Sitting down, facing forward.
'moanin, Voltaticiznes.

Another dreary morning, not very hot at least but really, humid. We're supposed to get rain, on and off, all day as a front comes through and clears things out. After that some nice weather for a few days, then back to the summer swelters. I was hoping to do that little mulch project this morning, but it's too damp and I don't feel like covering myself in eau d' OFF to work out there. The bugs will be relentless, even with OFF, in these kind of conditions.

I'm seeing some rather strange behavior of my little weather station. Temperatures showing highs in the 200+ range occasionally, wind speeds showing highs approaching 600MPH and barometric pressures approaching 100 inches, not millibars, for highs. I posted over on the forum for the product, but since it's the weekend I probably won't get any answers before Monday.

It's spreading everywhere. No respect for law, law enforcement or even common courtesy and common sense. Between social media, the "main stream" media and the agendas of politicians the outcome has been inevitable and conditions will only get worse.

Sorry if I seem overly negative.

Hey, Duckie, how's the chicks doin'?

We're still, vicariously, raising pups by watching that puppy cam. They're down to five from the original ten, one seems to have not made it at birth and four more have left over time. The whelping box is gone and they are getting big. They were weaned fairly early on, too. Their latest trick is pulling at a corner of the seamless flooring that is the floor in their "room" and pulling it back and gnawing on it. It's a temporary area for them, apparently, so the flooring isn't cut and glued in place. I hope they don't actually eat it, that might not be a good thing.

We did hear from our breeder and the "deed" was done. Now we're waiting to hear if the Mommy is actually pregnant. The wait is killing us both.

I just got back from a run to the post orifice, the lab to drop off a "sample", Lowes to get some more mulch (the decorative kind) and the grocery store to pick up some important sale items, ice cream and steak. It is brutal out there. At Lowes they will load your car when you buy bulk and I was sweating just waiting for the guys to get around the corner of the building. I do have to go out and get it out of the Jeep, it leaves a slightly (NOT) earthy ambience in the car otherwise. I guess, since I'll be handling it anyway, I'll spread it around where it needs to go. Think I'll take two bottles of water with me when I do that.

The chicks are doing great! The 2 blacks are hens, and I think the yellow like one is a rooster. They are feathering out. I will take some pictures tomorrow :)
Fingers crossed that shes pregnant! Puppies are so cute, and they are hilarious to watch. I also hope they are not eating the floor, because it could hurt them.
Mulch makes flower beds look great. I think it gives them a neater look, and it spruces things up.

Right after I made that last post I was sitting here eating an apple and noticed it was getting a little dark outside. So, I checked the local radar and the thunderstorm was about five miles west of us, moving east. I ran out and threw the mulch into the lawn cart and parked it in the big shed. Closed the tailgate and windows and came back inside. Two minutes later it was pouring. Maybe I'll get to spread that mulch out in the morning, between thunderstorms.
It sounds like you barely beat the rain! It sucks when the weather messes up work plans.

    'moanin, denizens of Voltville.

The prognosticators had it half right, at least. We never got the rain and storms that were predicted, at least not in our little area of the world, but the front came through and we've got six feet of sunshine, balmy temperatures and the humidity is dropping rapidly. It's nice to be able to shut off the AC and enjoy fresh air again.

We went to dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant, actually a pizzeria that serves dinners as well, yesterday. We've been going there for almost 17 years and have yet to have a bad meal or a bad pizza for that matter. It amazes me the place isn't mobbed at dinner time, great food, reasonable prices and a nice friendly staff. I guess most people only see it as a pizza joint and haven't got a clue that the "real" food is so outstanding.

The photo of you (?) and Wiseguy (?) in the water is great! If it were me I'd blow it up to framing size.

No, Lizzie, we're not sure yet but I think it's a good possibility. At least I sure hope it is.

Ducky, the advantage of being retired is that when work get interrupted by weather, there's always tomorrow. That means I'll be doing the mulch later today.

The set had this cool floral top and it is made of expanded metal.

This is the cool patio set I found when I went to a yard sale. The chairs are spring loaded and rock and the double seater is a glider.

This is the deck stained. This is the more accurate color of the deck out of the two photos.

Since the deck is finally done except for some pavers and another step [which is why the stain doesn't go all the way down in the front on the step that is there], I am finally doing some yard clean up. Also, cleaning the horse pen and the horse trough.

We have a dog door to install. Hoping that will happen today. Hubby has been great about getting stuff done.

    'afternoon, Voltiaticalytes.

That deck looks spectacular, Lizzie. A really nice job to say the least! What did you use for the roof?

I wanted to work outside this morning, the weather is really nice, but had to mix some liquids. I forgot that before I could mix I hd to mix up some ethyl maltol, quick and easy, and some Tobacco Absolute. TA is a bear because I make it from, basically, a concentrated paste and mix that with PGA. Getting it to dissolve, completely, is always a challenge. Heck, just measuring it semi-accurately is a bear as well. I did get 500ml of liquids mixed though and some of that is in the UC cleaner getting a "speed steep" right now (ran dangerously low on Mrs. Awsum's favorite flavor). Then I had to run to the post orifice so I'm just eating lunch now.

Maybe I'll get outside for a little while after setting up lunch for tomorrow and dinner for tonight.

    Your nearest hydrogen bomb.
    How are you guys?
    Lizzie those are nice pics!

I was looking at jobs in UK today and they were asking for a 2nd (helper) guy with 1 year experience (i have 8 and had 17 people under me) on installing some stuff on towers which i can do with eyes closed and probably faster than anyone they have lol.
Pay is 160-180 pounds per day (seems more than the 20$ i get today lol)

P.S. rave, Wuzz and Uncle still thinking about you.

Nice to see you post, Tritium. Keep in mind that the cost of living is vastly different in the UK though. Still, even with that, you'd probably be way ahead of the game. Personally, I'd be happier if you found something on the ground though. I think their towers are a little taller than the ones you're usually climbing, just a guess though.

PS - second the Rave, Wuzz, Uncle and Terry thoughts.

Thank you for the compliments on the deck and photos, both you and Trit.

Awsum, the roof is bare doug fir 2x6 with white metal on top. It is actually two horse stalls with the middle filled in with extra stringers. It was my cheapest option for shade and it went up fast. It did make the deck a challenge though since I had to lay the deck over the metal pipes that make up the bottom of the horse stalls!

']Cash looks quite proud of himself. He is a little rat catcher. So far in the last couple of days he has gotten 1 kangaroo rat, two ground squirrels and a mouse.

I would like that but the little critter is rather cute... I could careless about mice and field rats. But that thing has a cute furry little tail. Poor critter.:cry:

He is a huge pest who creates major horrible tunnels that are ankle twisters and who steal tomatoes and other fruits and veggies for the seeds.

They are kind of cute, though.
