Trit, I like feta cheese. I had it in Turkey, and it was very good there. What I loved was eating simit with feta cheese. Do you have anything like simit in Greece? See Simit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia where they give its name in Greek, too. They have lots of foreign food here in the US, but I've never seen simit for sale here. Weird, huh?

I learned it was called simit, even though I was in Izmir. I never heard the other name used, though maybe it was, and I just didn't know what people were talking about. And the kind I had was with sesame seeds on it, not with any other seeds.

The closest thing here is a soft pretzel, though that has salt on it instead of sesame seeds, and it's not in a ring.

Thanks but that's what Rave keeps saying but I've lost hope. Positive thinking has never worked for me so if I don't give a .... anymore than it will probably happen sooner rather than eventually.

For example, when I get tired of waiting for a phone call, i call somebody. Sure enough, the call I was waiting for comes while I'm on the phone.

When I get tired of waiting for BF to pick me up to go for a beer I crack open a beer and he shows up within minutes.

Pos thinking isn't all it's hyped up to be. Just sayin....

That really works. Another one is, if you are waiting for the bus to come, light a cigarette. After the first or 2nd puff, viola! The bus is there, and you have to put the cigarette out.

Exactly. :p

Here's another. While waiting in the doctor's exam room for an hour....take a vape and in will pop the dr.

You're probably right.
Ah, but you see, Terry, there is a problem. Raven is determined to make it happen and when Raven decides that something is going to happen, then it does happen. She can ruin anyone's negative, pessimistic attitude about things.

Don't let her influence you or your way of thinking. We pessimists must stand our ground, hold our position, at all costs. I'm rooting for you, Terry, pessimism will win out !!!!!

Hi 0mg !!!!!

She's been trying her darnedest. I'm hoping some of her optimism will rub off on me but old habits are hard to break especially ones that work.

Right now Sandy is to me as Rave is to Terry.
Seriously, it's wonderful to have someone who believes in us. You two are blessed to have such friends. :)

Tonight, I rode with Jasmine and the boy. We crossed the little creek at the grassy place. There was more water in it from some recent rain, and someone had driven through it so there were tire tracks, which made it look different. Jasmine wasn't sure about crossing, but she finally did, regressing a bit to jumping over it again.

Then we rode around a grass field on the far side of the creek. The boy cantered Jasmine. She started to buck, which he had told me she did when cantering, and I think I noticed the problem. She was trotting really fast before cantering, and was running on the forehand into the canter. That meant her balance was not there, and I think she may be bucking trying to regain it. It's sort of like running downhill, where you get faster and faster and more and more out of control. I explained this to the boy, who is a runner, so he immediately understood. He got Jasmine trotting in a more together kind of way, and then I told him to ask for a canter, and she was much better. I also told him to pull a bit on her head to bring it up when she started to lower it right before bucking, but he had to use a little leg to keep her cantering. He and his horse started to get it. I think we may do more of this and get her more balanced at the canter, and then maybe she'll be able to do it w/o bucking.

Last weekend, his mom expressed concern to me that he didn't want an instructor to come give him lessons, but he seems to be OK with me handing out advice. Maybe it's because it's not a formal lesson, and he can see that my advice makes things better. I hope he's not just being polite and doing what I say because I'm older and more experienced and he is too well-mannered to argue or say he doesn't want to do what I suggest. I think I could sense that, though. He seems to appreciate my help. And his horse does things better, so I guess you can't argue with success.

It's weird, but his mom said he doesn't talk to his parents much about the horse, and they worry that he doesn't know what he's doing, and they have both expressed relief that I'm there to provide some guidance. I know he's inexperienced, but he mainly handles things pretty well.

Meanwhile, I'm fighting artist's block (like writer's block). I have this portrait of Corky that Deb wanted me to do, and I just haven't felt in the mood to draw. But tomorrow evening, I've been invited to a birthday party for Deb, and giving her the portrait, which she was going to pay me for, is the perfect gift, so I have to get this thing done! I've been working at it, and it's starting to come together, but I just don't feel like it's fun or coming easily. It's like pulling teeth to make myself do it. But it is the perfect gift, so it has to be done. I wish it was finished satisfactorily and over with. How's that for art? Not good. After this, I'm going to take a long vacation from drawing.

Tonight, the boy said he couldn't understand how guys who run in high school just give it up after school, don't continue to run in college. Maybe they feel about running like I'm feeling about art, like it stops being fun anymore. Maybe the pressure of college classes just distracts them, and they don't want to jeopardize their grades for running. Anyway, I began thinking about those guys he was criticizing and feeling like them, that I have some talent for drawing, but I may just not want to do it now. Should I push on or quit?

On the ride home, Jasmine crossed the creek again more easily. Next time, the boy suggested we go on foot and lead the horses over the place in the woods where the creek runs through. If we can cross those 2 places, we could make a big circle, which would be nice. Jasmine is more worried about the woods crossing than the grassy one, mainly because we have worked on the grassy place more, I think. We started there because here's a lot more maneuvering room than in the woods.

I hope that someday I'll be as good a friend and inspiration to Rave as she has been for me. It'll take some doing though...I'm so far in debt. I've been hanging by a thread and she's been that thread.
I'm sure that you will be, Terry. You appear to me to be the type of person who doesn't forget their friends or their friends help and generosity. :)

Sandy, I think drawing for money would put a lot of pressure on me and would make it more like work than fun. I've also taken a vacation from drawing only because I was pushing myself too hard and it was becoming not so fun. I want to start again when I get moved but only when I feel like it not because I feel like I have to. You'll probably start feeling like drawing again when the pressure is off.

Rave really wants you there. Being her friend will repay her, I think. And I bet there will be times when she needs some help and you'll be there for her. Rave wouldn't go to all that trouble for you if she didn't really want you living nearby. I think she is looking forward to having the kind of fun the 2 of you had when you visited, and she wants to show you all those places like the fishing spots and the caves.

I agree with everything you said. I just hope it's enough and I don't screw up.

I know I'm in no position to say anything but it sounds as though your timing is off.

When you want to hear from someone, just phone the weather channel and your phone call will come through.

When you want to go out for that beer, crack a fake one or whatever you have on hand and BF will show right up.

You're just getting ahead of what life is feeding you.

Patience isn't something that you're blessed with so deal with it in a different way.

Oh, once you finally get that truck on down the road, you'll end up being my neighbor as well (that's something be terrified about - although it doesn't bother Rave that much )
