Hey guys. I haven't posted for awhile so I thought I should fill you all in. The house is still going forward but it's 2 steps back, 1 step forward. It's been a nightmare. More paperwork to sign, more out of pocket expenses keep coming in, had to extend the closing date etc... I'm depressed and angry and haven't felt like being on the forum lately. The closing costs that I thought the seller was picking up isn't as much as I was originally told but I can't really trust that because I've been given so much misinformation that I don't trust what anyone says anymore.

On top of all this my credit card had 3 unauthorized transactions totally $150 today. This is the CC that I was going to use for the trip and truck rental. Now it's closed but they are expediting my new card so hopefully it will get to me before I have to pick up the truck. So with all this going on I haven't felt like socializing.

I probably won't be back until I have some good news.

Terry, I should have told you to anticipate 50% more expenses, closing costs combined with incidentals, than the estimate from any realtor. They like to be optimistic so they make the sale.

Back from my busy day. I have next week off from tutoring. Parents are going to show them how unpleasant parents can be as tutors. I have been having the unpleasant task of building rapport while getting him to work-- mutually incompatible.

Thanks all. It's been yet another day of major frustrations but another step closer to closing. The loan has finally gone to the underwriters and they are about 4 days behind. If there are no further setbacks I could be moving in 4 days. If there are more setbacks, that hair I'm hanging from could just snap.

Two interesting things on Yahoo....the "mantis shrimp" and the "giant mutant spider dog". The shrimp is real and falls into the category of things you never knew existed. The dog is a great prank!

Y'know Terry, you could have been extremely lucky and been able to move in this week. With temps around 100° F, there's no telling what the body count could have been. The weather is about to break, just in time for you to start moving and you should have some pleasant weather to move in with (of course, it's Indiana, and the weather can change in a second - but you're used to that).

You've managed to make it through the miasma of grubberment and the odd, though unpredictable maze of getting most of the financial problems kinda ironed out so you're pretty much on your way.

Of course you still have to move your self across what may best be described as the least hospitable area in the northern hemisphere (second only to upper Siberia and we won't even begin to discuss Canada), but you've managed to make it this far so it should be a piece of cake (icing not withstanding).

Just keep your chin up and avoid anyone swinging at it and you'll be fine. Oh, and when it all feels like it's coming together, just enjoy the moment - usually it doesn't last - but it does make for good tales around the fireplace in the dead of winter.....;-)

I've already made this trip once this year in a GEO without A/C 8-o so it should be a piece of cake in an air conditioned roomy truck. You're right though. It is a very boring, desolate trip.

We could be neighbors too for all I know.

I think you need to change the channel on that TV in your head to you and Rave having fun and doing stuff. What you're going through is just all the crap you need to go through to get there. So focus on the awesome life you're about to have, and just take it in stride and numbly go through the motions with everything else. If you don't keep your eye on the prize, you'll just drive yourself nuts, because there is a lot of crap involved in what you're trying to do - but peanuts, compared to the awesome life you have to look forward to.

I have faith in a lot of things. Depending on a Ryder to have great A/C isn't one of them (make sure you check that out before your drive it off the lot). That's nothing against Ryder, I just have no faith in very much of anything that rents... ;-)

As for being neighbors, well, I'm a couple of hours north of you so I doubt that we'll ever actually meet. I tend to stay as quiet and alone as possible. Oh, the cricket that shares my basement demesne with me says hello - (s)he seems to have moved to my side of the room tonight. It's alright, I'll shuffle feet and the cricket will move back to its side of the basement - there are rules...

Oh, the storms rolled through tonight. We are almost finished with them and I will have to assume that Rave will soon be finishing her share as well. The temps are supposed to drop nearly 30° within a couple of hours. Once the storm surge subsides (yes, I know I don't live on the coast) we should finally begin to have some decent summer weather. The colored leaves are an obvious oddity......

BTW, don't look at it as a boring trip - just look at it as vistas you'll never have to see again unless you pay to take a vacation...(?)

The last time I saw Washington, I was young and couldn't believe how much water the river held (Columbia). It was quite unnerving. I was used to the Fraser and the St Lawrence, not a land mass that moved by. I much preferred the coast of Oregon but, as I said, I was young.

I came to Indiana and felt it was kinda flat. Not Canadian prairie flat, but flat. Then I ran into your proposed neck of the woods - whole different critter. At least winter is a lot kinder down here than it is up north. I may remind you of that in a couple of months.

I know cindy, you're right but it seems like all I can think about is losing all that, that something is going to go wrong and plenty has gone wrong. You guys don't know the 1/2 of it but it's almost over now.

If you keep thinking like that, things will keep happening. You have to stay positive and just numbly go through it. Every time something happens, just say "oh well, this is what I gotta do to go fishing with my friend. Let's get it done!" Kind of a hokey, EST-like concept, but affirmations really do work. Be happy you're not dealing with MY crap!
