Last night, Bill brought home 11 cans of creamed corn. I guess the kids' mom tried one and didn't like it, though why she bought 12 cans when she didn't know if she'd like it, I can't imagine. Maybe she thought she was buying regular canned corn, then when she opened a can, she found out her mistake. Whatever, now I have to figure out what to do with all that canned corn. I found some recipes on the Internet, a few I'd like to try. Before I try any, though, I have to buy some ingredients next time I go grocery shopping. Does anyone have a favorite recipe using canned creamed corn that I should add to my repertoire?

Yep. I did it with onions, but you could also vary it with peppers sweet and/or hot.

I like the idea of peppers.

moanin', Voltaticalytes.

I've got to go get my "ears lowered", a little over due and we're going to a 45th Anniversary party for some friends tomorrow so I've got to look more presentable.

I've got to get the back 40 mowed today. I had planned that for yesterday, it was supposed to be dry in the afternoon, but it drizzled and stayed soaking wet all day. We're supposed to get more rain again tonight, but it's dry, sort of anyway, now and should stay that way until tonight. If I have time I've got to get to weeding in the garden. The only spots that are a problem are where the plants are and the weeds there are having a field day with all the rain.

Well, I feel like a "new man" after the barber visit even if I'm still the same old ugly curmudgeon. Wish there was a fix for the body like that.

I did get the weed crop harvested ahead of the rain today. The clouds are rolling in. Unfortunately, I found out I've got an elm tree infested with carpenter ants that I'll have to take down. It's about ten feet from the east edge of the yard and, if it falls, it'll take out my neighbors fence. Not that big a deal, its a 2x4 wire horse fence on wooden posts that are pretty rotted, but I'd still feel responsible and replace the fence for them.

Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

I have a long list of things to accomplish today. Top of the list is the last of the irrigation. I have about 10 trees and a couple of sprayers left to get on the new system.

I'm sure I have weeding to do but I am almost done in the North Forty, as I like to call it. Of course, it is maybe an acre and a half.

I think the neighbor is coming over to weed.

I went by some garage sales yesterday. Didn't really find much of what I was looking for [outdoor furniture] but I did find a big traffic control sign that says slow on one side and stop on the other side [for my neighbor, she loves signs] and I got a small camp stool that looks brand new and a rake.

Wow, do I lead a boring life.

Good morning Folks. Nothing boring about a busy life Lizzie. I find the way you grow things, your horses and your creativity pretty exciting.

That old expression brings a shudder to my spine every time I hear it - back about 30 years ago I had a barber laugh at a joke while he was razor cutting around my ear - 7 stitches later I was not happy - he thought I still owed him for the haircut... :-x

I had an incident, like that, but without the stitches. A younger guy, still learning, got me pretty good on the ear as he was talking and trying to gesticulate. Not a good idea on his part, LOL. Just a "little" blood and some sting from the styptic.

Semi and Awsum - OMG, sounds really scary!!!!!

I can't believe the guy still wanted to get paid, Semi.

We are well into the nineties here today but apparently the heat wave doesn't start until Wednesday.

I'm waiting to go outside until it starts cooling off some more.

Lizzie, if it's in the 90s now, and that's not the heat wave, what temperatures do you expect starting Wednesday?

97 degrees followed by 98, 99 a few "cooler days" and then 100 and 101. Let's hope that changes! I feel kind of trapped in the house when it gets that hot.
