Chanel,

That's definitely part of the problem for me too. I have been told by several people here that I'm not going to find a true tobacco tasting vape. So far, after trying lots of different stuff, I have not. I still hope to. My alternative has become coffee flavors. It's not quite what a want, but I do like the taste. Maybe, I just need to forget about tobacco!!!! Hard for transition for me though. :)

I mix my own tobacco flavored liquid now with a lot of tobacco extract in it, but occasionally use some flue cured or cigar flavored liquid for a little change. It's never going to be exactly the same as smoking, but close enough for me.

As for smoking 3-4 analogs a day from more than a pack, I consider that a great victory. I'm one who managed to completely quit (11 months today), but it's a mental struggle I take one day at a time. All I can say is thank you to those who invented these things and thanks to everyone on this forum who helped me along in the early going.

I never intended to quit smoking Thoughtfull1.
I started vaping as an alternative because I got sick and tired of being discriminated against.
In February I lost a job because I was a smoker, they never said so in so many words, but the message was clear.
Later, when I went for interviews I never got the job because they could smell the smoke on my clothes. I didn't know this until someone told me.
Another reason for starting vaping for me was that I got fed up with having to go outside int he cold, wind and rain.
If a want a hit now, and I can't smoke at my desk, I can at least go to the ladies room where it's warm. That is, if I get another job, because right now I'm still unemployed.
Today when we went bowling I vaped right by the lanes and nobody said anything.
Going outside in summer is lovely, but it's quite a different story in winter.
Hang in there. Don't put yourself under pressure, 3 or 4 cigs a day is not bad.

.

I mix some of my own too, but I have not tried to mix tobacco flavor yet, ( mine have all been Lorianne flavorings, mostly fruit) where did you get the tobacco flavor?

OP (and needtoknow as well) - please don't beat yourselves up over 3 cigs a day - its not a RACE - its a 'do it in our own time at your own pace' deal. We aren't anti-smoking nazis here, we vape cos we enjoy smoking but not cigarettes; there's a difference.
You will give up smoking as and when your brain and body decides its found a decent substitute, not a minute before.
If your subconcious is saying well ths is great an all but I really want a ...' then HAVE one. Making them 'taboo' will only make them more attractive not less. You have to wait until you get a 'yeah - could we get some more of that coffee stuff now please' message to get through. It could take days weeks or months but if you stick with it, it WILL happen. You may need some smokeless tobbacco stuff to help, you may not, but remember - its not a race.
Enjoy vaping don't make it stressful :)
Best of luck to ya both.

Are they easy to build?

Very easy to build. I can make one and I had never soldered anything in my life. We still have a couple of them around here just in case.

Perfumers Apprentice - Tobacco Absolute (1. Pure)

I have some of this but haven't used it yet. I know people that have and they say it's pretty good.

To the OP, it took me a couple of months to get rid of the last 3 cigs. I beat myself up just like you are. I now realize that wasnt' needed. When you are ready it will happen on its own. At the end of a day it will suddenly dawn on you that you haven't smoked a cig all day. And that feeling will be one of the best feelings you'll ever have. Just let it move along naturally.

I started off with 18 mg and it wasn't enough. Now that I'm on 24 mg I don't smoke anymore.
However, I've only been smoke free for 5 days and today when I went out (accompanied by my vaping equipment) I found a packet of smokes in my coat and left them at home. I'm afraid if I take them with me, I will use them.
I have to say though, when I passed a smoker, the smell of a real cigarette was SOOO good.

I'm still experimenting with liquid. I've tried Malbora Red and now I'm using 555.
I'm not into the fruity liquids, a cigarette has to taste like a cigarette, not like a peach or cup of coffee. That's just my opinion though. Everyone is different.

Glad to hear you're still analog free Chanel!!!!

I was tempted when I went out bowling yesterday Domino. Found some smokes in my coat pocket from when we met last Tuesday. I left them home because I knew if I carried them around I would light up.

Now I have other problems though. A cyber friend wants to start vaping and I'm trying to gather info, but not much is forthcoming.

