People do all sorts of stupid things. My mother was fooled for a while, until she met my father. He set her straight.Well, I guess P. T. Barnum was right if some people think that skin tone is an indicator of "better" people.
Such people are getting more and more marginalized. I don't expect it to completely disappear in our lifetimes, however.I certainly am glad that society has changed quite a bit. It is definitely getting better about shoving people into little boxes based on outward appearances. At least, I think it is.
I battled it out and won, there was absolutely no reason he could keep me out, but I was breaking new ground. One of my friends decided auto shop was a good idea as well and when she had her appointment, she also convinced her counselor. The instructor was not pleased, he made a big deal out of it, keeping the lights on during films, making sure our chairs were spread more than arms distance from any of the guys. He was always very condescending to us. This was classroom only, no actual shop work for the first class, but I got a lot out of it. I just wanted to learn how my car worked, and I did. The next year lots more girls signed up. That was early 70's, my how times have changed! (Raspberry to Mr. Zasadny and Mr. Benjamin!)Oh, and the Senate too.
Ha-ha! You had me going with that first post! I should have known better!
