I still haven't been able to recreate that perfect "cart emptying" experience. Is this mod that riddled with trial and error? Or am I doing something wrong? Once you have your plug all cut and ready, what are the measurements for the length of the thing uncoiled? I got the width part of 1/4 inch (or your sweet spot) but I'm not sure if I cut it long enough to rest on the inner lips of the cart.

The length is quoted in the directions.. 3/4" long for the slug.

For me i use the Nhaler HV juice and its thick.. so i like to cut mine 3 16th" wide and 3/4" long.

When i insert the slug the 3 16ths is the height of the slug up and down. The thickness of the foam is 1/4" and i use that as the width of the cart always.

I honestly use the same cut for thin and thick juice..

Also pete pointed this out but if you have trouble getting it the juice to flow right.. it may be time to clean the cart. heh never thought about it much but it does make sense as old juice residue could be building up inside the cart and preventing good flow.

I also pat the slug dry when i go to refill. That way i also prevent build up in the foam itself.

Ahh good tips! I need to clean the foam out as I never do so when I refill. Don't worry, I haven't given up on this by any means! It's still a vast improvement to the poly-fil! I'll try again to perfect it after work! Thanks for always responding to my posts/questions!

Eureka! Voila! My first empty cart. I had been working with the inverted plug, and that was my best so far. Tried PTB, but too much leakage. Anyway, I still found I was having to top off and drip, and when I got the burnt taste I'd pull the slug and there'd be half a cart still full. I tried about 15 different sizes, width and length tweaks, on the v2 slug.

I finally tried the straw with the slug pushed into the straw and it's like my first day of vaping all over. For the first time in a long time I had to put my bartleby down from the buzz I was getting.

So I'm using this in a bartleby @ 3.7v on a 510 atty and pg juice. I haven't tried it yet with thicker juice.

Thank you, Eclypse, for all your hard work!

tons of problems with this mod... always leaks, i've tried all shapes and sizes. it's just that every mod i've tried seems to be the end-all best in text/youtube, then irl (in real life) it utterly fails... i dont even understand anymore.

i've done the spring (burnt taste with polyfill)
i've done the ptb (constant topping off + leakage)
i've done blue foam for 3 days (never perfect, always leaks, always gotta top off, always need to papertowel clean the sides of cart)

i've cut the blue foam right, i've cut it wrong, i've cut it all sorts of ways.
never fails at failing. plus it will absorb all the liquid in the cart and keep it, get a burnt taste, and i gotta fiddle with it with tweezers to get a couple more non-burnt puffs.

i refuse to mess with straws and cutting the carts
it's time for me to try really hard to quit e cigs. i quit real ones, now it's e-cig-quitting time!

if im a real man, i can stop vaping!

blue foam was fun though, i just wish it wasn't a bucket-o-fail.

Well, this is absolutely amazing. Ran to Petsmart during lunch today and grabbed a bag of 3 U blue filters. Got it working on my first time thanks to the threads. I only have one thing to say about all of the different mods. I started getting into the hype of all of the different ways to do it, but when I first tried, I just cut a small piece that would fit in there without too much scrunching up and it worked perfectly (at least on my first try). Started with a piece that was obviously bigger than needed and just kept trimming it down until it fit.

I've been vaping on it for about 30 minutes off and on and the last vape was just as good as the first. That was really my only complaint about e-cigs ... without dripping, it would stop working well fairly quickly. This has been great from start to finish (and I'm not finished). I only put about 10 drops in so I didn't waste anything in case I messed it up.

I say, just get the stuff and try it. That's what I did and will never go back to poly-fill.

bucket-o-fail??? lol. Hey do yourself a favor and just buy some good juice for once. Hit up www.nhaler.com and buy a couple of there small 6ML tril sized bottles.

I'm guessing you have some seriously thin PG juice thats like water. The stuff alot of people use is based in VG and is much thicker. Lasts longer and holds up perfectly in the blue foam. Hell before i even bought some lot of people were screaming how great the foam was and they were using the Nhaler juice. I finally got around to buying some and yeah no going back to PG juice now.

Trial bottle is i think 4 bucks.

I've been using only the blue foam for a day or 2 before i started this long thread.. so, if it sucked i'd be still looking.

Thanks Eclypse! I'm a bit challenged on following directions, but your pics helped a lot.

I had problems right from the start with the filters that came with my carts, getting loose pieces that stuck to the atty and gave a burnt, horrible taste. I tried PTB and it leaked and didn't work too well. I bought batting and found the same problems with plastic taste, ick! I've been so frustrated and aggravated by available filter material.

I sent hubby over to PetSmart tonight and have tried your method with the addition of a straw. Hubby is trying it without the straw. We're going to compare notes and decide which works better for us.

So far, I think I'm winning. :) No horrid taste, great vapor, works quite a while before I have to add any liquid. Hubby ran out of liquid 2x and I was still toking on the same liquid. (It's possible he's hitting it harder than me.)

Again, thanks for the great posts and pics. As a newbie, I really appreciate the time and effort you have put into this and other threads.

Ok I just cut a piece out that was about as wide as the cart, (maybe a bit wider) and about as long as the cart. I put the liquid in (it is pg/vg) so it is probably thin enough, but not too thin. I remembered something about the ptb mod. He said that the liquid likes to go where the folds are. So I folded the very top of the blue foam and made it to where the "fold" is hitting the atty bridge. VOILA! All the juice seems to want to go right to that spot when I am vaping. No leaks, no funky taste. TYTYTY! Also want to thank Dawn from DIY for including blue foam in with my order. She's a DOLL!

:) Glad you giving it a try! Straw no straw, all that matters is that its working well for you. ;)

Insteresting.. would love to see a pic to better understand what your doing with the fold. Are you folding a plug or slug? Would be neat to try it.. thinking of a pyamid shape where its folded and inserted and each half rests on the lips in the cart. I'll have to try that one hehe. Please try your best to describe what exactly your doing.

Check out my thread in this forum called "Straws Obsolete!? Simple Discovery!" (Sorry, I can't post links yet)

Skimming this thread a bit is what inspired me to inspect and disassemble a cart, then I made a discovery that I think will easily eliminate the need for a straw. Someone try it and let me know what you think!

If you read one of my early posts in that same scottyballs ZFM mod, i mention doing the same thing.

I ended up hollowing it out and then setting 2 of the cap plugs on top inorder to make good contact with the atty bridge. No one seemed to care and figured someone already figured that out or something.. hehe.

At first it is a extremely tight fit.. but you can use the end cap plastic piece to help push it down in.

Yeah by itself the hole is too small.

EDIT: Sorry its ealry and i just got up.. lol.

Another couple of problems with using the plastic piece for a bridge.

Having plastic close to the bridge.. if its all the way down to the inner lips down in the cart it may be alright though. Would have to test it.

The other prob is that the edges of the piece may clog up the flow of juice.

Again.. those things would have to be tested.

I thought of using it with the hole and a hole in the back side of the cart for a dripping cart mod.

Nice.. I found this place as well.. Cheaper prices but there shipping is much higher.

They also have a 10% off a $50+ order or 5% off no minimum purchase.

Ordered me up 5 packs earlier today. :) Thats 30 sheets total. Should be enough i hope hehe.

Pet Mountain has always been expensive.
Try bigalsonline, thatpetplace, pets-warehouse and Amazon and Ebay of course. I have been keeping aquariums for years and have bought from all of the above for my finned friends needs.
