Happy Monday!
Well, we're down to two more tournaments. Saturday was a one day. And Kat didnt do so hot. She was just having an "off" day. A couple of missed plays in the outfield. Her batting was horrendous. She used to be able to maintain a near 100% on base percentage earlier in the season. She only managed to get on base twice in the four games they played. And one of them was a walk. Granted, the one she did manage to hit, she knocked the carp out of the ball and got a triple. It just seemed like every time she hit the ball, she would hit it straight to a fielder who would make an easy
throw to first to get her out. I didnt give her too much of a hard time about it. I could see she was already upset with herself about it. I did ask if she knew why she was struggling, and she gave me the right answers. At that point I knew there was nothing I needed to harp on. She knew where she went wrong. With any luck, that will be enough for her to fix it and get better.
Another little fun tidbit... At the game, we saw Melanie scratching her head. A lot. Melissa looked in her hair and about gagged. Melanie had lice. BAD. A quick glance at CJ's head... Yep. Him too. I wasnt about to run my hands
through Kat's head while she was sweating at the tournament, so she got checked when we got home. She had SOME, but not bad. We took every step we could think of. Clothes. Bed sheets. Towels. Anything their heads MIGHT have touched got washed in hot water and dried on high heat. I spent nearly four hours with the OTC creams, combing through their hair (FV, if you have any home remedies for that, Id love to hear them! The OTC cream is nearly $25!). And then did the same for Mrs E when she got home, but I dont think she had any. Then Mrs E checked me and said I was clear. It was nearly 2am by the time we got to bed Saturday night/Sunday morning. The plans that we had for Sunday were shot because of that little fact. Got Kat to practice after lunchtime. Then we went to my dad's to go swimming. We stayed in the pool until he got home at about 6:00. Then he offered to feed us, and who am I to turn down free food! Fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, okra (fried of course!), and some fried chicken that I didnt eat, thank you diet. And now two days has passed, we get to check the kids again and re-treat if needed. I'm fairly certain Melanie will need another one. CJ might be ok, and Kat should be ok. But that means every brush and hair tie and clip, bed clothes, and everything else will have to be washed again. Ungh. Our water bill is going to be over $200 because of this. Not to mention the cost of having to replace everything that has to be thrown away. And the cost of the meds. I had never had nor seen nor even known anyone with lice until Saturday. Darned kids.
On that fun little note, I've gotta scoot. Gotta meeting to get in, then only two and a half hours to get all my work done before I have to leave for the rest of the day for a dentist appt, then I need to stop and get a hair cut. I know. Y'all are jealous of my life.
