eclypse,
Just wanted to pipe in hear and personally thank you for the time you've spent on everything you've be experimenting and ammending with on this apparently simple and easy use filler mod option !!
I hope that when you have personally "perfected" it (Ha ! not likely, since you don't seem like the type to let a good thing lie still, lol), that you'll create a .pdf for those who wish to download and/or print it. OR, at least create another thread with "ONLY" the relevent final info and pics so we may "sticky" it and "close" it from discussion here on ECF as a reference.
I've finally found a local petshop (to me) that carries the "exact" product your experimenting with, and will be going to pick some up today or tomorrow with hopes of "finally" having the satisfaction of my ecig use, both 3.7v AND especially 5v, that I feel is missing.
Again..... THANK YOU for your efforts on this !!
VapeOn,
Greg
Does this this foam mod work better than the PTB mod?
I think the tag line the "Search Is Over" is very appropriate. I have tried every mod for the 510 cart. PTB, Spring, Straw and 2 days ago I got the blue filter from my local pet store and so far it is working great. No mouthfuls of liquid, no leaks, no flooding and consistent vapor all the way through the last drop. As of yet I see no burning or melting of the material and it makes Dawn's juice taste great.
Thanks for all your efforts.
can you get this foam at wall-mart?
eclypse!
Thanks for the updated, new, improved version of the blue foam mod. I love it, love it, LOVE IT! I didn't think the "plug" could get any better - but the "slug" is...AWESOME! And thanks for all the time & attention you've spent keeping us posted on your experiments & results.
I've passed this mod on to the vapers I know around here - some love it, some prefer the polyfill. The breakdown (an admittedly very small response - sampling of 4) - those of us who smoked full strength (or, Camel straights, here - tho I switched to filters a few years ago) - love this mod. Those who smoked lights tend prefer the lighter, "airier" draw of the polyfill. The tighter draw of the slug gives me a richer vape and more of a throat hit, so it's much better for me. And, the other upside is, the cart absolutely goes dry - and I know immediately when to refill, because it goes from juicy to a slightly, but identifiably dry taste in just one hit. I might be dreaming here, but I think it's doing a much better job of keeping my attys consistently moist. I think the original blue foam plug might give the "airier" hit for a lights smoker, with the same advantages of vaping beautifully, much longer vaping time & draining the cart. Or a smaller version of the slug might have the same effect. Anyway, the concept and design definitely works, whatever your comfort level with the draw - very small adjustments to size of the "slug" I think can adjust you to what draw works for you. Great mod. Love it.
Thanks for all of your experimentation, creativity, and the work you put into posting great, detailed, verbal and graphic step-by step detail for all of us. I REALLY appreciate it.

Has anyone tried this with a DSE 901? And if so, what are the cutting dimensions. And for VG liquid as well.
I think a "find" to get this material to work in the whistle tip 510 is in order..... I really hate the hard plastic feel of the round tips now after switching to the whistle one.
Geeze, I want it ALL don't I ?? lol
VapeOn,
Greg
I have the 510 whistle (flat) tip and they do have the ledge, so it should work.
Scottbee uses the blue stuff with the spring in his 901 and others use the straw to hold up the plug with success.
Ok eclypse, I would like to try this mod but a couple questions:
- Only have a petco nearby and what I see is that I don't think they carry the exact 'Marineland' brand of U filters, I did find a
http://www.petco.com/product/2792/Rite-Size-Bonded-Filter-Sleeves-for-Magnum-Models-220-and-350.aspx
hope that is the same.
Also about the cart(510), I have 5 round and 5 flat carts. The round ones do have the 'lips' you mention to hold the foam but the flat carts I have do not have lips as defined as the round ones. This makes me wonder if this will work on them.
The mod to your mod here regarding placing something strawlike to hold the foam in place may be something that is needed for flat carts but I have not tried this.
Any ideas as to how to mod a cart without lips?
