Another lone vaper here. I have one friend I got semi into it but he still snakes & is happy with an ego & mini Protank. I found a forum eventually that is for the one juice vendor I have found that I like, & the people there are so kind and supportive, I no longer feel completely alone in my vaping. Very diverse crowd in every aspect, including gear they use, but all in it together. I hesitate to recommend anything, as there are already plenty of opinions, but hang in there and you will find a network of folks here. Still, I also really wish I had some peeps around me who were also vapers.

A couple of weeks ago, I got my courage up, and went by myself to a local vape shop. It was full of enthusiastic, 20-somethings with purple and green hair, tattoos and lots of body piercings! But, they were so nice and patient with me, and explained everything. I got to try out different juices to see what I liked. I left the shop with a pretty nice ego starter kit and 3 bottles of juice!

This kinda made me giggle because that was my experience too. I'm 39 years old and when I went to the closest vape shop around 40 minutes away I walked in and everyone was around 21-23. They were all incredibly nice and helpful and the guy helping us had enough patience and knowledge to help my friend and myself find the flavors we wanted.

When I first learned of electronic cigarettes I knew literally nothing of them. My son brought it up one morning and suggest I try it instead of smoking. I halfheartedly said okay, maybe, kinda in a non-committal way. Later that day I was chatting with a friend who lives on the other side of the country and he told me he helped his brother get off cigarettes using e cigs. I was desperate to quit smoking. He didn't know a lot about them but was able to elaborate more than my son and it got my interest.

For the next several weeks google led me to Youtube and also ECF and I lurked for a bit. Tried cigalikes but as I dug further e liquids seemed to offer a bigger variety. Bought a simple T3s and ego battery and branched out from there. All the while I knew absolutely noone who vaped. I tried to get my friend into it instead of smoking but she ran into some troubles. She at first had a sensitivity to PG so I ordered her some 100% VG juice. It got rid of some of the symptoms but not all. I tried to help her with what I knew but she found it easier just to buy a pack of cigs. I'd like to see her quit but I can't force her to.

So here I am by myself again. I have a friend out of state who vapes but knows less than I do. The times I talk to him about vaping, equipment, vendors, flavors and such sometimes I swear I can hear him start to snore :p. But it would be nice wouldn't it to have someone to sit with, have a drink and a nice vape and chat.

You sound very much like me, minus the son. Do animals count? Rocket (the dog) was the one who convinced me since I spent too much time outside and not enough on the couch.

Another lone vaper here, my sole source for learning has been ECF. I don't like spending 20 minutes watching one YouTube (and watching the host wax poetic about this or that, and watch him/her take a 10 second drag and ponder the taste). Just doesn't do it for me. I live with long-term boyfriend who is a smoker, who has smoker friends, but they're the only smokers I know and none of them have the slightest interest in vaping.

So, I hang out here, have gotten some great information just by reading lots of threads, and I have a "home thread" where 8-10 members post regularly. Everything I have learned about devices, how to build, dry burn, or how to avoid the pitfalls of any vaping apparatus has been here.

I also wish I had someone to vape with--I think it would be much more fun. But I consider the time I have spent here invaluable, and I don't think I would have come this far without the friends I've made on ECF.

I'm a lone vaper too, and an over 65 granny. First time I went into our local vape shop, which had just opened, all I saw were the younger set as well, but since then I've seen older folks including older women. The folks who own and who work in the vape shop are so friendly that I doubt anyone who goes in there feels very self-conscious though. I'm so happy to have quit smoking easily with vaping that I don't care anyway!

I had started out trying cigalikes, which weren't cutting it for me. Had never heard of "vaping" until going online to research for a better cigalike - and found ECF. Thank goodness for a great forum - you are my support group and vaping companions, not to mention teachers in all things vape!

From another lone vaper: I've found it invaluable to visit vape shops and speak to the staff. Some have no idea what they're talking about, but most do. I can't visualize how to fix something if I'm reading directions on a screen, but most things are quite simple when you see it being done in front of you. Also, any good vape shop should have an extensive tasting bar where you will be able to sample liquids using a variety of devices.

