Just me. And of course all of you online.

Kind of glad in a way, figuring it all out for myself. Some folks genuinely try to help others find what they really want; but too many just try and push what they like. I thought "politics" and "religion" were danger zones until I began lurking e-cig forums. Some people are brutal in their opinions and their criticism of others. Online, it's one thing, and easy to ignore, but if I had human beings around me with some of these attitudes, I would have quickly moved back to Vulcan.

Well said.

<------also Lone Vaper. The BF doesn't count because he doesn't do any research, just snags my juice and gear! Only had Google, ECF, and YouTube as my sources of info.

Tips:
1. As mentioned, get a chargeable credit/debit card
2. Buy samples of e-juice, don't commit yourself to that 15ml bottle that has rave reviews, it might totally suck for you.
3. Go to the ECF thread that is specific to your topper, ie: ProTank 2, Aspire Nautilus. Peeps on those KNOW where these tanks need to be tweaked when there is an "issue"....been there, done that. Have 9 PT2's:blink:

...last, but not least.......

4. There is no such thing as a stupid question!

That's what ECF is for, use it!

As an afterthought:
My experience with PT2's......when you put in a new head, the wick and coil need to be "primed" or you ARE going to get that burnt taste. Put a few drops on the wicks and do some "dry hits" (don't push the button, just suck).
If you are experiencing leaking, add an additional silicone cup on the "stack" above your PT2 head, upside down.
Stock Kanger PT2's are notorious for leaking after the juice gets below 1/3 in the tank, it is what it is.
Try removing one wick, then the 2nd if the draw is limited.
Change the wicks out for cotton...tastes a hella lot better then what Kanger uses. Also lets you get your juice below 1/3 in the tank.
If you get a tad bit frustrated, try building your own PT2 coil....my frustration pushed me to build micro vertical coils..HUGE difference in taste, vape, etc. (I'm now waiting for a Kayfun Lt because I know I can build coils, for me that's moving forward)

I've spent $$$ on stuff that was recommended...it happens when you don't have a B & M or friends/support system around. Now there's a B & M or 2 about 40 minutes away from me, but their inventory of gear is so 6 months ago for me, and the juice I tried from one turned into "meh" for me after I found something else.

As you can see from the responses, you are not alone!:)

Oh, and OP, I taste most of the juice I buy over at Henley's Vaporium in Manhattan. I do it because I'm there Monday through Friday anyway. It's the easiest to get to in Manhattan because it's right at the Spring Street station for the 6 train. You can literally see it once you come up the stairs. They have a tasting bar, cafe, wifi access, and occasionally hold coil building classes.

I know the area well but why does it not come up on google...I go into the city once a week...I grew up just a few blocks away...thank you.

Lone vaper here too, learned everything I know from ECF and YouTube; at this point I consider Busardo, Todd, and Rip to be personal friends although we've never actually met. I was never successful vaping until I discovered ECF and then the collective knowledge of this place helped me make buying decisions that really worked for me. Wish I had a vaping buddy though, it is lonely sometimes...

Fingers are crossed!!! I hope so too!

Thanks for the info...I just got home with 20 mils of some kind of tobacco juice. It will hold me until my stuff arrives. The place was a head shop and the guy knew nothing about vaping. The place is supposed to open at 12 but the guy comes rolling in at about 1. I found a coffee shop to stick around. People next door told me the guy comes in when he feels like it so I took a chance and waited.

I got the job done though. I find it amazing how far behind New York is in vaping. Thank you so much.

OP - I'm in Staten Island. Forget Smoking Kulture. Unless they decided to expand their ecig section, they'll sell you a CE4 for $10. There is a place on Hylan BLvd called Life Made a Little Easier. The guys seem to know what they are talking about in there. They were all vaping rebuildables. They seem to have all of Innokins line of stuff, along with some Kanger and $30 Kayfun and Russian clones if you want to try your hand at rebuilding.

Hi...where on Hylan are they?

Hi there,

I've been reading this thread about all your troubles, and I'm glad you found some juice to tide you over. I'm a newbie, just a couple of weeks in, and have found this forum invaluable for information and just plain old moral support. This is all very new to me, and I don't know anyone who vapes.

I'm older, a grandma, ha! and it's not too likely many of my friends hang out in vape shops. In fact, most of the people I've known for years already quit smoking years ago. I was already a very lonely "smoker", so being a lonely "vaper" is something I guess I expected.:)

A couple of weeks ago, I got my courage up, and went by myself to a local vape shop. It was full of enthusiastic, 20-somethings with purple and green hair, tattoos and lots of body piercings! But, they were so nice and patient with me, and explained everything. I got to try out different juices to see what I liked. I left the shop with a pretty nice ego starter kit and 3 bottles of juice!

