So today we had court, and.... She was found guilty!!!! several fines and a year of probation! YES! (fist pumps enthusiastically!)< why aren't there any emotis for that besides ? Oh well it works!
OH and they have like a permanent restraining order... sweet! They are moving faster than ever... Oh joy!!!

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

Another beautiful day. I fed the critters, picked up some stuff in the yard, paid a couple of bills and got busy with my new little pony. When I feed I stand there for a moment or two so it doesn't look like I am running away from him by the food. Today it looked a lot like he wanted to reach around the feeder and show me his teeth. He thought about it momentarily and remembered he will get slapped on the lips for that. Then he went back to eating. I could be wrong but that is what I thought I saw.

We did better and worse today It took me quite a bit of convincing to touch the horse. In the end, I got him into the halter and he got his treat in a bucket. I left the halter on him so that I can snap a lead line on him next time I get in there with him. The good news, he is dropping his head down and relaxing more. He is still pinning his ears back sometimes and looking grumpy but no attempts to bite.

He is learning not to turn with his .... towards me. Whenever he turns wrong I gently pressure him to move out and walk around the pen. He is not attempting to kick me and never has so far.

I'm glad you're having a beautiful day. Here, it started to rain, and we might get some snow this weekend. I can't believe it! But tomorrow, both Bill & I have appointments to have our winter tires put on our cars, so we'll be all set.

Lizzie, I think the pony is testing you to see if he can be boss and you'll be intimidated. I think you're doing fine, being firm, not afraid, but not punishing him either, and rewarding him with treats when he does what you want. I think he'll come around. I guess he didn't get much handling or training yet. That's what it sounds like to me. You could try working Wiseguy outside the pen but nearby where he can see. They say that horses don't learn from observation, but I don't believe it. Anyway, it can't hurt to do with Wiseguy what you want to do next with Glitch. Like grooming him. That might look like a nice thing to Glitch if Wiseguy really enjoys it and shows it.

I hope you'll get him gelded soon so you can put them together and they can bond. Even after gelding, ask the vet how long it might take for the hormones to subside. Be cautious about getting them together. But putting Wiseguy nearby where Glitch can see him is going to help them get together eventually.

Glad you won, Celti! It is nice when the justice system actually works, although it still seems to move like molasses in January.

Lizzie, just go slow and don't push him too hard and you'll win the battle. I'm not a horse person, but you seem to have a good handle and technique. Gelding him (ouch!) will probably help a lot.

It's been nice here, a little cool, but still not bad. I've been outside painting the fence I built. The actual panels are vinyl lattice, but they're framed with wood and it was time for paint. Imagine painting twenty picture frames four by eight feet on both sides. I'll finish it up today, I hope. The prediction was for showers, but they fell apart and it looks like it'll be dry and breezy all day instead. We're supposed to get some frost on the pumpkin tomorrow night and Sunday night though.

THANKS - but in all honesty - if only I really could keep track of these birthdays it would be a real miracle . . . Heck - I barely remember even "My" own Family members birthdays (BTW: Who also always forget mine) and a number of "My" Friends/the people I have known for well over 30 + years . . . I have just been lucky enough to have notice some of the Birthdays of "My" ECF Friends when I come across them (like on FB) or if I check out either the front of the Forum, or I am looking for a specific post through the search options and one of them pops up . . . SO - I really cannot take credit for that good of a memory . . .

Matter of fact, knowing that I posted "My" Usual Happy Birthday message here, I wanted to do so again for "Trit" - So I did a search on this thread using the word Birthday & Posted by Member: "Uncle" then checked the box for "On this thread only" and clicked search - Resulting in a list of those post . . . That is when I noticed I missed "Wuzznt Me's" Birthday . . . BTW: The Next Couple Birthdays I found on this thread are: "Cindycated" Oct 28th and "Ms. Wuzz" Oct 31 . . . Just Sayin' . . .

I'm skipping my next birthday.

Glitch [aka Pony Baloney] is finally developing a sense of humor. Nice to see. He is still having the grumpy face fairly often but after working with him yesterday he started approaching me with a low neck and head indicating a more relaxed attitude.

He nibbled lightly on me once and got smacked for it. There will be no biting in my pen!!!!

He is now doing "back" well. He is swinging his hind quarters away with a wave of my hand [that's considered a good thing]. You want to be able to move his feet.

His eye is softening and he let me hug him around the neck. I like that little pony. He still doesn't like being touched but I have managed to run my hand all the way down his back to his tail and down his neck and sides a number of times. I want to be able to groom him so I am working on that. I also want him able to be handled for the operation in a week or two.

His tail is dirty and he needs a good brushing!
