Good morning Chooch, Chili, and Lori :)
    Morning.

Hey, Lori. :) The faucets are all 24 yrs. old and really do need updating. The whole house needs updating, but a little here.......and a little there.
Cheap fix if you can DIY.......besides HE has all these tools that need using. :D
Oh yeah, I bet those are ready, or near ready for retirement. :)
My DH is handy too. Has all the tools, just have to get him motivated...I'm the same though. I have to make tracks when the mood hits, otherwise...

My MIL has the kind that the sprayer is in the spout, you can pull it out, then it retracts back in.
Her's is a kind of gooseneck style, not sure the proper terminology, with deep sinks, that sucker oversprays all over the place, anytime you use it.
It's not defective, or malfunctioning, it's just the way it's designed.
That would've been gone day one if it were mine.

I have one of those kind of faucets, except it's not a gooseneck...ex installed it years ago and at first it was great, but now I hate the dang thing...it only seems to want to swing to one side so can't really use it but in that side of the sink and if you don't use it on sprayer mode, then the flow is very weak....I want to get rid of the dang thing, but don't have anyone around here to change it out for me. :glare:

Nope. Got sprayer to the side type faucet. Have 5 hole sink and had to fill them up!
Some of the faucets are awfully large and very much designed for a "modern" looking kitchen.......Mine ain't. I always was fearful that your MIL's type faucet would get stuck or not retract enough over time. It is a "goose neck" though by Pfister, Glenfield. Was on sale at Lowe's for $98. I'm a happy person. :D

Whew! Looks like I did a good thing bypassing the "sprayer in the faucet" thing. Had no idea they gave so much trouble. Now the old soap dispenser (24 yrs.) worked just fine. No problems during all that time. The new one is working.......so far. ;)

Last time we bought a kitchen faucet I couldn't help but notice that those sample attached sprayer ones were often on display with the "neck" kind of hanging. That signaled "Danger, Will Robinson" to me as I'd have a broken one within weeks.

We went with an older (and cheaper) model with a separate side sprayer. Too many sad tales of soap dispensers for me to invest in them, too.

My siblings just sold our family home that my Dad had built in the late 30's before he got married. It still had the original faucet, with a 40's very modern style farm sink, a porcelain sink with porcelain drain board attached. That sink is not as deep as what we see now, but it sure is a treasure. The new owner swooned.
