No idea if it's true for all external battery chargers but mine has an auto off function. Lights will stay on to show it's charged but it stops the charging process once it detects the battery is full (still not sleeping with those charging, but i'm paranoid :p)
All quality chargers do that. However, anything can fail.

Yes I do understand completely. I have the cord that came in the box and then the vape shop gave me the box adapter that would be needed. I'm debating on taking it back. I agree five hours seems long.

I wonder what they gave you. Maybe it was an old wall adapter for basic e-cigs. Perhaps not powerful enough.

How can one use an iPhone charger on a device that has a micro USB port?
It's a case of what means what to people, I'm beginning to think. I agree with you by the way.
There are not many genuine chargers left, only wall adapters and usb cables. The adapter is the important bit; I personally don't use iPhone wall adapters.
My Nokia phone has real charger (one piece) but my Samsung doesn't. I've been using a high quality 5v 2.1a double adapter (the output is shared if you have two cables) and I use it for single charging for a long time now. It works very well for all mods and pens. I don't have any old batteries that would be best with a slow charger.

I used an iphone charger as an example (and because most people these days seem to have one)
Using a 2 amp charger is not good for batteries (if it's non removable then maybe but idk for sure)
Any and probably all oems will tell you not to use more than 1 amp to charge external batteries and why most chargers for these won't go above it.

Use a micro usb cable plug it into the said charger (whatever may it be) i didn't speak of the cable i spoke about the brick/charger itself, and i highly doubt apple ships their charger all in one piece. Every charger these days (at least phone chargers) have a usb port on em dosen't matter what you plug in that usb hole it will charge regardless.
Chill, I feel you now. Didn't realize you solely meant to steal the wall wart.

Note that the charger is inside the mod. The usb wall wart is simply an adapter. The mod will draw the power it needs, up to the limit the adapted can provide. There's no risk in using a higher rated adapter, but if using an adapter rated lower than the mod draws there's a risk that the adapter overheats and fails. Use an adapter rated for what the mod/device draws, or higher.

Hello everyone. I'm new to vaping and I am so excited, also excited that I found a site with active people. I haven't smoked a cigarette since Monday, so I'm doing good so far. I went and purchased a Smok V8 Stick just yesterday. However it says the red light will go out when charged fully. I plugged mine up at 1am and when I got up at 6am it was still red. My question is, how long does it take to charge normally?
Welcome and glad you joined.

I did not know that, so using a fast charger(smartphone) is ok as well? The only charger I have is from my phone.

I'm using a Stick V8 baby with a 2000mah battery, EU version.

I've used smartphone chargers (sometimes the high powered ones) and haven't had problems... with that said, I'm not usually charging via USB except on devices with internal batteries. I don't know much about your setup though, it might be wise to check the user manual, but it's my understanding, vaguely, that devices pull the power they need and then stop? But if it's just a regular USB charger, I'm thinking you will be fine....

When I bought my stick V8 it didn't come with a charger or anyting but they did tell me to make sure you use a 5 volt 1 amp charger if you use anything higher it could cause damage to the battery I've had people use regular cell phone chargers that they use for their phones and their battery to go bad I went to Dollar General and found a charger port 5V 1A and works perfect
