Ahoy, happy Saturday!

I think it's time to wake the thread up a bit before ECF thinks I've gone outta business, har!

I finished a Scallywag mini mod some days ago and have been testing it as my every day Vape. So far I am very, very please with it and except for having to swap batteries twice a day it a great mod.

I wanted to test the possibility of dying wood black so after some research I used India Ink on the wood to see how it would turn out. I think that rather than dying the wood well it actually went on more like paint. I put on several coats then did an engraving that punched through the paint back into the wood to make the engraving stand out. It then got a few coats of poly urethane. What do you think?

I'm not thrilled with the way it turned out, I think if it is scratched deep or chipped, the original wood will show through easily. I don't think I will use it anymore. (I wanted to try a 'grim reaper' engraving in acknowledgement to the Disc-World series by Terry Pratchett.)

This is the first Mini-mod that will be up on the website for sale. They are 14500 battery, 3ml bottom feeders. I only have enough bottles to sell one right now, the other will go up on sale when the 3ml bottles arrive.

SC15-1 - Figured African Mahogany

Here is a pic for size comparison to a Cutlass, Cruiser and Scallywag

Here are a couple of Cruisers that are done and up on the website. Both of these are made from African Mahogany. One has an Inlay strip inset diagonally and the other has a Celtic cross engraving.

All of the Cruisers in the batch have either engravings or inlays this time. The regulated mods are slowly moving forward as well.

I will probably be adding more mods to the website weekly as they are finished. I'm working on several projects at the same time now so things will be put up for sale as they are done.

Later all, arrrr!!

That African Mahogany is Gorgeous, and the dyed turned out nicely. I think if the dye penetrated deeper, the engraving wouldn't stand out as well. The Poly-coat should make it resistant to surface scratches, anything deep would happen from an accidental fall, and would be noticeable with or without the dyed surface.

The Cruisers look fantastic as usual, GLWTS.

Thanks! They are pretty sweet looking.

I'm afraid to admit it, but I seem have taken a liking to a 3.7v mod! I've tested them again and again before they have been sold, but this is the first time I've used one as a daily vape in years and I'm impressed by how good the taste is.

Instead of stealing a regulated mod from the batch from time to time, I think I'm going to keep a Cruiser for myself and step away from regulated mods and see how that works out for me. I'm beginning to see why the popularity of mods like the Cruiser has been growing even in this time of ever changing regulator tech. Huh, well, I never claimed to be smart, just handsome... arrr

Ahoy!

Well, it was a pretty easy weekend, only one desk caddy to do so I got a couple more mods done as well.

The bottles I needed came yesterday so the other Mini-mod is good to go. I don't think I will be making any more of them, I don't think they will be very much in demand, but here it is...

I gave it a Celtic lattice engraving on the entire reverse side;

This is the Cruiser going up on the website. I put in a pattern of diagonal cuts on each side, looks pretty cool imho.

And here is the desk caddy I made. I don't know if I have a picture of this model in Mahogany, so here ya go...

Have a great week all, arrr

I think he quit sprinkling them with gold dust after someone bought the gem encrusted one with a satellite dish and a laser sight he made a few years back.

Got that right mate. But I think it was the intelligence operatives that drug me back to the good ol' usa that learned me the errors of me ways.....

arrrr
