eclypse,

Just wanted to pipe in hear and personally thank you for the time you've spent on everything you've be experimenting and ammending with on this apparently simple and easy use filler mod option !!

I hope that when you have personally "perfected" it (Ha ! not likely, since you don't seem like the type to let a good thing lie still, lol), that you'll create a .pdf for those who wish to download and/or print it. OR, at least create another thread with "ONLY" the relevent final info and pics so we may "sticky" it and "close" it from discussion here on ECF as a reference.

I've finally found a local petshop (to me) that carries the "exact" product your experimenting with, and will be going to pick some up today or tomorrow with hopes of "finally" having the satisfaction of my ecig use, both 3.7v AND especially 5v, that I feel is missing.

Again..... THANK YOU for your efforts on this !!

VapeOn,
Greg

:) No prob! Glad your gona give it a try. Let me know how you like it. .PDF file would be smart as i could have a link for it in my sig. That way everyone could just get the latest info insted of hunting threw the long thread for it.

Does this this foam mod work better than the PTB mod?

Pretty confident you'll forget about the PTB stuff all together. ;)

I think the tag line the "Search Is Over" is very appropriate. I have tried every mod for the 510 cart. PTB, Spring, Straw and 2 days ago I got the blue filter from my local pet store and so far it is working great. No mouthfuls of liquid, no leaks, no flooding and consistent vapor all the way through the last drop. As of yet I see no burning or melting of the material and it makes Dawn's juice taste great.
Thanks for all your efforts.

:) Good to hear! Thanks.

can you get this foam at wall-mart?

I believe someone mentioned not finding it at Wall-mart before.. but who knows.. could of just been sold out! hehe. I remember looking threw Wall-Marts over a month ago for that Fluval stuff one late night. The same night i was buying up PTB and coffee filers and straws and even wool hehe. Could'nt find the Fluval as i didnt know what it was at the time but i do remember seeing lots of different filter material there so i think theres a chance you'll find it.

My local Wall Marts (Ottawa) didn't...... and I asked a merchandiser to check for MarineLand brand on their system, but she said there were no records of that one in particular.

So, I moved on because I didn't want to 'play' with anything else than was used here in this thread.

But, Petsmart stocks this brand and specific foam regularly.....

Looking forward to trying it !!

Greg

eclypse!

Thanks for the updated, new, improved version of the blue foam mod. I love it, love it, LOVE IT! I didn't think the "plug" could get any better - but the "slug" is...AWESOME! And thanks for all the time & attention you've spent keeping us posted on your experiments & results.

I've passed this mod on to the vapers I know around here - some love it, some prefer the polyfill. The breakdown (an admittedly very small response - sampling of 4) - those of us who smoked full strength (or, Camel straights, here - tho I switched to filters a few years ago) - love this mod. Those who smoked lights tend prefer the lighter, "airier" draw of the polyfill. The tighter draw of the slug gives me a richer vape and more of a throat hit, so it's much better for me. And, the other upside is, the cart absolutely goes dry - and I know immediately when to refill, because it goes from juicy to a slightly, but identifiably dry taste in just one hit. I might be dreaming here, but I think it's doing a much better job of keeping my attys consistently moist. I think the original blue foam plug might give the "airier" hit for a lights smoker, with the same advantages of vaping beautifully, much longer vaping time & draining the cart. Or a smaller version of the slug might have the same effect. Anyway, the concept and design definitely works, whatever your comfort level with the draw - very small adjustments to size of the "slug" I think can adjust you to what draw works for you. Great mod. Love it.

Thanks for all of your experimentation, creativity, and the work you put into posting great, detailed, verbal and graphic step-by step detail for all of us. I REALLY appreciate it.

Wow, thanks for the response! :thumb:

Very interesting stuff.. wish i could hear more like it from others. Funny you mentioned the slug mod as i've been using the plug all day and have been itchin to try the slug to see if its any different as i remember getting some good THs yesterday when i was first testing out the new thicker juice on 3 different carts and one of them had the slug in it. All day today i did not notice any throut hit using the plug. Just was switching to the slug when reading your post hehe. Theres that TH! :) hehe talk about perfect timing.

Thats cool that you had some people you know try it out and see what they thought. Poly-fil? Ok.. well everyone likes something different i guess hehe. Well i have a mod for poly-fil as well that you can show that person.. 510 cart vent mod.. Polyfill works great now!

Its been used on the 510 but may work on others. Just remember.. no 2 holes, just the 1 hole and i'm talking very very small. use the smallest pin you can find. The holes in the pic are way too big. You want the hole half that size smaller or more. The hole just releaves the air pressure so the juice will flow to the atty. That way you wont have anything trapped in the bottom of the poly as usual.

Glad i could help! :)

.......NIT! I just made a HUGE post and its gone. :( :( :( :( :( Go and hit sumbit and i see an error! Hit the back button and its gone. Thanks forum!

No time.. but for thicker VG juice, use a thinner plug cut 3 16ths wide and 5/8" long.

Now enjoying lots and lots of flavor i was missing before using the slug!

Sorry.. just started testing the slug late last night with the new VG juice.

Damn i had a long good post.. :(

I'll have to re-write the new findings later on tonight when my wifes gets home from work... No time right now with the 8 month old crying in the back ground hehe.