Don't beat yourself up about not quiting analogs immediately. The last thing you want is to get too frustrated and return to analogs completely. It's not uncommon for us smokers to miss the smell of real ciggys. I myself am guilty of bumming a stick from my brother in law now and then.

I found that focusing on the benefits of vaping instead of smoking keeps me on track. No more smelly clothes, no more worrying that my hubby will get sick over my second hand smoke or kissing him with my ashtray smelling mouth. I remember that it hurts my chest whenever I take a really deep breath and that's gone within a week of not smoking. So now whenever I feel tempted to smoke analogs, I take a deep breath and remember how it used to feel. The trick is to find your motivation and keep that in mind. Figure out what's most important for you about not smoking and use that as your focus point.

But as everybody said just take your time and enjoy vaping at your own pace. 3 or 4 cigs a day from a pack a day is a major accomplishment already and you should be proud of yourself. Goodluck and happy vaping! :D

This is the one thing that bothers me about vapors ... now that they don't smoke anymore they slam the physical signs of smokers. For years they didn't worry about smoking, but now that they've quite they start yapping about second hand smoke, an ashtray mouth and blah blah blah.

I never worried about an ashtray mouth, if a non-smoker wasn't happy with my mouth ... put up with it or take a hike.
As for second hand smoke ... that is one of the biggest lies ever told.

Even though I enjoy vaping, I hope that I never become a smokers hating vaper.

Oh no you misunderstand me. I never wanted to intentionally slam the "physical signs of smoking". As I said, I use that as my motivation to keep myself on track. I never want to judge anyone, just finding a way to keep myself motivated. What's the harm in that?

I'm still a newbie (only 17 days into vapeing) About 10 days in, I HAD to buy a pack of analogs and smoke. I bought the pack, dug out the lighter in my glovebox, light up, and got REALLY sick. I so wanted that analog! I started vapeing to be able to get my fix around my husband, in the car and in our new house. No intentions of really quiting but the vapeing took the place of analogs for me. I think of analogs a lot each day but know they will make me sick so I just pick up my PV and vape.

OP, everyone is different and as stated before, this isn't a race or a contest. Try to think of the analogs you DON'T smoke and not the ones you DO. Good luck and this forum is here for support!

Thanks Jowee.

That's good advice. My motivations are HUGE. First, I don't want to die of lung cancer as my husband did. Second, I want to get the lung capacity that I once had back. I would like to be able to ride a bike again and do other things that I used to love that I can no longer do. These are GREAT motivations...but still...they don't always seem to be enough to keep me from cigs. Thank you for the compliment, I do know that a few a day is a huge improvement from over a pack.....just hope to be able to make the break completely and permanently soon.

First of all, don't count the analogs you are still smoking, count the ones you don't smoke. Far more relevant number.

If those few analogs do bother you, two things: 12mg is fairly low, you might want to try a stronger liquid. If that doesn't help, you may be among those 20% of all vapers who can't leave tobacco behind entirely, because they need something more than nicotine from it. There are however several ways to get this, and every single one of them is better than analogs. Head over to the smokeless section of the forum and have a look around there.

First, I don't want to die of lung cancer as my husband did.

You are not gonna die of lung cancer because you smoke Thoughtfull1. Some non-smokers die of lung cancer, while some addicted smokers die with perfectly good lungs.

Do you worry about liver cancer every time you take a drink?
Do you worry about cholesterol, leading to high blood pressure, leading to heart attack every time you eat junk food or fatty foods.

As for getting sick of an real cigarette ... I'm gonna try it. I'm gonna light one up (even though I haven't had one in 6 days) and see what happens.

Thoughtfull1 I worked for the cancer society and the center of addiction.
All I can say is, it was an eye opener.
The lies and deceit they feed the public are unbelievable.
I quit that job at the cancer society because I couldn't take it anymore.
The day I left I was threatened by management that if I ever said a word to anyone about what I had seen, heard or read they would come after me.
All I can say is, they are a BILLION dollar industry of which VERY little money goes to research.

Think about this though ... if smoking causes lung cancer, than what causes a variety of other cancers, including breast cancer, ovarian cancer and testicular cancer?
Once you've figured that out, you're halfway to the truth.
