Here's how I see it. I could be dead wrong - it happens. Quite a bit, actually.

From an AIRFLOW perspective, there's NO need to line up this atty directionally. Because air is coming in those 3 holes, then getting aimed at your coil for you - no matter the direction.
However - it IS a good idea to have your coil positioned "uphill from your face" when you vape - as this will prevent some gurgling when you've got a lot of juice squonked. It's a simple matter of preventing loose liquid from pooling downhill too close to the airhole.
So yeah - IF possible, have it with coil "away" - but it's about liquid/gurgle prevention rather than about airflow.
Mine coincidentally with the oring I happened to have on there lined up JUST right with the coil directly opposed to the fire button - which fits one of my preferred vape styles (button down/atty-up, fire with pointer!)

Quick question. Aside from the coil placement does it matter where the airhole lines up? in other words, it doesn't matter if the hole isn't lined up with the coil right?
Idk why but whatever coil I put on it with the afc almost wide open (air hole is randomly placed) I get an amazing vape no matter what I do.
