Celtic, school is a cruel place. I didn't enjoy it much, either. Kids left to their own devices can be really mean. Did you ever read Lord of the Flies? That's not school, but the idea is the same. I think raising consciousness about bullying might help. I'm glad they are thinking more about this these days.

I didn't read it but I did watch the movie.... Jeez I don't think any of those kids had common sense. Poor Piggy!

I was bullied really bad in middle and high school. I had a constant run in with the captain of the girls basketball team. She wrote vulgar notes about me and when I tried to tell my Principal, who was the same ethnicity as this girl... He sided with her. I know if I were a parent in nowadays time I would be worried to send my kid to the same schools I went to.... They don't care.

There was a bully in my high school, who always picked on a nerdy looking guy. Finally, the "nerdy" guy had enough and invited the bully outside. The bully went outside with him, full of confidence. A short time later, the bully was dragged back into the school, bloody and crying. The "nerd" walked back in, without so much as a mark on him.

I just smiled.

I know if I were a parent in nowadays time I would be worried to send my kid to the same schools I went to....

There are areas in this country where the intercultural wars are so deep that tuition vouchers may be the best way for students to receive an education compatible with home culture. Home-school cooperation and respect are essentials for a good education.

I will no longer be able to order supplies by a debit/credit card. I used to give FFIL the money and use his card but he is getting it shut off. Is there a rechargeable card I can buy to be able to get my vape stuff with?

I have heard of those, Celtic, but I never had one. Check with your local stores, they may have them.

I just watched Lord of the Flies again after all these years. The last time I saw it was in a movie theater, when it first came out. Boy, does it make me think about human nature and the way things work!

And, from Jerry's advice to read Evangeline by Longfellow, which I did a while ago, I've been reading his complete works in a book I have. There's a poem, Christus, about Jesus, which reminds me of this movie: when someone wants to get in power and stay in power, he'll do anything, including murder, to eliminate competition. That's why they put Jesus to death. Like Ralph in the movie, he wouldn't compromise and just keep his mouth shut and join in whatever was going on. Maybe standing up for what you believe against all opposition isn't a good survival tactic?

Why not ask them? Shipping might take longer if they have to wait for the check to clear. Also, you'd have to snail mail the check to them, which would take a few days. Probably those debit cards you have to put money into in order to spend it is your best bet.

I looked at the prepaid Visa's at one time as a more secure way to buy online when so many people were getting their ccs ripped off. There are fees associated with them but they're not to bad. WalMart used to carry them and probably still do. Some banks also have them.

I don't know about SI but there are more vendors than I would have thought you can send a check or money order to. Just takes longer and they don't ship until your check clears. I've never tried it that way but it'd sure beat not being able to buy at all.

Neither standing up to abuse, nor going along with it. They are both not conducive to survival. Retreat, rethink, regroup, and attack the problem again. No-one, alone, ever won a war.

Giftcard from major credit card company is the way to go, although a bit more expensive than a check. Now that takes time, but I think most vendors do that.
