Wonder how Rave is doing?

Congrats on the new "ride", Sandy! I always liked Subaru, never owned one though, and I thought that's what we were going to get when we bought our last new car. It ended up a Civic instead. Oh well.

You can give the insurance company a shot, Lizzy. We had a roof claim, years ago, and it worked out for use but the adjuster was very easy to work with in our case. Nothing to lose by trying though.

After about a week of rain and cool temperatures we've graduated to July. It was 50 when I got up and will be passing 65 in a few minutes on the way to 85 today. I going out to harvest the weeds which have gotten a "little" high with all the rain.

I'm going to see what I can do with the insurance company, Wuzz. I'm just waiting until after the holiday to call.

Looks like we might be doing the same thing with the weather here. It's been cool and it almost rained yesterday. Next week it is supposed to be going hot.

My client cancelled but I am okay with that. I'm tired and I have a few more plants to plant and a bit more weeding I can do today. If I finish with all the planting today, the plants should have enough time to get established before the hot weather hits.

The good news is that the weather prediction looks really good for Saturday when I am taking Wiseguy to drive.

Looks like a pony was attacked by a mountain lion in Stagecoach which is just over the hill from us. That is scary.

Do you think you will be able to eventually get Baloney to drive. Would be a fun thing to get a team hooked up to the cart.

With the sisters outside as an alarm, doubt that any mountain lion would be successful.

Due to the height difference, Pony and Wiseguy won't be team but I do think Pony will eventually drive.

Be nice to give them their exercise on alternate days. Or even drive them to the nearest store, with one behind to hook up on the way back.

Poor pony :( is he or she ok? I would be scared and nervous as well with having an attack that close and by such a strong predator. Be careful, and I hope it does not come over to your house.

They are saying he isn't out of the woods yet and he has both front legs bandaged and his face looks kind of ragged. I don't know what other wounds he might have but he did require a vet and stitches. They found cat prints nearby.

People are claiming they have seen a mountain lion in our town as well.

The cicadas are getting loud! They remind me of spring peepers, except they are not as squeaky. We got a video of one hatching Saturday morning. It was really neat to watch their color change and wings grow right before my eyes! Were still friends right now :) None have flew into my hair yet ;)

I think I have one small area left to work on in the irrigation department. The rest of it should be done. I'll have to walk through and check. I hope there isn't anything I missed since I would have to order more tubing at this point!

I still have a desert willow, some verbena and three tomato plants to plant. I think I will wait 'til later in the day. I'm hungry...is it lunch time yet!!!

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

It rained quite a bit yesterday. I enjoyed it. Gotta work and go to town today. I need some alfalfa.

The feed store owner's husband died and the store has been closed so I need to get hay somewhere else. I feel bad for her. Her husband was only 33 years old and I am sure it was quite the shock to her. She has a kid, too.

I really dislike the Wells Cooperative group. A bunch of whiners. I'm also going to get stuck with the secretarial position.

'moanin, Voltaticalytes.

It got up to 90 here, yesterday, with six feet of sunshine and is supposed to do the same thing today and tomorrow. I'm glad I got the weed crop harvested yesterday. The ground was still pretty wet from all the rain which kept the dust down to a minimum. Today is weed control for the driveway, if I don't do that I'll need to mow the driveway and that seems "wrong".

I don't envy you with the co-op, Lizzie. No matter what you do you won't satisfy everyone and they'll whine and complain not matter what. I do hope you end up at least controlling water prices/availability for everyone's benefit though.

Good morning Volties. I feel for you Lizzie. HOA's, Church Committees and things like the co-op group you're in are things I avoid at all cost. Seems there's always one or two that thrive on drama or pride themselves on having a different opinion, even if they have to develop one to get attention.

Wow Awsum. You're actually a few degrees warmer than us and with rain. That's all that keeps my mower silent is this dang dry spell. We need a good soaking bad. Meanwhile all I can do is put out Roundup along the fence lines and anyplace else I don't want to use a weedeater on.

I gave up on Round-Up and products like that. I'm trying something from Tractor Supply this year and, so far, it looks promising. Much slower to show any effects, about a week, but it's supposed to last a lot longer. We shall see. With the amount of driveway and parking area I need to keep "tidy" the cost of applying Round-Up was getting way out of hand.

Then, there's the fence line and that needs something designed, specifically, for "woody" weeds like ivy and sticker bushes. Once I get the driveway done the fence line is next up. The product I use there I got from Agway and it works really well, once a year and that's it.

Let me lmpw what you are using in the driveway. I'm getting tired of pulling weeds by hand or using a shovel to cut the weeds off in the gravel driveway.

Will do, Lizzy. I bought a 40oz bottle, $25, to try it out, but they sell it by the gallon as well. It was on sale when I bought it. 2oz to 1 gallon or water so it goes a long way. With the constant rain we had I ended up doing a section, then waiting almost a week before the next section got interrupted by rain, again. I have a sort of checkerboard at the moment but it does seem to be working. Time will tell.

Gotta go put my lifting belt on and haul the AC up from the basement.

The first turtle I have seen this year! It just came out of hibernation. Poor thing looked like it felt rough. It had mud all over it, and was breathing hard. I found it coming across the road to my yard for water. So I brought him/her to one of my springs for some good clean water :) I just love turtles!

'moanin, Volties.

Still wondering how Rave is doing.

Another hot day here, in the 70's already. I'm glad I got the AC set up yesterday, although right now the windows are open to take advantage of some fresh air.

Being the compulsive tinkerer I am, I had to build another mod. This time I used a DNA75 and installed it into a Proto "ERM" (Evolv Reference Model) case. It's just another box mod in reality but it is really small. I'm powering it with an 18650 battery. I modified the case with magnets to hold the case closed, rather than screws, to make battery replacement easier. I am really surprised at how small it came out to be. It is taller than an iStick 30 but not a heck of a lot bigger. Battery life isn't too bad and I'm using LG HD2 batteries, 2000mah, because they have a higher continuous drain rating. Mrs. Awsum likes it so I'm building another one, case is on the way.

How are you doing, Wuzz?

It really didn't take much "ambition" or work. The case was already machined, complete with buttons, and all the board needs is a 510 and a power source. Solder a total of three wires, drop the board in the case and it's done. The "time consuming" part was drilling out the screw holes for the magnets and waiting a day for the JB weld to harden. The ones I've done previously, DNA200 and DNA40, were way more labor intensive and time consuming.