The first time I heard about vaping was from a NYT article talking about how awful it was. It was kind of a case of 'they protest too much' and I had to find out more. ;)

Other than people I had introduced to vaping, I never saw or heard of anyone else doing it to get off the cancer sticks. All of my contact with vapers had been online, and like the OP, limited to videos, reviews and ECF, most of which gave glowing reviews to every single e-liquid flavor out there when on my palate, the stuff tasted like a chemically sweet saccharine mess.

I don't even want to go into how much money I blew on trying literally hundreds of e-liquids before I finally isolated the flavoring ingredients that tasted horrible to me.

For me, high percentage PG liquids are a total waste of money. The flavor is sharp and chemical.
Any e-liquid with sucrolose in it is a definite no go. It's so chemically sweet it turns my stomach on the first drag.

I now know which vendors have the high VG, low added sweetener combo I prefer. It was an expensive and lonely journey to get there.

Still cheaper than chemo, though. *shrugs*

lol...for tobacco there was no selection, there was just one at only 24mg. I paid 16 dollars for 20 mil but it served it's purpose. The guy in there was a real space cadet!

"Like duuude.... Have you like, tried the Pax? Like, that thingrocks man... Oh, you only want nicotine? You should quit that dude. **** is like, sooo much better. Hey, we got a pen shape that'll vape like the pax but not as good if you want something smaller. Way great with h***."

Yeah... E-cigs are definitely not a focus there. All things considered, I don't think much of anything comes into focus for many of their employees...

:toast: Lone vapor here too!!!

I was pretty much a closet (PAD) smoker because the only other person in my life that smoked was a boss that I no longer work for. I decided to try vaping for several reasons and am doing that alone as well. I've since convinced my ex boss to give vaping a try...hoping to have a partner to commiserate with, but he's just not that into it.

As for B&M's around here: There is one that is semi local but it's pretty barebones. The juices aren't very good and it's just a store rather than a lounge type place. There are two more a little further away, and one of these days I will try them out.

Thankfully, I found ECF and have learned a lot about what equipment to buy; what juices to try/skip; and moral support!

Take a deep vape inhale and a long exhale.....the great people here at ECF will help you avoid all the frustrations along the way. Just ask when you have a question...no question is too silly or too "noobie".

Really, I'm a lone vapor of a sort. I turned my husband, mother in law, sister, and sister in law onto if but I'm their go to person for issues unfortunately. I guess it was bound to happen. I'm their go to person for computer issues as well despite having no formal computer related education myself. I'm computer literate. That's about it, but that's more then they are. Seriously, when one calls me with an issue the first thing I ask is if a) the computer is on and b) if the computer is plugged in. 80 % of the time, that's the issue. So sending them to ECF is kind of out of the question. I'm not sure they know what Google is, let alone navigate a forum. My husband is better, but forums aren't his thing and neither is fiddling with gadgets. He can at the least, change his own coils now even if he doesn't know how to dry burn yet. He switches them through the week as needed, and on weekends I clean and dry burn the ones he took out. He switches his mothers out when needed as well and I clean hers each week too.

My sister is a bit more Internet savvy, but she isn't 18 yet and shouldn't be buying stuff for herself. My mother allows her to vape because her friends buy her cigarettes anyway, and at this point my mother decided to go the harm reduction route. She tried everything else. Gum, patch, and even sending her out of state for the summer to stay with my other, adult, sister and her family. As soon as my sister came back home she had a pack of cigarettes. Short of locking her in her room per neatly and home schooling her, she'll find a way to smoke. She will not help my sister restock, though she did buy her her first set just to get her off cigarettes. I've been buying her replacement parts and juice and sending it to my mothers house in my name. She can lie about her age on these sites of course, but I'd rather not have her place those vendors at risk. She links me to what she wants and western unions money to the pre paid card I use for online purchases exclusively, and I place the orders for her. Not an ideal situation, but the alternative is smoking.

