Could you quit vaping if circumstances proved it to be the best choice (read FDA/local political decisions)?

To be honest, not likely. I was not a happy camper on 0mg. I am scared of going back to smoking and know it will be a long time in the future, if ever, that I quit vaping. I hope for the best, stock for the worst. I also joined CASAA and fight against the FDA, state and local government. This vaper is not going down without a fight. Who I really fear for is all the smokers that haven't yet switched to vaping. I stock and fight for them too.

When I switched to Vaping 5 months ago I was smoking a pack a day and using a half can a day of tobacco chew. Now I vape 3-5 mils of 24mg juice and about a third can of Herbal Chew with added nicotine a day. There are very few users of herbal chew and hardly any [comparatively] that use 1 of the 2 brands of herbal chew that have the added nic option. Its the same formulation of nic as is used in nicotine gum. You can choose full, half and 0 nic. So I could vape 0 nic juice and have my nicotine added Herbal Chew and make it. anyways it might be yrs before Regs come down. There will be a grey market for nicotine solution. I DIY my Juice and rotate thru a 2yrs supply of nicotine solution in my Freezer.

Sure, analogs still (and always will) exist. So will vaping, it will just be taxed out the yahoo thanks to the unfounded fears being spread by the FDA. Vaping is a 'real' thing now, now some silly little fad that only a few people did. So now it has the attention of the powers that be who big ticket items effect, and since they 'can' spread innuendos about it, they can use that to their advantage. It's a calculated effort to give BT control of the market and BG money (taxes) from the market.

Seems a lot of folk are already preparing for the worse- I know I am.
Says a lot about our trust in a "just" American political system.

I am hoping they leave things alone, but what I really fear is that they really are just looking for a way to make up for the lost tax dollars they would be getting from us as smokers.

And contrary to popular belief, they do NOT use those tax dollars strictly for smoking cessation or paying for the ills smoking causes on our society.

When I lived in Arkansas, they used the fact that smokers where a minority to get a tax on cigarettes to build a new trauma unit. They used a tax that only effects a small percentage to benefit the whole population. But since most folks were unaffected, they felt fine with adding $1.00 a pack tax to us poor saps that are addicted to them.

In reality, they should see it for what it is, the most effective stop smoking aid available. I am not dis-illusioned and do think that eventually, they will find that vaping cause some health effects.

But the only government that has done any real scintific research to my knowledge is Australia. Their finding, "we can't say it is safe because there is no long term studies done, but it is definitely safer than cigarettes."

Not yet. If vaping was taken from me i'd probably go back to smoking :(
I'm afraid I would resort to the same solution as you, roxynoodle... I just hope they don't equate the nicotine in ejuice to the nic in tobacco when they figure out the logistics of taxing juice. The absorbed amounts are so much lower... and unfortunately for us Canadians, our government will likely follow closely behind the USA's footsteps.

For me, it depends on a few things...

If it were restricted like smoking (i.e., banned in certain places) - it wouldn't deter me in the slightest.

If it were taxed like heck - I would move to DIY.

If online sales were curtailed - I would frequent B&M's or DIY.

If flavours were restricted - I would vape the available flavour(s) or DIY.

If nicotine was not available for sale - I would probably vape 0 nic for the placebo effect (store bought or DIY).

If all of the above - I would vape 0 nic DIY.

Not that I'm lackadaisical about FDA/governmental regulation, it's just that they will not force me to quit and going back to cigs is just not an option.

Ok. So now you have quit analogs (bless your soul!).
Indeed, I have. 289 days ago.

Could you quit vaping
Could I? I don't know and frankly, I'm not interested in trying.

What, you mean because some politicians/bureaucrats want me to? Ask me if I care what THEY want. See my sig. ;)

Once I got down to 3mg I was confident I could eliminate nic entirely. Made a 30ml 0nic tester, vaped it no problem but I remember too vividly believing that I had successfully kicked the nicotine habit when I smoked only to find myself back on smokes a month or two later. So.....while I still can buy nic easily, I will stay at 3mg. If and when the Feds make that difficult I'll diy my ADV's in 0mg and chain vape my face off and hope for the best.

I think I could quit vaping if I needed to. I used to smoke tobacco cigarettes anywhere from 1 to 4 packs a day, when I started to vape I was downing ml after ml of liquid. What I've found in the past week or two is that I can vape less and less if I need to (unemployed and liquids are rather high priced around here) but it got me asking my wife the same question the other day... "Do you think we could stop vaping?" She said that she didn't think she could stop vaping without going back to tobacco where as I think that I can if I absolutely had to.

I'm about 99% positive that if vaping were not possible I would not go back to tobacco cigarettes, I just don't want to go around stinking like a dirty old ashtray *again*.

I've begun stock piling. I quit tobacco 3 years ago and will not go back. I am currently at 8mg, we rebuild kayfuns and now DIY our eliquid. The wife is a little more resistant to the idea but as the CMO (chief mixing officer) around here I will begin to ween us down each liter. With a 2 year supply on hand the day regs come down I am confident we could move to 0mg, unflavored and be set for life.

The FDA cannot ban vaping - it cannot ban smoking, so it's just a tax grab, if they can get away with it.

They will not be seizing my mods while letting others smoke in public!

Would i return to smoking? nope. Retired ex-smokers that now vape would make every minute of their representatives' lives hell on earth and the middle-aged among us that smoked too for 30 years, would back them up. Consider who in society has the most money and influence, they are not 25.
