I dont boil either, i dont see the need frankly.
Yeah, I saw at Watson, sterilised cotton balls = $1 for 5 small balls..
I usually just head to the surgical supplies section and look for sterilised cotton and 1 pack is good enuff to last a few months even if I change the cotton wick everyday. 
Bought mine at Sheng Siong..only $1+..can last ages..cosmetic square type. .no need boiling ..I used with no funny smell or issues whatsoever. .cosmetic square type as used n reveiewed by many users worldwide has advantage as u can gauge exact amount for coil very easily..as compared to cotton balls.

I'm using sterilised cotton balls. Used too much cotton initially too till I realise it can't wick properly Now I leave it loose through the coil and "gao gao" at the body lol

I just tried 12 wraps nano on my PT2 with my MVP2 on 7 watts and 8 watts. Seems like it takes longer time to heat up and i don't get as much vapour.
Just to share, I use a 18G syringe needle coil 12 wraps on 30AWG; should get around 2ohm. Set Volt around 3.9 ~ 4.2. Hit the fire button and see if the coil light up from middle. and check the ohm and insert sterilised cotton ball.
With cotton on the coil, you drip some juice on the cotton and coil (not to much as it will flood). And assemble it back. Set the PT2 on and allow 1 ~ 2 mins for the cotton to soak well. Then vape all you want. Vapour is great.
Do not dry burn when you insert the cotton.
The con of using cotton is that you have to change it daily, as it burn too fast especially when you set the voltage on high

I using 28AWG, the wire is much thicker so i think it take much longer to heat up. Gonna experiment more and see how,
I tried 28AWG, with 12 wraps using 18G syringe needle and it's 1.2ohm. set the volt at 3.7 ~ 3.9 but the vapour was lesser and cotton burn too fast. and has after burnt taste. so now my prefer is 30AWG

Now I'm using:
28 gauge 8 wraps dual micro coils
Dragon coil build
I was aiming for a 1~0.7ohm. Turn out at a borderline scary 0.48ohms. Not sure if I'm redlining the max amperage on my battery.
I'm using a AW IC 18500. Any one can kindly enlighten me?
The build is good so far. Occasional big throat hits which I can't figure out why.

Not safe. Downright dangerous. Get some 18650 with the correct C rating if you're going sub.
The occasional big throat hit may be because the vapor is too hot for you. It never happens on the first vape right?

Sometimes it does though. Some times the hit just stays Vape after Vape.
I can't find any data on my battery, seems like it's not very popular... And I don't intend to go low sub, just right about the region of a safe 0.7ohms.
As long as you go sub, it's best to use the18650. You have a larger safety margin and it doesn't stress your battery that much. Stressing your battery will lead to a shorter overall lifespan.

Hmm... Seems like I'll stick to higher ohms then. Can't afford batteries now.
gonna put a new coil on it tonight.Before I did 8, I tried 10 wraps. Combined resistance came out at 2ohms. Unvapeable. Couldn't even get both coils hot enough to adjust it tighter and stuff.
What is your coil inner diameter or what size of drillbit or screw driver u use to make the coils? It is impossible to jump from 10 wraps at 2ohm to 8 wraps at 0.48ohm, unless there is a sort somewhere or your coil connection is loose.