My mother in law is completely helpless. She's also going blind, to make matters worse. There is no way I can leave her to her own devices. Smoking is accelerating the macular degeneration as well, so my husband and I have taken responsibility to get her set up to vape, maintain her equipment, refill her tanks, and stock her liquid. She absolutely can not do this herself, and she absolutely MUST vape more and smoke less. Getting her off nicotine entirely would be ideal, but at this point, her doctors are thrilled she's cut as much as she did with vaping already and have told my husband to oversee her vaping situation and keep her vaping.

Lone vaper here as well. I can understand some of the frustrations of not getting personal advice on e-cig devices, tanks, juices, etc. But I solely believe that doing your own research online is the best place to start. And this is not just for e-cigs too.

For me I've started vaping for a week now. All the equipments I bought were based on what I read here in ECF and youtube reviews. So far I've been frustrated with the protank 2 leaking, so I bought a Nautilus that will come in next week. If that crap leaks too, I will look into expensive rebuildables. But whatever the problems are, it is still worth it since it's keeping me off those Marlboro lights.

This juice is killing me...it is that bad...if I ever run out again, I will go into the city. My juice would have arrived today but it is a Holiday. I have to suffer with this stuff for another day. God, is it awful...lol...there is nothing worse than vaping a bad juice for 2 days straight.

I used to be a lone vapor, had one friend who was interested but I am his resource. Did end up getting aquainted with several local b&m's so I am not so lone anymore but I don't frequent them as I have finally found what works perfect for me but it has taken $200+ in crap equipment to get there. I wish I had just started with a mech+rba from the beginning but I didn't even know they existed until I signed up here.

Go to Life Made a Little Easier. Really, they have a far better juice selection. You may not be able to try it, and it may be pricey, but it's at least decent, well known juice. Right on Hylan so a bus should get you there no problem. It also isn't there focus, but they were friendly to me, seemed a lot more "with it" and were all vaping happily away on Krackens and Kayfuns. Until Vapr World opens, I think Life Made a Little Easier is the definable go to on Staten Island.

As for Vapor World, I shot them an email last night asking for an open date. By the latest it'll be te end of the month. Earliest could be this week though, depending on some shipments I believe. They will focus on Innokin products mainly for mods, but will have toppers from various manufacturers. I sent them a link to IBTanked in the hopes that they'll stick on cartotanks for me, or at least prepunched carts.

Thanks...I will give them a try. Also, that place in Manhattan...they seem interesting.

You are lucky, I spent at least a 1000 my first 3 months mainly on juices recommended as great...they were not even decent.

I've never even seen a b&m store let alone been in one. I bought one of those smoke everywhere kits years ago about 200 bucks back then. It sucked out loud. So I smoked for a another year (about 35 years total). Depressing to say the least. Silly me I tried another cigalike which worked better but still not very good. Now i'm down 400 bucks with carts juice and crap then the ego and as bad as they are the t3 turned me into a non smoker. I moved to rebuildables since then and a simple smoktech sid. I wish I had some guidance durning any phase of this but sadly not the case. So the bottom line is everyone takes their lumps but its a worth while venture. ECF and youtube are my only help and I thank you all.

Apparently there are more of us out there than you think lol. I don't have many friends/family who have any interest at all. I finally got one friend to try my juices for me just for some form of feedback, and although she claimed one of them as an ADV, she still smokes and has no plans on quitting.

I've never been in a B&M because there are none in my neck of the woods, and I've never bought/tried any of the juices everyone rants and raves about on here. I started with nasty one note flavors I got from the tobacco shop in town for about $7/10ml, then after joining here and learning about DIY I started making my own so that I'd never have that issue of running out of something good to vape.

Almost everything I know about vaping I've learned from ECF and I consider the community here my vaping friends/family lol. :)
I did find someone who holds monthly vapemeets about 45min from me and I look forward to meeting some people there, but my last two plans fell through so I haven't made it to a meet yet.

Sooooo, I'm still a lone vaper. But I'm happy to have everyone here to discuss my "lone vaping" with. ;)
