Travel and Vaping Cruise ship passengers & ecigs!

Hi Tim, you are an inspiration! I have a ton of cruises coming up, in fact will be on a cruise every 4-6 weeks on average. I was only planning to smoke inside my cabin, on my balcony and in the allowed smoking areas. On RCI we arent allowed to smoke inside the cabins but even when we could I never did because I hated all of that smoke being trapped in my cabin so much, so always just went on our balcony. How did the passengers react? How about the crew? You did it EVERYWHERE except the MDR .. wow!

Some of the other passengers just looked at me as to say you cant do that in here. On the last two cruises 2 crew members stopped me and said that I could not smoke in that area but when I showed them what it was they just said cool go right ahead .Yes I did vape everywhere bur the main dinning room , I was just trying to be respectful in there.

Just got back in May, from aboard the Carnival Legend. Vaped everywhere, no questions asked. Everyone seemed to be pretty familiar with it, even people in the cruise critic forums, that I chatted with before embarkation

I only tried vaporsetc liquids for the first time earlier this week, and I do love them .. more than any others I have tried (except for his marlboro one which I did not like). So this week I ordered a LOT more juices from him .. he does have a deal that lasts until tomorrow night. On his liquids you can get 3 for the price of 2 .. you use a coupon code he has that is JUICEDEAL when you check out and it will calculate the 3-for-2 pricing. I do love his hazelnut mocha coffee juice and his pina colada and his peppermint. I get them at 24mg with the PG/VG .. because I want a decent throat hit so that's why I get mine with the PG based. And except for a tobacco flavor I always get the "flavor boost" ... adds more flavor to the taste and doesnt cost extra.

I have to admit, I'm half tempted to send Ross an email so he knows just how much business you're generating for him. In fact, I think I'll do that now.

As for flavors, I have the peppermint but haven't tried it yet. I'll do a fill once I get this posted so I can give a qualified review.

Have you tried the Vanilla Tobacco? Holy cow! That stuff is fantastic! I think it blows the Pina Colada out of the water and the Pina colada is probably my second favorite (and I don't tend to like the drink). I'd recommend you give that flavor a try.

Hi everybody, great to see so many familiar screen names in this thread. It was the CC thread that hipped me to vaping and this website which I just joined (aka "Philly Steve").

I received my GS starter kit last night and a new, healthier adventure begins. I can't wait to use my new E-Cigg on our Cinco de Mayo cruise aboard Enchantment. Another advantage: won't have to waste packing space on a carton of analog smokes!

I'm glad you like his flavors too! In the beginning I only bought hardware from him, no liquids. Last weekend I placed my first juice order, but was sure to order the PG/VG because I had already learned, from ordering from other suppliers, that VG doesnt give me any throat hit .. maybe others get TH but I sure dont. And I ordered all of them with the "flavor boost".

Got hazelnut mocha coffee, coconut and peppermint .. loved all of them so much that I placed another order yesterday, which he already shipped, so when they arrive on Monday I'll have the Pina Colada and the Orange for the first time, plus more of the hazelnut mocha.

His PG/VG percentages are 70pg/30vg, his flavor boost is pg, I get the 24mg .. so ordering that way is working out great for me.

Well, I have to admit that even though I'm on CC quite a bit, I do more lurking than posting and under a different pseudonym. I also have yet to take a Royal Caribbean cruise which is where I believe the CC post started. I just happened to be searching for info on the Serenade as we're looking at a spring cruise out of Puerto Rico and somehow the search pulled that up.

I'll attribute it to divine providence as I've been ready to quit analogs for some time but just couldn't work up the courage to go without the nicotine. Last time I used the patches but found that I was having entirely too vivid of dreams along with a really nasty skin allergy to the patch materials.

Seeing this and seeing the ease with which others were quitting analogs and moving over to these helped me make a pretty painless decision. So far, so good!

I would encourage you to give it more than one try. Vaping these is pretty different from smoking and it took me a few hours to get used to it.

My DH was skeptical too .. he never smoked so doesnt understand why this ecig gives me so much satisfaction (like my need for throat hit, vapor, SUCKING) LOL.

But after it had been 2 weeks with no analogs he said "maybe this is going to work for you". My response was "maybe? how about it has already worked and will continue to work forever". I loved my analogs, all 40+ years of them .. now I hate them and will never go back to them. Why would I? The ecig gives me complete satisfaction with none of the side affects .. love it.

The Serenade is a fantastic ship, one of our favorites! In fact we are booked on two back-2-back cruises on it in January 2012. 2 different caribbean intineraries, no repeat of ports, we're going the week of Jan 21 and Jan 28, 2012. And we love sailing in and out of SanJuan.

It is time for an update on my vaporous adventures!

I just had a long chat with Ross at "Vapors Etc." and now I understand what is going on.

Vapors Etc. is converting to "empty cartridges" for lack of a better phrase. I ordered a starter set with pre-filled cartridges but received a set with empty cartridges.

