Change ECF Classifieds Rules to not allow profiteering !

Sorry but i buy often things twice, but not for selling. One for myself and one to trade.
A hard getting item is easier to get over a trade than for money.
Thats the way i got my zenesis, katana and other mods.
Easy lesson i learned, buy things that are available to get those you search for.
And theres no intention on profit.

I have no problem with people doing that. That's not what my post was talking about at all.

As you said there is no intention of profit you are simply trading hard to get items for other hard to get items.

Now if you were buying them strictly for the purpose of selling them 2 days later on the classifieds for double what you paid that's a different story. That's the situation I'm talking about.

Uhhh..no, not if you have a very rare item that you want to sell for profit. Selling a hard to get item at a profit does not a vendor make. If I sold my ASH for $800 in the classifieds, or a Denali for $450, or a GG Grant for $700, that would not make me a vendor. Not even close.

Personally, I'm tired of the constant rant over people" profiting". This is America. No one is forced to buy anything from anybody (unless it is gov't healthcare apparently). If the price is wrong, the solution is simple. Don't buy it! I have faith in the consumer to make the right choices.

If your prized PV is still being manufactured you could be considered a crook, if it is no longer being manufactured then go for it. This is how the market should be, but sadly, with the "I want it NOW" mentality, that is not how things have been going. This is what is driving the scalpers to inflate the prices. Also saying how rare and hard to get an item is, should not be part of a classified ad for something that is going on sale again next week.

How could I be considered a crook if someone offered? Assuming of course they were aware of paying exorbitantly over the cost, which of course I would say. Whether or not it is still being made doesn't change how much the thing retails (retailed) for--rarity is not inherent value, but prescribed. I have had people offer to buy my bass guitars (on the spot) for more than they were worth and they knew it...I didn't sell them, but if I did, that wouldn't be me robbing. Actually, they were only trying to buy the bass guitars for more than the retail value because they thought they could make more on them in the future.

Dig, I am an artist and I sell all types of art. Sometimes "art buyers" purchase my work. I found out that some of my metal sculptures were in a boutique being sold for 4x what the buyer bought them (from me) for. Who got robbed? Did anybody? Capitalist--> someone capitalizes. The metal sculptures cost me about $30 total to make (not including the time), and I sold them for $250 ($75 a piece), and they were being sold for about $250 each. Was I upset? I thought it was funny, but that is what art buyers do. Do you think the final purchaser would be upset to find out how much the actual metal costs?

I was merely extending you a courtesy considering your post was rather rude, misinformed and you are new around here. As far as your insistence that this is an American forum, I would be surprised if regularly contributing members from the US contributed 50% of the posts here. There are very active communities that compose the global basis. Do yourself a favour and honour your seriously great country by not participating in the stereotypes that people often (unreasonably) attribute to its citizens.

Facts are indeed facts, and being a firm participant in science I can assure you this is a private forum, composed of global members and is certainly not "America"

so i asked him if he thinks $300 on a used item that is $139 new is considered obvious inflation.. yet to receive a response..

I think the only real point in all of this is that no one here is forcing anyone to buy anything--that can't be stated enough. First of all, if you have $500 dollars to spend on a PV, then it probably won't hurt. I mean, c'mon!? Does anybody remember the Beanie Baby rage?

Easy... Don't buy from them. Yeah it's frustrating as hell to see people selling hard to obtain stuff way over the market price but I just move on and pay no attention to the thread.

There are good deals out there. I bought a brand new provari mini kit for $155 last week, which included a case, 2 batteries, and a charger. Granted it seems like this is the exception rather than the norm.

Just avoid Joe blow who wants to sell his beat up darwin for 2x as much as a new one would have cost.
