I wish you guys would come up with wicking material that is readily available around the world - sheesh, I find myself searching ebay for tampons containing 100% rayon

readyxwick may have a $750,000 fine for exporting

Koh gen do $46 shipping

whats next Graham Cellucotton - $40 to $50 landed

I got a sample of Shiseido - tastes cleaner but doesn't work as well as my $1.89 supermarket favourite

I think I'll just stick to the cheap cotton balls and spend my money on DIY supplies.

Such is life for a satisfied Reo vaper  (in Australia)

Back in the day when this was all 'new' in the wick materials, safe vs. dangerous thread most of us concluded that aunt lydia's viscose from bamboo thread (viscose = rayon) was superior to cotton for its heat resistance, longevity and wicking. Only reason I went back to cotton was I got sick of pulling threads through coils, but it makes sense to me that a rayon 'fluff' would be better than cotton in the same way. Only concern ever voiced (and I had it from time to time) was the substance liberating nasty stuff from vaping (I think there is a sulfur moiety somewhere)...

Before micro coils were called micro coils I was doing a coils touching ten wrap of 30 gauge on a 14 gauge needle (I know that's not a micro technically) with 5 threads of aunt lydia's viscose/rayon pulled through on my ERA/VV grand. I was trying to make a fatter hh .357 (read: loads of surface area) set up, mostly inspired by vaping that beast of an atty and BJ43s musing on surface area. That was my go to set up for a long, long time.

Yeah from the reports I've read it seems that the final product (Rayon) is pure cellulose and doesn't retain any of the chemicals, but you are right the manufacturing process isn't the most environmentally friendly.

Currently I have it set up in a dual 8 wrap of twisted 30g measuring .42ohm in my Origen V2. This stuf is perfect for the Origen, because it has that obnoxious drip well. Short tails of this in an RM2 may not see the full benefit of its wicking ability, but either way this stuff tastes awesome.

Speaking of back in the day, anyone remember using tea bags in the 510 cartos? All the rage back then, lol

I have short tails on mine, they stick out a little over 1/8" on either side of my coil .. wicks great, flavor is great and I get more vapes between squonks than I've gotten on anything else. Oh the memories, yes I remember those "teabag" times, thank goodness we've come a long way from those days.

Ian, I'd be happy to send you some Koh Gen Do and some CelluCotton, I sell on Ebay and ship to Australia all the time. I send those packages via priority mail which is $24.95 for a flat rate envelope size and it arrives in Australia in 7-10 days .. or I can ship regular first class for $8-10 but that takes a little longer to arrive. I would hate for you to miss out on getting to try these 2 great new wicking materials. I'm happy to do it, just for the cost of the shipping, the materials themselves would be a gift to you. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Rayon should be available at any beauty supply store, or a local place that does perms.. Salon suppliers are in every major city. It's also available at some drug stores as rayon balls. Surgeons use a medical grade rayon dressings.

They stopped using rayon in tampons because it worked too well... I won't explain..

$12 at Sally.

Thanks to steamhead for leading me here and JeremyR for evangelizing this really nifty looking alternative wicking material :)

Cotton, especially KGD kicks so much AYuss I really can't ask for more but figured I'd try this alternative natural product to give me something to make a vid about :)

I was offering to ship it to him in Australia just for whatever the shipping cost was, not charging for it per se. Unfortunately I've never had luck shipping to Canada, have done it 2 times before and both times the packages never arrived, the recipients figured they got stolen by customs .. argh. But I have shipped to Australia many times, with great success, so that was the only reason I offered. Hopefully someone else on ECF can ship to you who has better success shipping to Canada.

strange, but thanks anyways. I may just use ebay if I can't find someone to send me some. I buy from ebay often and there has never been a problem. I have had plenty of vape gear sent to me from the US and always super smooth, and the same goes when I send gear over (5-7 days shipped).

Ok so I'm more confused now than usually. Where do you find this stuff at. I'm still using sterile cotton from CVS. Always been very happy with it. I must confess, that I'm really paranoid about wicking material. With the respiratory problems I have, well I need to be Very careful about what I use. Heck I always heard Ecowool was fantastic. Till I tried it. But then to each their own.

Now I am in a quandary...my first Reo is scheduled to be delivered on Monday. I have 26ga, 28ga, 30ga and 32ga Kanthal, so am covered there. Have Peaches & Cream yarn and CVS Cotton, both preboiled, so I thought I was covered there. Now I am going to have to stop by Sally's to pick this up. You say it's only $12, but I know different. When the wife finds out where I am going, she will have to go along. That box of rayon will cost at least $50 when she is through!:p

Well, Sally apparently has caught on to the demand. Just went to my local Sally's and they wanted $13.99 for the box. Wound up buying a new pair of thin scissors instead. Cuts KGD really well.

The prices seem to vary a lot at Sally's. I paid more than some people, but not quite that much.

Nonethless, it's several lifetimes supply, and so absolutely worth it!