I haven't smoked a cigarette since, and have been haunting this board trying to educate myself. So far, it is lots of fun and I'm learning a lot. More importantly, as a former 40-year heavy smoker - I am not smoking! Amazing.

You're awesome and soooo brave. At 38, I'm uncomfy going into some of those places. I even used to be one of those people. Lately, I've been doing online for hardware and diy juice stuff.

do I just buy a pack of camel lights and be done with this.

With or without juice, this thought crosses my mind daily, especially since I'm a camel light girl myself.

Have you ever thought of diy? It's actually turned into my favorite hobby.

I'm not a fan of Halo, except for Tribeca, but I love ry4s. However, I almost don't want to say this because I also find that other people's recommendations are not to my liking.

I've been a lonely vapor from the start. Sure I got others started on it but they come to me to keep them in juice or to ask, "what's wrong with my device." It's not a friendly vapor meet where I get to learn something. I spent alot of time here and on youtube, as well as google looking up devices to try and understand what I could. So don't feel like you're the only lonely, :D there are lots of us. But I don't feel lonely here on ECF, they get it and I'm so thankful for that. I'm glad you can come here and tell it like ya feel and let us listen (read) and try and help ya out, that's what ECF is all about, support. It's just an awesome place. Good luck and Happy Vaping :vapor:

I figured out how many local vapers there are just by going to a local shop that opened in a town right by and hanging out there for a few hours talking with the guy and some people that were coming in and out. Besides that the only other vaper that I know is my best friend. He just uses what works for him...i'm the one who gets really into things and testing things and whatnot. I have to sell him a product like I am a commission based salesman when I find something that is really cool (ie-the VTR...took me like a solid month to tell him that it's a beast of a mod).

I on the other hand, will try everything I can afford and am constantly on the hunt for that perfect vape.

Now my goal is to tell him that rebuilding coils will save a lot more money in the end...

Thanks for the info...I did the diy thing and the juice I made was far worse then what I was buying and that has to be really bad. I only vape 3 juices. I just purchased 5 samples from Hurricane vapor and I have this feeling that they are going to be very good. My reason for this statement was that I purchased a protank 2 from them and they sent me a small bottle of menthol juice.

I do not like menthol but I tried it and if I was a menthol vaper...This would be my all day vape. It was that good. I have real good feelings about this vendor.

I get Zamplebox - and both hurricane flavors I have gotten are just great - I hope you find something you love in the samples!

I am so glad you got juice. Sucks it was a headshop and probably mediocre - but at this point - its definitely better than a pack of Camel lights!

Youve come through many trials and tribulations - dont start tossing money back to BT now!! :)

I hope everything smoothes out and you have happy vaping trails going forward!

Are you talking about Smoking Kulture? Yeah, they know far more about those other kind of vaporizers and less about what we,re looking for. I hightailed it out if there when they tried to sell me a $4 clearo at $15. When he knew he was loosing me, he offered $10 but that was still over double the price of what it's worth. Didn't look at the liquid selection though.

Thank you. I think it helped that I have young adult grandchildren who don't look that different than the people at the vape shop! Still, I had to psych myself up a little before I walked in. I'm so glad I did.

lol...for tobacco there was no selection, there was just one at only 24mg. I paid 16 dollars for 20 mil but it served it's purpose. The guy in there was a real space cadet!

I used to pay WAY too much for my e-liquid, and that alone was enough to make me want to return to analogs, which is why I started searching for a cheaper source to get my juice from. I found a place called Mt Baker Vapor, they're a well-known trusted supplier and their liquids only cost 4.99 for a 15 ml, but the price per ml drops the more you order. For the same 26 bucks you spent on that 30ml you can get 100ml from Mt Baker AND have enough money left over for shipping. They have hundreds (I mean hundreds, no exaggeration) of flavors to choose from and you'll get some free samples if your order is over $15.

If you use the coupon code "vaporfrombaker" during checkout you'll save 10% also, so you can order a ton of flavors for really cheap so that you can find a few that really blow your socks off and stick to those few when you place your next order. Just remember to steep any liquid you get from them, the flavor will be much bolder and delicious... that being said, I can never wait for my MBV juices to steep for very long, they're too delicious to let sit :p
