Just a newbie here wanting to thank you for the incredible timing of your mod. I have been reading this and relative threads, since I had some of these foam sleeves on hand (own the filter they run on) I gave it a try. Much better than the factory carts that came with my unit.

I have just been cutting the foam into a near cube with the smallest dimension being the thickness of the original sheet. Using a toothpick I cap the top of my 501 cart and it works great. For what it is worth I am using litecigUSA liquid but being a newbie I don’t know if it is considered thick or thin.

I feel comfortable that if this material is safe enough for my fish and live coral it should be safe enough for me.

I've seen this in the top of the thread list lately but was busy on a couple of projects to look. I've read it all.....interesting threads should be read to see how you get to what you jumped into.
Looks like it does work. I'll have to give this a shot. Been doing the PTB. To many small topoffs if not readjusted alot but works well.

Over cutting the size for the single layer will work if the sides are cut tapered. The widest part of the taper is thinner and will compress forming a good seal while leaving the middle virtually uncompressed.;)

As I read the thread all I could imagine is that the Slug is really a custom fitting edobit!
Basically a constant feed sponge type of unit. No reason it shouldn't work well.

Nice job and follow up.

Thanks for the tip! May look into that later on. It would be tough to perfect the angle cut though i'd expect. Just adding another layer on top for thin juice seems perfect though.. so good i've been using the same plug for almost 2 days now! heheh.

great mod works like a champ, i have found that if you start with a new or clean 1/4 by 3/4 plug ,it just keeps on going,an going ,an going,an going.the foam has to breath to let fluid to the atty if new or clean you will get all that is there to get,so clean after 2 laps or cut a new one.510 and just puffing along thanks for the tip it does work!!!!!!!

Have not noticed that prob with NEEDING to use a new piece all the time. I've been using the exact same plug since i figured out to add another thing layer on top for thin juice. That may change though when i finally get some new thick juice.

I use the SHAM WOW when I am stuffing carts. Holds lots of juice ..

Funny, i've only heard bad things about the sham wow. Yeah holds alot of juice but so adsorbent that it wont give it up, so no wick!

I would like to say that yesterday was a new experiance for me. No messing with carts.. No stressing about what size or what to use. For the first time since i've been vaping now (about 6 weeks or so) i've just had the same cart with the same filler and vaped normally. No probs whats so ever! If it was low and i was in a hurry i just top the cart off like i used to do with the poly. If i had time i'd pull the plug out and fill'er up.

I was using both version 1 and 2 in 2 PVs. I was soooo relaxed that i passed out around 11pm lol. I'm normally up till after 2am.

Loving it guys! Oh and its nice to just grab my PV and just hit away in the morning without rushing to make a new cart and fill it up. :D

Glad you like it! Honered that your first ever post is to comment on my cart mod :).

Feel lucky my friend that you missed all the stress and hassel messing with this and that cart material and found the answer early on! hehe.

Hey eclypse,

When you fill your 510 round carts how many drops of liquid can you put into the cart?

Kevin

Every dropper size is different so its tuff to judge by my size.. that why i mentioned to just fill to the upper lip and add the plug, then add another drop or 2.

I use the small plastic dropper bottles from Totallywicked-eliquid.com. hate them but its all i got atm. Also i've noticed that the size of the drop also depends on how hard i press as well.

Anyways, its a full cart. I just would'nt fill to the top and then add the plug. Then your looking to waste juice soaking the excess up off the plug with a paper towel.

I know i can add 3-4 drops when i top off before it pools.. so i guess it could be more then 1-2 drops after inserting the plug.

So if i was blind or in the dark.. i'd be feeling for 9-10 drops and another 2-3 on top after the plug. hehe.

I just dont like to flood the atty as you'll get a mouth full of juice and it wont vapor right till it burns it off. Now if its a dry clean atty, as in i recently cleaned it, i'll have a nice and soaked plug for the atty hehe.

Today i went to pull out my plug and clean it (For the hell of it). Nightmare.. Took some liquid hand soap and rubbed the plug in the soap to give it a good clean. Then I was holding the plug in my fingers while rinsing it out under the fauset. While doing the scary thought of the panic if i would lose it in the drain if it came out of my finger tips. Well what do you think happend next???

Yup! Gone.. Down in the drain it goes! Started to panic while trying to calm myself down thinking i can just grab another random plug and not worry too much about the size as my prob was SOLVED with the added thin extra plug piece on top.

Welp, gona have to test it and see! hehe. Grabed one and slapped it in there and put the extra thin layer on top and inserted it.

Had to split to the post office and no time to mess around as i had to be back in less then a half hour.

Got in the car and no leakage.. hit just fine as well. :) All is well.. Glad it was fine as i was starting to think i had another magical plug in the cart and i should be pulling it out to measure it. Didnt want to go in the drain to pull it out to measure it lol. Well i would of if the new one leaked! lol.. :p

Remember folks.. Thin juice needs an extra tiny thin piece from a plug on top to help compress the plug so it wont leak. If you dont know if you have thin juice or think.. well no worries. If it aint leaking, dont worry about it you must of thick juice!

I had given up on carts but this one I would so like to try. Problem is, i can't find anyone selling this who is shipping internationally with a reasonable price. Anyone know a site that does this or any alternative materials i could try? I doubt that they sell this stuff at the local shops.
Bring a picture to an pet store that sells fish - even better, to a store that specializes in aquariums. This "pre-filter for a cartridge filter" is fairly typical stuff in an aquarium store. They'll have something similar. You don't need the *exact* stuff that eclypse posted. Similar stuff will work, as long as it's fairly close.

You may need to tweak the plug until it works correctly with you and your juice.
If the plug goes dry and there's still juice in the cart, then make the plug a little smaller.
If the atomizer constantly floods, then the plug is too small. Throw it out and start over.

I'm going to get some of this blue foam filter and give it a try. Right now I am using the RSP and using the stock filler as a plug. Going to do some experiments of my own. Looks like the object of these cart mods is the same. Get the most juice into the cart and at the same time have a leak proof system that allows you to easily vape all the liquid out of the cart. Looks like all your hard work has paid off.

Thats what i try to tell my wife.. So thinks i'm crazy spending all this time messing with it and too much money. Explained to her that i only gota go threw this once. Its prob the same for everyone that vapes. Once you get it down you can spend less time messing with it and start using it like it was intended from there on.

Are you sure you're supposed to insert it like that? Seems to me the the atomizer bridge would melt the flat edges. I realize the shape of the white line in there, but its also way smaller. Ive never had any melting problems though, which is a good thing, but also cant verify when it does melt.

Quick question.. first few days on this mod were great, but lately (yes I have changed plugs as after a while I notice they just need to be changed in my case at least) I get a lot of gurgling in my cart (but NOT the atty) and a mouthful of juice (that sounded horrible heh heh) any ideas? Am I cutting the plug too small? To repeat I haven't had the gurgling sound in the atty like I used to when I flooded from dripping, just lots of juice in the air pockets in my carts..

I would think that with it the other way as the obviously inside the white part is where the heat is with the coil. If you would turn it the other way the walls of the cart would be right across the white part.

Well that sounds strange.. Might just be water drops left over from the vapor. Meaning moister from the vapor. It will collect in the 2 traps at the end of the cart as its made for it.

I'f you never blow that out from time to time i guess it would collect enough for you to suck it into your mouth.

Blow it out.. Take the cart off the atty and blow threw the back side (mouth end) into a paper towel and it will blow out most of the fluid trapped in there out the top of the cart where the vents are next to the inner chamber. If its clear color then its water vapor.. if its light brown its juice.

If its juice.. then yeah try a hair bigger plug.
