Three camps- bottom clearo, top clearo and carto users. Although I use the Vivi top coil I find a carto+ tank gives the best vape in my opinion.

Welcome to ECF. I agree with this 100%. I still use my Nova's, I truly prefer a carto/tank system. Word of caution on the tanks. Buy something of a GOOD quality. You won't regret it. Buy something cheep and you might wonder why anyone would use one of these things. These are the ones I've used.

Well... I think this is my first post ever, so here goes...

I've only been vaping for about two months... and finally put down the real cigs yesterday. I figured I would share my beginner's experience and my eventual graduation to a Sigelei ZMax V2 with Kanger T3S and Mini Protank clearos.

My wife and I started with the Smoov cig. They were re-chargeable and had small cartomizers on them. I drive a delivery truck for a living and got tired of carrying my juice around for when the carto ran dry. My wife didn't like the cotton taste, so we moved up to a genuine Vision Spinner 400 and the Kanger Mini ProTanks....NOW we were talking.... More juice capacity, more flavor, and longer battery.
However, my battery would die before I was done my work shift, so I started looking at variable power devices that would allow the use of the 18650 batteries.

My wife is happy with the Vision Spinner and even happier now that she has my battery as well, keeping one on charge whilst vaping the other, and I'm happy with a battery that will last almost a full 24 hours.

Now, instead of paying the $2.95 for a replacement coil head for the Kanger tanks, I am buying Kanthal wire and Silica wicks and wrapping my own. Screwed up the first two (shorted out), but have now perfected the art of wrapping 2 ohm coils.

The Kanthal I buy is $2.50 for ten feet, and the 3mm wick is about $3 for about 5 feet. Much cheaper than replacing the whole head.

But as the other pro's here have stated, Kanger's imho are the best clearos out there, and the Vivi-Nova's are probably the best top-coil ones.

I live in the States, so the prices may or may not be the same, but I figured I would just give you my experience starting from the beginning.

well i know this is off topic a bit, but earlier today i bought a bottle of chocolate juice from a local newsagents for £3.25 for a 10ml at 18mg bottle.... its only some generic crap, think its YNDK (thats the only thing that looks like a brand on the bottle). its giving a huge amount of vape, which i like, but i seem to be getting through waaaay too much too quickly :s already had to refil my CE5 and i only got it 12 hours ago!

Clearo's can drain liquid pretty fast. Just be glad you're going through liquid, and you're not having wicking issues.. Have you decided on what clearomizer you're going to get? If you get a cartomizer tank, I'd suggest starting out with the non-locking smoktek DCT tanks. Polypropylene, so you don't have to worry about liquids you'll put through it cracking it. For clearo, I like top coils..so iclear30..if you think the CE5 chugs juice...lol You can get glass tank clearos/glassomizers, but I don't know of any that aren't bottom coils. Protank would be what I would choose, but you could try the terminator tank. It will give you a good idea of what a protank will feel like, and if you don't like it, you can pull the atomizer out and use it as a carto tank.

I forgot to say what I actually started out with because of the topic. I started with ego-T's and drip atomizers. I'm currently using drip atomizers more than my RBA/RDA. Do you have any of these? I strongly suggest getting some. They are extremely handy for when you get new liquid, and when you just want to pull out your drawer of bottles and go to town with them.

A good chocolate liquid is really difficult to find. I don't eat much of it, so I haven't bothered looking too hard, but I've read a lot of trouble with finding them on here.

Didn't take long for someone to plug mt Baker.. Check out all the vendors. A lot of them will ship internationally.. general liquid discussion is a bit cluttered. so..

Fuzion Vapor, Alice in Vapeland, Alien Visions E-juice, J-Vape's, Heather's heavenly Vapes, Indigo, The Vapor chef, Mt. Baker, and I guess I'll throw in Pink Spot..even though I can't stand them. That will help you get started. I've used all of these vendors..and the first four are constantly in my drawer.

i've ordered the Evod, should be here by the end of the week. It seems that its literally 50/50 between people preferring BCCs and TCCs to be honest, so I thought I'd give a BCC a go and see how I take to it. I'll be keeping my CE5's as well as backups if nothing else, but considering getting a Mini Pro Tank II next week, provided my works dont .... up my pay again lol

As far as getting chocolate juice, I havent had a problem - any local shop that stocks juice stocks choc! Its coffee im having trouble getting, but I ordered a 5ml sample of caramel cappacino along with my Evod, all from Vape Escape, n it all came to about £10 summin, so all in all not a bad purchase :)

Comparing the evod to the CE5 will be good too. The evod is going to give you the same feel as a protank, and the CE5 will give you the same feel as a TCC. Seriously, try drip atomizers, and you can also just get a cartomizer without being pre-punched to see if you want to go in that direction without getting a tank. The beginning of it will give you the same flavor as a carto-tank, but after a bit, if you don't let what you've dripped into it settle through out the wick, it won't be as good as a tank.

Hope the EVOD works out well for you!

im intrigued by the whole dripping thing, but from what ive gathered, which admittedly isnt a lot, it seems to be a fair bit more hassle lol

the thing i like about clearos is their use is straightforward, where as the whole carto and dripping thing seems to be a tad more involved :s might just be me miss interpreting things lol

I have been using the IClear 16 top dual coil and really like them. Got a couple of Evods to try out----they leaked and gurgle and don't vape worth a darn. I went right back to the IClear. When I have more time I will mess with the Evods and see if I can make them work better.

well that ain't no fun did they leak out of the box new or is there more to the story ... ?

I recommended a non-punched cartomizer so you get the idea of the feel from it, before buying a tank with extra cartomizers. Once you prime a cartomizer-5 minutes with a syringe, it is good until it dies..which will have a wide range depending on your liquid thickness, sweetness, and color.

A drip atomizer doesn't have to be a rebuildable atomizer/RBA. The starter kits being sold now are now offering clearomizers instead of drip atomizers..due to it being less hassle. But when you have as many flavors as I have, you're going to want one. Even if you don't have that many, if you're unsure about a flavor, you don't have to clean your wick...since your using clearos.. if it's not good or needs to sit longer... Since I use cartomizers, I can't imagine not having drippers. If I have a liquid that isn't ready or if it's just gross, that is a waste of a cartomizer, pretty much. I can throw away $1-2 to not have that crappy flavor involved with what I end up using instead. Plus, with IBTanked, Phiniac, and hoosier vapes, you can make them look really pretty..:)

If you want to try dripping, I recommend Joyetech atomizers--they are the easiest for a beginner. Order just one or two--it's good to have a dripping atomizer on hand for trying new juices. But it's not necessary. :D

A "quick and dirty" tutorial.

well, that was ridiculously informative! can now safely say i understand the whole dripping thing! en i think i'll stick to the clearo option for the time being, possibly move on to carto, but the whole thing of people saying they can taste the filler is off putting, plus the first ever e-cig i used (one of the cigarette types) was using a carto system and i wasnt too keen :s ah well, see what happens lol
