Had a lovely evening last night. It was peaceful as can be. Nothing but cicadas and birds during the day in addition to nuts falling into the creek with loud PLOPs. After night fell, it was a cacophony of katydids, crickets, owls, coyotes, and elk bugling their hearts out along with the crackling of the fire. I love this place. Have I mentioned that?

I did go fishing in the late afternoon which is when I took these pictures and the video. All in all, I caught half a dozen bluegill and one fair sized smallmouth bass. I returned all to the creek because I neglected to bring butter and cornmeal. So, it was hot dogs for dinner for me.

My fishin' pond

My chair (that's right - I really am a rock sitter)

My land on the other side of the creek

The water is really low for having had such a wet summer

Undercut trees just below my campsite

Just to share the peacefulness with you:

The night wasn't too cold and my sleeping bag felt warm and snuggly. Note to self: Next time, take my injectable meds to bed with me. Injecting oneself with room temperature meds is fine unless "the room" is around 50 degrees. Just sayin'.

This morning, I discovered that gremlins had invaded my tent during the night and put some type of soundless explosives in my hair. There is no other plausible explanation for the hairdo that I woke up with. Just sayin'.

I'm back home now but I'll probably go back down for the night. There are things that I have to get done at the house.

What I found funny was, no one sang the last note, and all the dogs looked around at each other as if to say, "Well? Who's supposed to bark that one?" and no one seemed to know.

Didn't you notice the total slacker on the right, that seemed so out of it during the whole song? Everybody was looking at him, cuz he wuzz 'spozed to.

Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Thanx Unc. I lold. I woke up 70 this morning and went to work half day. Never thought I'd make it this far.

I started quoting you guys but it would have filled up a couple of pages so I just liked the posts. Thanx everybody. It's been a great day so far, rainy day that it is. Snow crab clusters for dinner tonight and I'll bet my Bride has snuck in an ice cream cake for dessert. We've got the Fire Dept. and Forestry service on standby.

Sounds like the EU is taking lessons from us, Trit. Pretty soon, at the rate things are going, having a bottle of bleach for laundry will need a special permit here.
A few years back my mom went to stock up on some bleach that was on sale. She bought about 10 I think. Well anyway next thing she knows a cop shows up at our door asking what she was using all that bleach for and she told him that it was on sale and she uses it to treat her swimming pool as she opens it up every year. it turns to chlorine and kills the algae build up from the winter. Plus all he really had to do as look at her to see that she wasn't on drugs (my mama was kind of overweight{shh don't tell her I said that! ;)})

Good morning awsum, trit and sandysu.

Yep, there are so many laws now you can't hardly keep track of all of them!

I have a house to clean today. I need to get out of here early. Then gas and groceries.

I'm doing a roast in the crockpot so dinner should be very easy. We will be having French dip sandwiches with my home made burger buns. The burgers were extra good yesterday because of the homemade burger buns:) Bread is fairly easy to make but it takes a lot of the day to raise, punch down, raise, turn out, shape, raise and bake!

So windy yesterday that I couldn't put the trash out so I need to do that now! I think we are the first stop for the trash guys.
My mom and her cousin used to have bread making contests. they'd sabotage each others bread and start laughing so hard they'd shake the bread down before it could rise good! I miss those good ol' days! :(

I'm going to have to use an air compressor to blow them out.
Lol Happy birthday wuzz!!! Hope your birthday wishes come true!HappyBirthday.jpg

I rode Penny with the boy and his horse Jasmine. We are working on getting her to cross a small creek. First, we did it in hand, and now under saddle. She is still skittish about it, but she actually walked in the water (quickly) instead of leaping over it this evening. After the ride, we turned them out in the pasture, and I took some photos.

Here are the 2 horses. Penny is in the foreground.

    A head shot of Penny.

I know that I will be buying more rta's down the road, but first I gotta master this thing. Papa Sloth ran the calculator and told me that I would need about eleven wraps to get two 4Ω coils. I am somewhere in that ballpark, running at 1.5Ω. I had problems with running the middle coil leg for the second coil under the first coil, so I couldn't trim it right, and ended up with a bunch of shorts. Once I figured that out, I was good-to-go. What with the bad internet, I was getting very frustrated. I actually was able to thread the wick using a sewing needle. That is some tiny stuff!

Plus one of the spare screws fell on the floor, but I ran my hands on the carpet, and found it.

The frustration eased once I started playing some classical music on my phone.
