The story went that the man who photographed it and his wife, who were out walking and taking pictures, scared the weasel away when the bird landed nearby. So the story has a happy ending. They also said that weasels don't usually go after woodpeckers, though they have been known to do it.
Haven't you ever read the prophecy that, on the day you see a weasel flying on the back of a bird, there will be six months before the end of the world?

Sorry, I am getting too deep into my writing project.

Well that's ok. I was afraid you were going to say 6 months left of Winter.

I read somewhere too, to plant marigolds next to your veggies? Or is it just tomatoes? I forget. The bugs that like marigolds feed on the bugs that like veggies...something like that.

Marigolds are supposed to repel bugs. If you plant them next to your veggies, less bugs will eat the veggies.

In fact, they make fly spray for horses from marigolds. I think they are a special potent kind, not your garden variety. I read somewhere that the fly spray is made from African marigolds. Is it pyrethrins or permethrin? I forget. One is the natural form made from marigolds and one is a synthetic form of the same chemical. Both are in the fly spray I use for Penny in summer when bugs are bad: Ultrashileld black. It works the best of any of the many fly sprays I've tried. Unfortunately, they say not to use it on people, just dogs and horses. Not cats, either.

Tritium, my neighbor put up an electric fence to keep people from coming over the fence in his backyard and raiding his wood pile. I can't figure out why he doesn't use it around his garden to keep the ground hogs out.

Maybe because they'd just dig under it? Groundhogs are great diggers. They make huge holes in fields. If you ride a horse in those fields, you have to watch for the holes, though many times Penny has noticed them before I did.

Well It was 78 here today.... was. We apparently are going to have a state of emergency for the next couple of days due to incoming winter weather. Its supposed to be a high of 47 tomorrow with a low of 26.... Mother Nature must be having a crisis. Well at least I got to enjoy the heat for a day.

78? That's Washington's summer temps.

We are in for a couple arctic cold days then it's suppose to get up to the upper 40's to 50. 50 degrees sounds like summer to me now.

We got to 50 for an hour or two today and after what it's been like for the last two months or so, I almost broke out the shorts! 78 sounds stifling right now, but I wouldn't mind being stifled! Down to 40 and headed for snow.

Marigolds are pretty potent so I guess the oils could make a good fly/insect deterrent. I had heard deer don't like the smell and will stay away from them. Ground hogs do dig, but they'll climb as well and that's how they get to my neighbors broccoli. He has managed to zap himself a few times watering the plants out along the fence line so maybe that's why he doesn't used it around the garden. We haven't had a problem with critters other than a baby bunny that got in, somehow. I "escorted" him or her back out.

moanin', Volties.

We need the springtime photos, Sandy. It's snowing again. It did get a late start, about 6AM, so I don't think we'll get as much as the original prediction was for. It's 33 outside as well, not as cold as predicted, so things seem to have changed. We'll just have to wait and see.

Twilight Zone
Good morning folks. Looks like we got cloudy weather for a few daze and a chance of rain tomorrow. Must be a cold front coming through. Only supposed to get up to 70 tomorrow and Sat. At least it's warm today. High 87. You're right about the bugs though awsum. Heard a commotion in the kitchen last night and got up to see what was going on. A cockroach had pulled a switchblade on a rat and took a piece of cheese away from him.:D

Hate those feuding critters, Wuzz. As long as that roach didn't pull the blade on you. I think you might want to do some critter control though, LOL.

It's been snowing steadily and we have about two inches already. From the looks of the radar it'll keep snowing like this all day. That means clean-up in the dark. Oh well, maybe this will be the last clean-up. I sure hope so. Mrs. Awsum had a delayed opening at work, then they just closed for the day. Great being a governmental employee, she didn't have to use a sick day.

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

Following along on the thread.

I have had a busy morning getting caught up on laundry, making sure the kitchen is clean and going outside to do yard clean up with the hedge trimmer. I can't believe it is only 9:40am. Two hours until lunch time and sitting on my .... until I have to cook dinner:)

My new purse I ordered made it from Beijing to San Francisco already. Maybe there is hope that I will get it sooner than later.

WELL - I made it back to FLORIDA ! ! ! just in time . . . :rickroll:

SO @ "EVERYONE" - THANKS
- For all the "Well Wishes" - IMO - All those positive thoughts are probably the reason why everything went so well and I didn't have any problems this trip . . .

AND - Can't tell Ya' how nice it is right now, especially that I am not shoveling snow (Like "awsum" will be - I know "My" Bad . . .) but I'm actually sitting here where it is 84* (and as a Very GOOD Friend says) with three feet of sunshine - while enjoying the AC . . . Okay - NO ONE hit "Me" over the head - Just Sayin' . . .

@ "Semi" - Glad to see "Your" back . . . :D :thumb:

@ "Rave" - Just a Suggestion/or Idea . . . If Ya' wanted to share a photo of "Your" DIY Project - I don't see why it couldn't be done without having ECF Moderators coming down on "You" as a possible unregistered supplier if "You" either posted it with 1) A disclaimer that this is a DIY Project and not for sale, 2) Posted in one of the "Show Us Your Stuff" Threads (like SI use to have), or 3) Posted in "Your" Photo Album http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/members/rave-albums-mods.html . . .
Just A Thought . . .

Your did get out of Dodge at the right time, Uncle. Yeah, I'll be shoveling, well the snow blower will be anyway, probably later this evening. It's been snowing hard and the temperature keeps dropping, down to 29 with about six inches of new snow already.

I decided, since it was snowing and outside stuff wouldn't be possible (yeah like I was going to work outside anyway, LOL) to put the SSD drive in my desktop machine this morning. Keep in mind this is an older, early quad core Intel that I built about seven years ago. It has run 24/7 ever since it was built without a hitch so hats off to Seagate drives! Anyhow, after cleaning out all the dust, and a hats off to Antec because their case fans have yet to fail, I hung the drive on and installed the software that came with it, ran the software and cloned the original C drive onto the SSD drive. The clone process, about 40 gigs, took about fifteen minutes which surprised me. Then, installed the SSD where the old C drive had been, powered back up and it worked flawlessly, no license issues with anything at all!

That machine runs Folding at Home which is a very CPU intensive program and runs all the cores at 100% utilization all the time. On top of that, the video security software is on that machine, running 24/7 as well. The first thing I noticed was that boot time was significantly faster than my sort of new i5 laptop, both are Win7/64 Pro. The next thing I noticed is that applications load as fast as I click on them, even with Folding and security software running and the CPUs at 100%. It's like I got a new machine for the price of an SSD. I guess if I add some more memory that might help as well, although there are 8 gigs of RAM in it already.

So, if you want to upgrade on the cheap, try installing an SSD drive. I am amazed at the difference.

Hey all.

Awsum that is correct, faster access times but limited space.

Seems like electronics design software doesn't fit on the screen of the probook....
I had an old monitor i got for free, repaired it and now it works by connecting the probook on it but it looks weird, it's a square display not a wide one.
