This isn't a very nice thing to say. Smoking is a very hard habit to break whether you have kids or not. Besides that, she DID quit smoking with the help of vaping and she does have a right to her own feelings about it whether people agree with them or not.

Sometimes the truth hurts. I don't know about you but I refuse to lie and be shady with my children.

Yes but you said it was sad that she couldn't quit smoking for her children. LOTS of people couldn't quit smoking for their children until they found vaping. But fortunately we DID find it so it's a difficult thing to feel judged because we couldn't do it on our own (and that's how I perceived your previous comment).

I completely agree about being open with your children though so I won't debate that.

If you are saying that your parents brought you into a bar as a child and hung out there drinking, then yes I am saying you had bad parents.. Right along with the winners I had.
I strongly disagree and am all the better because of it. When you shelter your kids and try to hide alcohol from them, that's when they turn into beer pong playing binge drinkers after you turn them loose at 18. Due to the extremely sheltered upbringing of recent generations, even 20 something's are more immature then I was at 16.

Because of my upbringing, I've never associated alcohol with getting tore up and have been sipping the exact same serving of vintage bourbon in a rock glass for three hours now.

You do realize the vast gulf between taking a kid in a bar and educating them about alcohol is?

The Reign feels bad now, I associate it with getting tore up.....kinda torn now. Not in front of children, dogs maybe. :toast:
Well I do get tore up on occasion but it's primarily about flavor to me, just like my variety of e-liquids. Craft Beer also has incredible health benefits.

Please do not misunderstand. I never implied that one should hide drinking from their children or do anything less than explain it is an adult activity meant for a certain place and time.
That does not equate to taking your child to a bar and hanging out while getting drunk.
Not taking your child to hang out at the bar is not sheltering them.

There is a local vapor cafe I visit 3-4 times a week to hang out, work, and attend events they have. They also serve coffee so it's perfect to just hang out, work, and vape without being judged. It's also nice to meet the people here that have the similar love in vaping.

As I sit here, for some reason I feel this internal rage come over me when there are children in here. As I look toward the front of the cafe from the back, there is a cloud of vapor in the air. In that cloud of vapor, there is a child whom cannot be more then 4 to 5 years of age. As a father of a 4 year old daughter, I couldn't fathom bringing her in here. I don't even vape around her as I have to believe the vapor emitted into the air must have some trace of nicotine in it.

Am I wrong in feeling this way? This is the second time I've seen a child in here and it bothers me. I am getting to know the owners so I will mention something to them in due time, but has anyone else experienced this?

They have story time at this vape shop too?

If the parent wants to deal with a bored child, that's their prerogative. Sometimes the mental health of the parent is worth a child being bored for a while.

Perfectly true... unless the child's boredom is expressed in such ways as will annoy everyone else around -- then both the parent and the annoying child will get dirty looks, as in "do your job, stuff a sock in that kid's mouth, or get it OUT OF HERE."

I beg your pardon, but that was uncalled for. I couldn't quit smoking FOR ANYTHING OR ANYONE until I discovered vaping. And yeah I took it outside so he didn't have to breathe my smoke in the house. What I smelled like was none of his or anyone else's beeswax.

I don't get drunk in a bar though if my children are there during the day. It's usually a half pound burger with fries and a beer for $5 and then a game of pool or darts with perhaps a second beer while they are drinking soda.

I'll also occasionally take me thirteen year old with me to the local microbrewery where they fill his growler up with their own freshly made Root Beer or Ginger Ale.

This is how my parents did me and I see no problem with it. I find its the parents who try and shelter their kids from everything, who turn out the worst.

Wow, that was uncalled for. Way to condemn someone who picked up vaping to quit smoking. I guess vapers who don't have kids or non smokers are the only ones who should have picked up their first mod.

Out of curiosity, I have to ask.....do the robes of self-righteousness ever get hot, or uncomfortable at times?

What if it is not self-righteous? Do you think we should not tell right things to children even if we are weaklings who could not adhere to right things? Even on forum of weaklings as this one, where people too weak to quit cold turkey (me included) try to justify their weakness? Let’s at least tell right things.

You don't know the difference between these two scenarios? I really hope you don't procreate.
