Just as an FYI:

"You" never know what Ya' might find at a shelter when "You" decide to add to "Your" Family . . .The last "Family" member I was very lucky enough to adopt was a pure breed "English Cocker Spaniel" that was visiting a no kill shelter at the time that no one wanted (was actually there for a few weeks) - until I came along . . . He was perfect in every way . . . Just Sayin' . . .

BTW: There was also some other pure breeds available there too . . . SO - Think about checking out a shelter before buying - Ya' just might find a "Corgi" or 2 . . .;)

Oh and here is a picture of "Muffin" . . .

I have been looking shelter dogs but nothing has caught my eye. Not interested in a pit or pit mix and I don't want a Chihuahua or Chihuahua mix.
I loved my corgi. Busy, barky but smart and a good dog who loved to play toy. Also, natural herder with the goats. And just looking at her made me smile.

Tritium, glad you caught and embarrassed the culprit! Our street is kind of a country road and a way to avoid traffic for those that know the area. We get candy wrappers, fast food bags and wrappers, empty beer and liquor bottles and all kinds of other crap people throw out of their cars as they speed by, in a 25mph zone. It really pisses me off and there's no way to stop them, at least no way that wouldn't get me in trouble.

We used to live in a small community on the edge of a large city. Teens would go out there to party. My kids and I would go out cleaning up on the roadside. Found a lot of stuff for the garbage. Maybe ask some organization to participate in cleanup, or local juvenile probation could take care of it for kids to work out their restitution hours.

YEP - That was the same with "Muffin" . . . Wasn't specifically looking for any pure breed really, just wanted to check out who was available for adoption and to add to the "Family" . . . The funny thing is there were a number of Cocker Spaniel's in a pen, different Colors/Genders/Ages . . . Each and everyone of them were all being very friendly, running around, jumping up to be petted . . . AND - There was "Muffin" sitting in the back waiting, all cute & cuddly . . . I asked and was allowed into the pen . . . Went up to him to see if "We could/would get along and after he looked up at "Me" . . . That's all it took . . . "We" became FAMILY . . . It was after all the paperwork was done that I found out that he was a pure breed English Cocker Spaniel . . .

AND - Talk about a change of temperament when Free, "We" weren't even out of the Shelter parking lot going to the subway to get back home, when he start to cheer-up and became the puppy he really was . . . Could not have asked for a better match, very active and playful puppy (and the best thing was he was already "trained" ) - yet calm and collected (lapdog when watching TV) in the apartment . . . Well that is until there was someone at the door who shouldn't have been there - turned out to be a real great guard dog too - which of course living in NYC was a Good thing . . . ;)

ANYWAY - I hope everything works out and "You" are able to find a New Family member to the household . . .

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

The dog saga continues. We are reviewing large rat terriers [Decker rat terriers] which seem like they would be a good fit for our lifestyle. The prices are within the realm of reason. There are breeders in Oregon, California, Arizona and Colorado.

They can be carriage dogs, rodent and other hunters, tough, short coated, nice size at 20-30 pounds, athletic, like to be with their people.

Too far away. I am on the west coast of Wisconsin, and the Mississippi is not wide enough for such waves to build up. However, surfers are taking advantage of it. With wetsuits, of course.

moanin', Volties.

It's windy here, too, and going to get windier as the day goes on. The result is a big drift of leaves against the fence on the east side of the yard. Oh well.

I never thought of a Rat Terrier, but that might work out here as well. We always seem to have a bumper crop of bushy tailed rats hanging around and digging little holes all over the yard(s). That would give them a good work out and get the rodent population under control in an "earth friendly" way.

I know, I'm mean calling a cute, little, fuzzy, squirrel a rodent, but that's what they are. The amount of damage they can do is utterly amazing. I've seen them chew through copper flashing to get inside a house to do REAL damage to wiring and stuff stored in attics.

Oh Lizzie, those terriers are good looking! I might be a bit biased, my Mac is a Smooth Fox Terrier. They can be a little bit high strung, but so loving and loyal. I don't have a recent action shot handy, but I found a video with a dog that looks a lot like Mac, and yes, they bounce!

I know there are dogs that need good homes but my best dogs are always the ones we raise from puppies and I want a long term companion.

I have been talking to a breeder in Palo Alto and she is having a litter soon. They will be about 22-25 pounds full grown. Nice size.

Qew - The video was fantastic and made me want one of those little fireballs!!!!