Just got done and emptied a cart and YES the cart is empty and had awesome flavor all the way threw to the last drop unlike before with the slug at the normal size with the thicker VG juice.

Awesome AWESOME! lol.. cant wait to try all the flavors out again.. i got 12 and maybe got another 3 in the mail today so.. :)

EDIT: Make those slugs 3/4" long. Doing the 5/8" will end up leaving alot of juice in the tank as the slug isint making good contact with the atty. First time thats ever happend! hehe.

Will test again tonight with it at 3 16ths wide and 3/4 long.

Has anyone tried this with a DSE 901? And if so, what are the cutting dimensions. And for VG liquid as well.

EDIT:

I'm confused if the 901/510 flat tip carts have the inner lips like the 510 round on the inside or not.. Tell me or post a pic of what the inside of a 901 looks like and i'll let you know if it will work or not.

What a difference with the new slug at a slimmer size using thicker VG juice. Damn its awesome! Night and day difference!

Edit: SO DAMN GOOD NOW THAT I CANT PUT IT DOWN! <-- not a good thing hehe.

I think i'll need to get a special order of 6ml NIC juice or no NIC or my tolerance is gona go sky high.

Parlines and Cream.. WOW, i'm in trouble. Only got a 6MG trial bottle of that stuff! hehe.

I NEED ME SOME HIGH VOLTAGE to seriously bring out these flavors.. hehe that might be over kill but thats what people say about high voltage. 5+ volts for fruity flavors and 3.7v for tobacoo.

Oh wait! Maybe they just need to try "The Slug" v2.1. hehe

Another EDIT: Just noticed that i did put 3 16th - 1/4" for the width on the slug. :) The slug i was using last night was 1/4 wide x 5/8" long. So thats good.. hehe. The instructions are still correct. Just need to add stay at 3 16th for thick juice and 1/4 for thing PG juice. Sucks i cant edit the post.

EDIT: Make those slugs 3/4" long. Doing the 5/8" will end up leaving alot of juice in the tank as the slug isint making good contact with the atty. First time thats ever happend! hehe.

Will test again tonight with it at 3 16ths wide and 3/4 long.

I think a "find" to get this material to work in the whistle tip 510 is in order..... I really hate the hard plastic feel of the round tips now after switching to the whistle one.

Geeze, I want it ALL don't I ?? lol

VapeOn,
Greg

Is it that the whistle tips don't have a shelf, Greg? If that's the case, I wonder if adding the straw to prop up the plug or slug would work. All my 510 carts are round - I'll have to find some whistle tips to see if I like them more.

I have the 510 whistle (flat) tip and they do have the ledge, so it should work.

Scottbee uses the blue stuff with the spring in his 901 and others use the straw to hold up the plug with success.

Interesting stuff... I personally have never owned the flat tip 501/901 carts so i'm just going off what people tell me and i was told early on in this thread or the other one that the flat tip did not.. i guess its possable that the person had no idea what we were talking about hehe.

I would of ordered the flat tip carts long ago if i would of known.. i guess i'll put it in the next order.

On another note the original plug is still solid.. No need to change it. The whole problem was my inexperiance with thicker VG juice. I had a feeling when i first got the stuff there might be a prob with it being cold. I've read in the past that VG hardends up when cold and some people warm it up to get it looser.

I was wondering when i first got the stuff, how can i shake it up as its so thick?? I beleive what i was experiancing the first 2 days was cold "Thick" seperated juice. On day 3 the juice finally loosend up alot.. i guess it finally got to room tempature! lol. Now i can shake it up just like the PG juice and get it to the natual mixture/flavor it was ment to be. lol..

Live and learn i guess!

Funny how i had a member PM be about a week ago telling me that if i want to thickin up my juice, put it in the fridge for 20 mins and the stuff will just stay thick forever! That didnt work with the PG stuff.. Though i KNOW forsure it will work with the VG juice! lol.

I guess not forever.. just days!

Heres the one who mentioned that the flat tip 510 carts do not have the inner lips in them.

Ok eclypse, I would like to try this mod but a couple questions:

- Only have a petco nearby and what I see is that I don't think they carry the exact 'Marineland' brand of U filters, I did find a
http://www.petco.com/product/2792/Rite-Size-Bonded-Filter-Sleeves-for-Magnum-Models-220-and-350.aspx

hope that is the same.

Also about the cart(510), I have 5 round and 5 flat carts. The round ones do have the 'lips' you mention to hold the foam but the flat carts I have do not have lips as defined as the round ones. This makes me wonder if this will work on them.
The mod to your mod here regarding placing something strawlike to hold the foam in place may be something that is needed for flat carts but I have not tried this.
Any ideas as to how to mod a cart without lips?

I would love to know if the flat tips he has are made for the 510 or there really 901's as i've heard that the 901 carts will fit the 510 and vise versa.

I do remember someone selling true 510 flat tips.. most say there for 510's and there really for the 901.

damnit.. need to know this info! Alot of people like the flat tip over the round. I wonder how many people turned away from using this just cause they thought they could'nt use there flat tip with it.

Anyone out there with a flat tip cart for there 510.. let me know if theres lips on the inside of the cart near the end or its all flat walls on the inside of the juice container.. please see my pics in the first post for info.