That is why I have been puffing away with no flavor or vapor!

Anyway Ross said "My Mistake" so he is taking good care of me and sending me a complementary sample pack of assorted juice flavors and one bottle of heavy duty tobacco juice.

This coming week is going to be hectic as I am having a new A/C unit installed and all new hurricane resistant windows installed so I am really looking forward to getting started with vaping.

Tomorrow morning my Brother and I are headed back out into the Cypress Swamps and Pine Hammocks as we continue our search for the "Old King's Road."

We're telling them about the ecigs on the Cruise Critic message board, where most of them have never heard about PV's, and then we give them the info on how to order their first ecig and how come to ECF so they can learn how to use them. Many of them who have recently joined ECF in the past few days are already posting on other threads here at ECF, good to see that cuz they are getting excellent advice from very experienced vapers. Yes more vapers on ECF now .. and more cruisers on ECF now too LOL.

Hey maybe we'll convert you to becoming a cruiser!!! Just think, vaping on the beautiful open seas, vaping in exotic ports of call, vaping as you are sipping a foo-foo drink.

Funny how stuff comes full circle.

Cruise Critic Forum was where I learned about e-cigs about 18 months ago.

I was getting ready for a cruise and browsing the CCF forum when I saw a thread on e-cigs.
I read up on it, ordered a 901, took the cruise, bought the 5-carton special for $90 and after I got home and smoked them all while my 901 was sitting here waiting to be used.

Those 5 cartons were the last analogs I ever smoked.

I got my starter kit (KR808d-1) yesterday, and already like it a lot. I read the entire instruction book. I was amused by the obvious attempts to translate into English.

I was still not vaping correctly, though, until reading your post about holding the battery button down 1 sec, then holding the vape in my mouth another sec or 2, then inhaling. Hmmm, that reminded me of my younger days, and how we used to smoke another type of "weed." So, I applied that long-forgotten tactic, and voila!

Thank you for your guidance and advice. You've certainly spawned a lot of converts, including me.

Now, I need to order more cartomizers before going off on my business trip to DC. I'll be in a non-smoking hotel there for a month, and was not looking forward to going out into the heat to have a smoke. Problem solved!

We simply MUST meet up on the ship during our November TA! I hope you will reconsider signing up for the M&M, even if it's just so we can quickly meet. I still think it would be fun to vape together there and freak out everybody! Otherwise, just name the time and location onboard, and I'll be there! I certainly want to shake your hand!

yoohoo Cynthia, glad to see you! Our thread got moved around a bit last night LOL, but I think we're OK now. And yes I for sure want to meet you in November on the cruise, and ugh, I might either join the M&M or at least come to wherever you guys are having your pre-sailaway party and we can vape together! However we are staying in Barcelona for 3 nights before the cruise, we're staying right at the intersection of La Rambla and Catalunya, at Hotel Continental, we love staying there, we were just there for 3 days in May. Are you staying nearby?

Drawing in and inhaling is so different with a PV than it was with an analog, glad you learned some of the tricks! My sister fell in love with vaping and never smoked an analog again, she said it reminded her of how she use to smoke "something else". Plus she loves the little hissing sound it makes LOL.

I have a big black eGo PV that I use at home, with big black mega cartos on it .. but in public I use my white KR808, which sometimes I also use at home because I like it so much, I'm using it right now!

You know that you can order liquid separately and refill the cartos, right? Even though the cartos are "disposable" dont throw them out, they can be used over and over again. You can refill them with your own liquid and reuse them over and over. Some people go quite a while without washing them out, I usually use a carto 5-6 times, then set it aside, once I have about 10 cartos that need to be cleaned I wash them out with hot water, I blow them out (thru the mouth opening), squish them in very hot water again for a while, blow the excess water out and let them dry for 24-48 hrs, then they'd good as new and you can do that over and over until the atomizer dies. I ordered some blank PURPLE cartos, they'll be here on Monday, I think they'll look killer on my white battery

I was looking for more cartomizers for my upcoming business trip (don't want to run out!), and only saw "blank" ones available to order. So, I had asked if should order juice only, and reuse my starter-kit cartos. I'm awaiting a reply.

Do I need to order any other equipment to refill my cartos?

Last April, I stayed at a hotel near on Catalunya Ave, very near the placa. I forget the name now, but it was nice. This was post-TA from Brazil. That was so fun! Now, in November, I'll be doing the westbound TA. I'll be staying two nights pre-cruise at Hotel Jazz this time. It's probably about a five-minute walk to your hotel. So, if you'd rather meet up pre-cruise, that would be great. I'll probably have more flexible time on that Friday. On Saturday, I plan to go up to Montserrat. Just let me know...

lol well I spent a few years (yes..years lol) travelling (and working) around the world as a backpacker back in my younger days so I do enjoy travelling - these days certainly I'd sure prefer the luxury on a cruise ship to bunking down in a Youth hostel or backpackers Inn on the road
