Never mind ..........doesn't work!

eclypse, I think the real problem is that a sort of vacuum is created after the first few drags. I noticed that I had a cart that was a tight fit and that cart would never work well. I remember seeing a mod where there was a small hole drilled into the cart about half way up to allow air to flow in. I'm gonna fiddle with an idea that allows air to equalize the pressure.
After trying this a while, it definately allows the juice to flow. The only issues are that a tiny bead of juice collects where the hole is and the draw lightens up a bit (this can be fixed by covering the hole with your lips). I used a safety pin to make the hole. The trick would be to make a hole small enough for air to pass but not juice. I believe this can be done.
I'm going to see how tiny a hole I can make.
Never mind ..........doesn't work!
Looks like an interesting mod. Before I go to the trouble though, has anybody tried using it on a high voltage cig (say 5v) like Prodigy et al? I just switched from a Titan to an Xhaler and think it's great, but I'm not a dripping fan. Polyester burns, so I have to drip. Do you think this stuff will stand up to the heat?
Using the shotgun slug @ 5v on a 510 with the hole and sleeve fix for airflow for about 2 hours now, chain vaping. Working well, no flooded atty and I've only moved the sleeve/ring once or twice. No burnt taste/dry atty, and lots of vapor consistently. I also cut the foam so it is only half as thick as it came, don't know if this helps or just the hole in the cart, either way it's working.
The ring doesn't look very good so I probably won't use it when I'm out or at home, I still prefer dripping or topping off so I only have to carry one cart and can change flavors easily (I have a short attention span) but this will definitely be used when commuting to San Francisco. No more topping off in traffic, thanks Eclypse!
I'm not cutting holes or adding this or that. The only change needed to the 510 cart design is the filler. I did start seeing leaks this morning so I am rethinking the filler again. The blue foam doesn't hold it's shape very long, it seems to break down either by heat or the liquid. The search continues.
I bought the Marineland foam, but bought the V version instead of the U version. They seem to work pretty good, better than PTB. Has anyone else got the V version? It was all that was left at Petsmart.
Hi, yall,
Ive been following this thread with great interest, and have tried to keep up with the mod variations as best I can! Tried the plug, slug, shotgun slug, tried the straws. Passed on the paper clips. Here is my experience: Eclypse, I think you really got it right with the first mod. I think you were right, the search was over. I REALLY admire your creativity and resourcefulness; its been interesting to try the variations on the original mod. But I, and 4 friends in this area, have all consistently gone back to your first simple version of the blue foam plug. I dont even measure the foam, just eyeball it at the length to the lip on the 510 cart (or less, length doesnt seem to matter as much as width), cut it SLIGHTLY wider than the width of the cart. Vapes perfectly, every time, no flooding, and its really easy to taste when I need to refill. Slightly dry, burning taste, and the plug is moist, but the cart is dry. Its just perfect. It works just as well with the 510 bullet tips. My friends are reporting the same. Three weeks using this mod, I cant imagine anything better.
But, an inventor is an inventor, Im sure youll build a better mousetrap, and maybe even a mouse to best it! And Ill stay tuned to you for SURE. Thanks a zillion and a great big hug for a mod thats working perfectly for a little group in central Virginia.
Maybe one day i'll make a quick video showing how the juice will hold in the cart upside down.. and what happends when you have the hole in the side of the cart.
Maybe its just your custom juice thats breakin the foam down??? I never have a prob with the foam.. infact i'm still using the original slugs i first cut long ago!
