Here's how I see it. I could be dead wrong - it happens. Quite a bit, actually.
:D
From an AIRFLOW perspective, there's NO need to line up this atty directionally. Because air is coming in those 3 holes, then getting aimed at your coil for you - no matter the direction.

However - it IS a good idea to have your coil positioned "uphill from your face" when you vape - as this will prevent some gurgling when you've got a lot of juice squonked. It's a simple matter of preventing loose liquid from pooling downhill too close to the airhole.

So yeah - IF possible, have it with coil "away" - but it's about liquid/gurgle prevention rather than about airflow.

Mine coincidentally with the oring I happened to have on there lined up JUST right with the coil directly opposed to the fire button - which fits one of my preferred vape styles (button down/atty-up, fire with pointer!)

Quick question. Aside from the coil placement does it matter where the airhole lines up? in other words, it doesn't matter if the hole isn't lined up with the coil right?

Idk why but whatever coil I put on it with the afc almost wide open (air hole is randomly placed) I get an amazing vape no matter what I do.

I have been enjoying reading about all of your experiences, thanks for that. So what is the common consensus..you love it right? Did I see FB say you like it better than version II? That says a lot.
I think it's time for me to check one of these lovely chalices out.:)

Well, if you've read the thread through, you know that FB rates the Chalice as his top pick for atties (and the III more than the II), turbo thinks it's the best single coil atty ever made, and the rest of us are raving about it's engineering and performance (especially flavour), so yup, it's a stellar piece of kit. Everything after that is just us geeking out over coil placement, wicking choices, and squonking technique :)

This thing is not overhyped, IMHO. It's the shizzle, mos def.

I am glad I gave it a couple of days and watched your progress. I nailed my first intentional 'ugly' coil at 1.2 ohms. It took me a little bit to figure out the airflow, but the 'line up to the C' , and also the 'turn it so the coil is upward' comments really helped. And yeah...can I get a resounding WOW from the crowd?:vapor:
Thank you for this beautiful creation Mark Buggs. It was worth the wait, anticipation, anxiety, and a few grey hairs....

Can you guys post some of your builds on it (maybe without wick) so the coil placement and height can be seen?
I can when I build another one, only ones I have are wicked. This for height

For a 1/16 somewhere around even with post cap, My coils are slight bigger than 1/16 as I'm using a #51 mandrel and I try to place the bottom of the coil equal with the bottom of the post caps. I now try to place the coil half way between the posts and the edge.

Thank you!!!! The next build, a top down pic will help too ;)

KS- that looks AWESOME on the REO!!!! SO excited cuz.....I have the EXACT TRA/Circle door-woohoo! Great taste you have, I must say! And now I see how small in diam this little atty is! YIKES, hope I can build on it. LOL Looks like the size of the RM2 or RM3??

And PayPal FINALLY has my funds so the payment for the Chalice III is sent. Should get the Chalice II today or tomorrow.

Hello,

We decided to delay the GEM project and to have another run of Chalice III, ETA February/March 2015 (depend on the quantities we have to produce), for anyone who want to own one and did not get it.
We had changed the rules of the game because we did not know how many Chalices are needed, we have now created a special email address chalice3@markbugs.com, all those are interested to have one or more please send a mail at that address and write only on the subject line how many are you willing to buy and your country.
The list will be oppened until 20th of December 2014.
No money will be payed in advance, when Chalice III will be finished, everybody will get a replay to the mail with further instructions.

Thank you,
MarkBugs Team

Awesome job Mark! This will guarantee that everyone that wants one gets one. Hopefully the people that have already paid for one due to the oversell will get theirs first? So if we want more above what we already paid for, we just get on this list like everyone else?
