shows or movies...
well, this only proves two things IMO;
1) you and i are from 2 different worlds, and;
2) my trust isn't given. it must be earned.
i must say, #2 is no simple ordeal.
big pharma sits on the FDA board that's deciding how to regulate and tax e-cigs right along side of big tobacco.
let us not forget they both have well groomed, over fed ponies in this race. remember how SOPA got all the press while ACTA was being signed in at a global level? let's not lose focus less we don our blinders and the fast pony sneaks past us....
Really? Big Tobacco has a chair on the TPSAC board? That's news to me...![]()
They are non voting members, just advisors...
The Committee shall consist of 12 members including the Chair. Members and the Chair are selected by the Commissioner or designee from among individuals knowledgeable in the fields of medicine, medical ethics, science, or technology involving the manufacture, evaluation, or use of tobacco products. Members will be invited to serve for overlapping terms of up to fours years. Almost all non-Federal members of this committee serve as Special Government Employees. The Committee shall include nine technically qualified voting members, selected by the Commissioner or designee. The nine voting members shall be physicians, dentists, scientists, or health care professionals practicing in the area of oncology, pulmonology, cardiology, toxicology, pharmacology, addiction, or any other relevant specialty. One member shall be an officer or employee of a state or local government or of the Federal Government. The final voting member shall be a representative of the general public. In addition to the voting members, the Committee shall include 3 non-voting members who are identified with industry interests. These members shall include one representative of the tobacco manufacturing industry, one representative of the interests of tobacco growers, and one representative of the interests of the small business tobacco manufacturing industry.
I know that there are people and organizations opposing politicians on either side of the aisle, whose sole existence it is to dig up scandals. Money under the table is nearly always discovered and rather quickly.
Political donations and lobbyists are a matter of public record; Big Tobacco doesn't even really bother anymore...

^^ EXACTLY!!! ^^
hence the conflict of interest. especially considering our interest and public health.
Which makes it especially ironic when people say "Ohhhh we have to control vaping because nicotine..." but they sell a lot of nicotine and it's hailed as a successful cessation method...
Hmmmm....
Huge conflict of interest IMO but stevegmu is correct also in that sometimes folks take the conspiracy theories to far (Ancient aliens anyone) Here is LORD VISCOUNT RIDLEY telling the House of Lords what the big pharma connection is
look at the politician directly to his left totally disgusted by his every word. that's what we're commonly dealing with. the ignorance that allows that to continue.
I couldn't of said it better myself..i just don't give trust that easily and i've seen money exchange hands for favors all to often. add to that, i don't trust a politician as far as i can throw one.
well... without more detail, let's just say i'm cautious and skeptical of any politicians intentions and motivation.

Roly has a great post here....http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/nicotine/520260-bad-news-about-nicotine.html#post12041775....that lays out what is known about nicotine from long term studies, worth a read...![]()
Interesting read thanks!
I'm so worried about nicotine harming me that I dropped down to about half what I started with and then actually increased it beyond where I started. I just function better with more than less. Simples.![]()
