@Berylanna Maybe SFATA organization I was thinking of but could have sworn it was Smoke Free and something about California and/or Kids and/or Education. I give up though.

And my apologizes on derailment of this post soba1 ;) It might be in one of these close to 1000 posts now but if it is I can't find it. But yeah feel free to post can't hurt and can only help.

No worries......
We are all in this together...
I don't take myself too terribly serious most of the time lol.

It might help; maybe we can post messages on their facebook page.
Every little bit helps.
At least tell your ecig stories.
https://www.facebook.com/TobaccoFreeCA
I have been posting telling them to call their local reps
and telling them to take the ecig portion out of AB1500

It's terrible but this facebook page made me want to smoke. As I scrolled down there were so many pictures of cigarettes it was like a trigger for me.

One more thing: I had originally pretty much only paid CA sales taxes on my Amazon purchases because it is so easy to keep track of, all in 1 place. Now I think Amazon is collecting it for me (which I had hoped they would at least make available on a voluntary basis, but it does save me time.)

But I'm just now doing my 2012 taxes (don't ask) and I'm going to declare $500 in vaping supplies and pay the sales tax on it, which will be about $49.

I don't shop out-of-state and online to avoid sales taxes, I do it to get WHAT I WANT.

That's exactly why I do it. Have no problem paying my fair share....

Maybe that's why ECF is better support for me. You guys aren't constantly posting pictures of burning cigarettes while at the same time saying not to smoke LOL :smokie:

Smoke if you want; I do, because I don't yet have the liquids I ordered, and the one I have makes me sick. What I like best about this is that it's all my own choice -- no coercion, no "you can't cheat!," just trying to do something healthier. That makes all the difference! We're all adults, and I refuse to feel like a "naughty child" because I haven't yet found the thing that will let me lay down the coffin nails and leave them down -- I'm on its trail!! :D

To be honest, I am somewhat surprised that this is happening in California, of all places, with their oft-referenced laws regarding the legal medical use of that other smokable stuff, the general stereotype of CA as the "land of fruits and nuts" (by which they usually mean "hippies and liberals"), and their historical association with many progressive movements -- the flower-children for consciousness-expansion and against the vietnam war, San Francisco's championing of same-sex relationship issues and certainly, AIDS research, conservation of natural resources, and a great many other forward-thinking causes. Who would have thought that BT and BP could generate such repressive tactics in California! It certainly boggles *my* mind!

You shouldn't be boggled. That tendency isn't limited to the liberal left. It is prevalent with both big political parties and is all about big government control, or more specifically, using big government to control someone else using the armed force of law. Don't ever forget that this type of legislation has nothing to do with health or well-being. It's always BT or BP using government to protect their racket, or governments themselves attempting to boost revenue to support their own racket.

Not sure what to make of this and whether it could be useful to us in our fight.

Yes, the ECF analysis was useful, but the Channel 10 news page & video sure seemed to present a strong negative bias about ecigs.... "Made in China" references all over, more anti-ecig comments/representation than pro-ecig (Vapure GM was all), etc....

Speaking of the "Made in China" mantra they keep spouting, what gives with that video of a Chinese manufacturer on page 2?

I've been checking into this thread pretty frequently. Checking the status:

CA AB1500 | 2013-2014 | Regular Session | LegiScan

...seems like the next possible event for this bill will be Thursday Feb 13th, when it "may" be heard in committee?

OK, got a call back from Rep. Gordon's office. Nothing's going on for now.

"may be" means until then it "may not be", i.e. is not allowed to be heard in committee. Apparently it has to sit for 30 days after printing so people can read it, then it goes to the Rules Committee, which is not a committee that we'd lobby, all they do is decide WHAT committees it will go to. After that, one of the committees on the list can schedule it for a hearing. If they do, we'll get our emails. If nobody does, the bill could die a quiet death, having forwarded the career of the writer, and no blame to him if the committees don't pick it up. Of course if they do pick it up, that's kudos for him, so he may schmooz ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H campaign in the hallways for that.

So, anybody want to propose a bill to change the way they announce this state from "may be" to "will be eligible to be"?

Thanks for update. I live in midwest but still see this as possibly impacting me. I hope it dies a slow boring death ;) but if not keep us informed so we can help out.

If anyone's within earshot of KNBR radio station (680 AM) there is a weekly Saturday morning talk show about money and finances... but the host said there will be someone on this morning in a little while (it's 930 now) to speak about "these e cigarettes that are out there" and discuss whether "they're good for you or not and what's in them".

I am at work and so cannot sit on the phone to call in, but it's an opportunity to call in.

I will try to listen to the whole thing and report back.

edited to add: Well shoot. I guess I missed it between when it was announced and the time it took me to walk into the office and get coffee. There will be a podcast available later and I will attempt to catch it then.

We have to figure out a way to get the senior citizens retires on our side and involved.
They do call because most have time on their hands.

They are all sitt'in on the "front porch", and the "back porch"...one is for "vape talk, the other is open to anything.

Front Porch:

Back Porch:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/lounge/520776-older-folks-vaping-back-porch-part-2-a.html

They are "part 2" because the volumn got so big on the first 2 threads, that they had to start new threads.
Pretty sharp people's hang out there.

Lol that's what I've been fantasizing about saying to the Democratic Party. But since our Social Security benefits might get inflated out of usefulness, a lot of us cannot afford to retire early. Once we're back out of the workforce, LOOK OUT.

And the conservatives from the same period? A lot of them (and moderates, and liberals) were under fire in 'Nam and also know how to take action. Boomers can BOOM!
