I took organic last semester, challenging course for sure but it has been one of my favorites to date. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but can't really say the same about physical chem this term  My organic prof was an excellent teacher, and conveyed the material well (she's also easy on the eyes ), can't say the same about my seemingly incompetent phys chem prof...

Since we have an organic chemist here, maybe you can shed some insight on the lactic acid produced from vaping PG. Aside from building up and causing muscle soreness, do you think it has adverse effects on our health? I've been curious

Ah, you must be a chem major! :thumb: I did not like p-chem at first either. At the time I was convinced I would be a synthetic chemist making natural products, and p-chem was just too much math. Then I took quantum, and the beauty of this simple but powerful theory has never let me go since. Thermo was just too bulk, but quantum was elegant, molecular, and I could not get enough of the math. My beakers and flasks now are molecular orbitals and super computers. Currently writing my doctoral thesis.

As for lactic acid, I don't know for sure, but PG ingestion has been studied for decades with hardly a health issue save for mucus membrane irritation. People here call it an allergy, but I think it is simply a topical dehydration issue that is more than some would want. I don't get this impression there is a large immune response, just some unpleasant sensations in the mouth, nose, throat and lungs. I never used it long enough or heavily enough to get a lactic acid muscle soreness, that I noticed, rather I switched to VG relatively soon when I found I was getting mouth and throat rawness. But given that I do martial arts, and I'm not young, given the choice between the two metabolytes, glucose (VG) or lactic acid (PG), I would rather have the glucose. But I don't think there is much problem with PG health wise, other than it is more of an irritant to some people. Actually it is an irritant to most people...throat hit is irritation, after all.

When I first heard of alcohol flavored juice, I wasn't worried about getting drunk off of them. I figured they were just 'flavor', not actual booze.

I know some people use actual booze for dripping/dipping, etc.. Out of curiosity, I ordered "whiskey" flavored juice (which I haven't received yet). I'm a big Dewers fan, so I'll be curious as to how the juice tastes.

Lots of people here use various liquors to thin, but I think one has to be careful that it doesn't contain sugars. PGA or vodka are the cleanest, but I know Scottes uses 151 rum. Regular rum has much more sugar. Someone else, can't recall who, used vanilla vodka to thin and add vanilla flavor with good results.

Another issue, however, is the alcohol as a solvent. People here used to clean their attys in vodka or PGA, but it was discouraged because the thought was that the alcohol can dissolve the adhesives in the atty. I know while I was doing that I had far more killed attys than now (I clean them with Crest no-alcohol Health-pro mouthwash and hot water). So there may be an additional risk to the atty itself by adding alcohol to the juice. Of course, someone with more knowledge than me about this can correct me. Its a moot point for me, as I don't want even a hint of a buzz.

I've been vaping Rath Lemonade all weekend, the bottle says "contains alcohol". I haven't noticed any affect.

I wouldn't be surprised if most VG juices premade by the vendor have some alcohol added to thin them. Rath is a no-PG juice, right? You do need to add something to thin them. I needed about 10% to get the right vaping and wicking consistency, but others here sometimes use only a few drops of PGA per 6 mL of juice.

Also, now that I use ditilled water to thin instead of alcohol, vaping does not nearly dry my mouth and throat out as much. And the TH is all nic now, nothing else. Again, there are no judgments here at all about using alcohol. I just find vaping is much better on several levels without it.
