Evening folks. No need to wonder about me in a hurricane. I'll be fine every time. I've survived many. They bring the water tables back up and provide me with enough firewood for about two years. I've been up to a month without power, never missed a hot meal complete with fresh meat and seafood and taught my Eagle Scout son to do the same. A country boy can survive. I always gave my son a long leash too Rave and he has not disappointed me. Also very different from most his age group. Cept the girl he married from Detroit got quite a culture shock lol. We love her dearly but a country girl she isn't. Arthur provided us with some badly needed rain and a nice balmy breeze but that wuzz about it.

Happy Fourth of July

Everyone!!!

I might be running away from home today to spend my weekend ... elsewhere. I have double the young folks here and a dog of the little and yappy variety. Too many life forms tends to make me edgy. I'm thinking that making good my escape would be a great idea.

So! Have a great holiday weekend!!

Good night. Here are some flowers that were growing in Watkins Glen. I don't know what kind they are. The leaves look a lot like grape leaves, but I never saw blossoms on a grapevine. But if there are grapes, don't there have to be flowers first?

I think what you captured there is Rubus odoratus (purple flowering raspberry). It has no thorns and maple-like leaves and a raspberry-like fruit. Dunno for sure. They aren't native here.

I'm not good at plants, I think the only ones I can identify for sure are tumbleweeds, stickers, algae and moss. :)

It is now 74 deg out. I just returned from a walk, wearing jeans. I don't care what anyone says, I should have worn capris. I slipped a bit, and bought two s'mores brownies from an Amish boy. I also discovered a low-cal snack. They put in sidewalks in this tiny village last summer. They put straw where they had disturbed the ground, and I saw plenty of wheat. Unripe wheat-berries are a nice snack!! I think I will pluck a head every time, just at the point where they are nice and fat, but haven't yet outgrown their covers. Anyway, I walked to the campground and around it, and back home.

I am happy to hear that from you, Jerry.
