Based on what I find at Lowes, in a little while, I may just give one of the LED models a shot. They mount with a bale style bracket and a pigtail rather than a stem mount which is kind of a pain, but it would give me an excuse to take it apart and check out the internals when I replace the pigtail to make it long enough to be actually useable.

Now, I'll have to look at HQI as well and see what that is all about. Too many choices!

I just checked HQI and it's metal halide and needs a ballast. It also "pulse" starts and since all of our flood lights get turned on and off as needed that isn't a good application for HQI.

Glad you found that Provari, Lizzie. On the other hand, losing it gave you the opportunity to see what else is available. My Vamos are two years old and still working like new so it does make me wonder about the durability hype of the Provari.

Well, after my Lowes visit I'm ordering an LED, 50 watt, from Amazon. Why is it everything has to have motion sensors on it? I know, I can bypass them, but why should I pay for that when I don't want it? Besides, they only had those in 10 watt, dual head models anyway. The big CFL looked interesting, and the replacement bulbs are only about ten bucks, but I just can't get into CFL anymore. They are hazardous if broken and you need an EPA permit to clean them up.

I think variable wattage is the same as variable voltage, really.

I love the variable factor since you can change it for different juices.

Yep me too. I like the variable at times, but only use mild adjustments. The variable wattage is just supposed to be more fine tuned, but I am not that picky - I just want to stay off the smokes - which I have done very successfully without investing tons on cash into new toys...

I went to see Penny today, even though it was much colder than yesterday. It was about 23º and windy. It wasn't actually so bad in the barn, out of the wind. I groomed Penny & then cleaned out her feet. Since it's colder, I expected trouble with that hind leg, so I rubbed the leg pretty thoroughly. I was amazed that she picked it up fairly readily! So I guess it's not so much a temperature variable. Now I don't know what makes her more comfortable one day than the next. I think rubbing the leg helped, though.

Other than that, not much news. I plan to bake a ham tonight, since Bill has the day off, so he'll be home for dinner. It's a recipe for a maple syrup glaze, but last time, I didn't have maple syrup, so I used honey, and it turned out just as good, so rather than buy more maple syrup, I'll use honey, which we have on hand. I think to go along with it, I'll make oven-browned potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes are sort of like french fries but cut in cubes and done in the oven.

Good thinking, btw motion sensor are indeed anoying.

Here if we break a lamp, any kind, even with depleted uranium in it. Just throw it in the trash or whatever at someone's face. We do have recycling stuff but...

Here, there's a whole recommended procedure, starting with rubber gloves and face mask and ending by taking the remains to an "approved" disposal site that handles toxic waste. Given how often light bulbs get broken I have to wonder who actually thought up the CFL and marketed it so successfully. I like to save money, AKA keep the electric bill down, but CFLs are just to crappy and, potentially hazardous. hat makes it really funny is how long fluorescent bulbs have been around and disposed of so casually.

All of my stuff, other than the 78mm cig-a-likes are all VV/VW. Funny part of it is, they all stay at the same settings all the time. The setting is based on the tank/coil in use on the device. It is handy to have, though, just to be able to change things as needed to match a tank or liquid. I am waiting to see what temperature control brings to the party next.

My GG tilemahos is the only one with just a battery and the small volt batteries.
The Tilemahos thingy is like a cannon even with just a battery.

GG stuff is beautiful!! You are lucky.

I usually vape at ten watts. So consistent I will be able to switch to kicks and keep more little stuff replaceable. From my reading, temp control is just too finicky to be worth the trouble.

Hopefully La Vamitresse will stay healthy for a long time. I have an ego to ego/510 adapter wrapped with tape-- so what killed my last one, gasket failure and juice on the innards, won't kill her.

Dangit, my Vamo setup is only nine inches long. You got me beat by one inch! If that is a ten-inch ruler.
