I would think that with it the other way as the obviously inside the white part is where the heat is with the coil. If you would turn it the other way the walls of the cart would be right across the white part.
I just recently started using 510 carts. Blue foam is the best filler I've tried. The problem is-no matter how I position the cart, flat edges get melted and I can't figure out why.

What I have done now is to cut a plug that is 1/4" X 1 1/4". I fold it into 3 part instead of two. This seems to be a lot better but will have to see if it works long term. What have you done eclype to strenthen the plug and still make it vape well?

Kevin

All i need to do is what i listed for an update to version 1. Just cut a thin layer off another plug and put it on top of the plug in the cart. No leakage period and it vapes perfectly. Been using that for prob 3-4 days now while i'm waitin for my thick juice from nhaler to come in. Was hoping it would show up today but nope. Hopefully it will hit Monday when i'll have plenty of time to mess around with it.

Version 2 worked great for thin as well.. but for some reason i like version 1.1 hehe.

If you make the plug too thick the wick will run too lean and wont wick good.

Like i said.. cant wait to get the thick juice so i can see how its working like for most of you.

Though, i'm wondering if its really as good as most have said as i see people that said it was great but for some reason there still looking for better.. Personally, i'm done searching as this is working perfectly for me. What more could someone want? Empting a full cart everytime and its not leaking. Wicks like you would want, so good that you dont need to hold the button down as long as you normally would or you'll take too big a hit.

If your is leaking then you need to make it a bit bigger or your just not cutting the foam flat and straight and cutting it on an angle which is making it smaller.. or your just not getting it in the cart nice and flat.

Mine is not leaking at all.. so much so that sometimes if i let it sit for a long while and start puffing it will seem dry. But, i just need to give it one firm puff and it primes the wick and i'm back in buisness. That would'nt happen if it was leaking.

Oh, today i was walking around an outdoor mall near me for a couple of hours and vaping away no probs! Big clouds of smoke from my Protege. :) I hear its gona be a fog machine with the new thick juice from Nhaler. hehe. I'll probably have to hold back a little next time in public or i'll really be drawing alot of attention to me.

First thanks for all the suggestions.
I tried the spring method and wasn't all that happy with the metal part, but might try again if I ever come up with some plastic ones.
Felt a little better about the straw. I went looking for the blue foam to use as the plug but WalMart didn't have them. I found the facial sponge (which I felt a little better about because it's white---don't know why, just do).
The biggest problem was the liquid coming out too fast and causing flooding. So, in the end, I went half and half with the straw and the sponge. Straw on bottom, next the sponge. Still flooded the atty so cut back the sponge and filled the void with a thin layer of cotton from a sterilized facial cleaning pad.
It seems with all my mods, I always get back to using the cotton topper. It's soft and absorbs, holds the liquid.

I used my mod that's powered by a Wall Wart so it's my high volt (actually amp) mod and the cart lasted a couple of hours. That's with me sitting at the computer puffing pretty constant on it.

I am using the version 2.0 with a lot of success using my own custom juices. I use 30% VG plus 10% everclear alcohol. Works just perfectly. When I use commercial PG juices I have to cut the plugs 1/4" X 1 1/4" and fold the plug in thirds. This gives enough density to hold back to juice and doesn't leak. This knowlegde should be included in your documentation. Users who are using thin PG based liquids will have problems stopping the cart from leaking. It's possible that the extra thin layer on top may be required. Also a thin layer of the stock filler may work better.

I will have no problems at all using version 2.0 because I will always mix my own and use VG to cut the nic juice down.

Everyone will have to adjust the density of the plug based on whichever juice viscosity they are using.

I cant edit the first post anymore.. Have to ask a mod to do it for me.

I did add a note to the top of the version 2 plug about the fix with version 1.

I tried adding a thin layer of poly to the top of the plug long ago as i had leakage figuring out the right size. Didnt work good at all for me. Infact i could'nt handle the poly taste after using this for a few days hehe.

I remember not liking poly at first but i guess you get used to it after a day or 2. Adding the poly seemed to help hold the juice too good and not wick. Prob what was happening was that the poly dried out real quick and i was getting that burnt poly taste. If the poly ran dry the fluid behind it wont follow. Just like how if you just use polly or anything else.. The juice gets stuck down in the cart while the top part is dry.

I think the plug should be one piece ideally. Theary is that the top must stay wet at all times for the fluid behind it to follow. If the top dries the juice wont flow.

Think of it like this.. picture an inclined object, book or board. Now drip some water on the top and it will run down. Now drip again and it will follow the same path as the water line before if it touches the same line... Point is that if the top part is dry the juice below in another object will just sit there and not flow to the atty.. just rambling i guess. hehe.

No need to panic.. when i get my juice Monday (HOPEFULLY!) i'll get a real good idea how well its working for everyone else.. I still have 6 30ML bottles left so its not like i'm not gona mess around with the mod for both thick and thin juice.

It is nice to finally hear from other people with thin juice and see that there having a hard time getting it to not leak like i was.. thats why version 2 worked great to stop the leakage with my thin juice (PG Only). 3/4 length by 1/4 was good... i used a tweezers to help push the 2 halfs apart in the middle so there would'nt be too thick where it hit the atty. Cause if its too thick it will seem to run dry (lean).

I agree with you. The density of the plug can be varied acording to the viscosity of the liquid. I like the blue foam material because it will not sag and form around the bridge as the polyfil will. It seems to always spring back to it's original shape.

When you get the more viscus nic juice you will have to loosen up your plug to get it to wick properly. For my custom mix the version 2.0 works perfectly on my Protege.

none of mine have melted since I have positioning them correctly
:thumb:
Now that you have mention it, none of mine have either.

The flat side (of the flat carts that is) just don't take that heat coming off the atty in that empty space anymore.

...and I just bought a crap-load of new carts because the heat was shrinking 'em, so I was pitching them.

the sizzle is GREAT! The gurgling is bad!
I have one atomizer that sizzle-gurgles when it's working correctly, which - luckily - is almost always. But I switch between 2 PVs, and every once in a while I forget, and I curse the flooded atty when I hear the sizzle-gurgle. And I blow it out, curse it, re-prime, curse again, drip... and it sizzle-gurgles again, which makes me realize that I just wasted a bunch of time clearing an atomizer that wasn't flooded. So I curse again.

Are you cleaning out both baffel chambers on the cart?

Yes, elcipse is right. You have to align the cart with the coil in the white tray. That's where the super hot coil wire is located. If you don't you will melt the cart on the flat side.

Kevin

Thanks, i had to make sure b4 i start trying it on hv. I guess the mesh wick doesnt get as hot as the coils then right?

That's right the the mesh wick doesn't get very hot.

Oh yeah. When I first started I was a master at flooding an atty. I learned how to be a master at clearing them.

I forget sometimes about the second baffle. I'll clear the outer baffle go back to vaping and the gurgle will still be there, clear the second baffle and no more gurgle.

Last night I did the leak test on the version 2.0 plug using my juice, no leaks.
