I just got my Cthulhu V2 today. I am very impressed. The machining on mine is very good. Both build decks are super easy to build. One thing I notice is that everyone seems to be not using the wicking ring....meanwhile that wicking ring is a god send. The point of the wicking ring is for you to never take it off. It should be on the deck before you wick with cotton. When you have your cotton through you coil, cut the cotton so its length reaches the bottom of the ring. Then stuff the cotton in the space created by the ring and what doesn't fit comfortably in that space leave it above the deck....its that simple. With
That's exactly how I have been building/wicking and never a leak or problem except that I stuffed a bit too much cotton in the slot on the first build and wicking was restricted. I found that "packing" the cotton in the slot is too restrictive. "Just a little bit'll do ya".

Re: single coil flavor with the Cthulhu V2

I have been using a large diameter (4mm) titanium coil with rayon wick and the large volume of wicking material in the chamber seems to act to reduce the effective chamber volume giving great flavor. No complaints on that front with this setup.

Then stuff the cotton in the space created by the ring and what doesn't fit comfortably in that space leave it above the deck....its that simple. The wicking ring takes all the guessing out of how much cotton to stuff in the channels. The first time I wicked, I did it without the wicking ring, the threads seemed very crunchy. That is because I was using too much cotton in the channels. But with using the method I described above, the threads are actually buttery smooth. I also have refilled 5 times today and I never had a leak with the juice flow all the way open. Also remember that the juice flow channel works in the same direction as the airflow channel....that will help you remember which way to turn to open and close the juice flow. I keep mine all the way open since as I said before you can top fill this thing without it leaking,

Both as single or dual coil atty it is as good as any I have tried. However it is easier to build on than any other RTA I have used. The only negatives for me is that it is a very tall atty and that it has a lot of exposed glass (I am a klutz and drop my atties regularly).

on the single coil deck you will have a really hard time increasing air flow as the holes are at a 45 angle to the central airflow hole.....

I think the idea was that single coil option would be for a mtl or restricted DLI where as the dual coils would be for a more open DLI....

Realistically however the chamber is to large for Great MTL imo Anyway get some dual coils in! thats where the Cthulhu v2 shines, Single coil is a nice option but defiantly not the best option on this atty imo
True, I took it apart and it would be difficult indeed and there's really no room to work with to expand the air holes. It already has airflow control so it's disappointing they chose to design it that way - especially for those like me who like single coil setups with better-than-average airflow. In comparison, my Subtank Mini has better airflow.

On that note, I've put the single coil deck away permanently and installed the dual coil deck yesterday with a twisted Ti build. The difference is like night and day. It's putting out some seriously thick vapor and major flavor. This tank is a beast with this deck, and the airflow is fantastic.

Ouch, that is disappointing for the single coil deck.

I recon the easiest way to massively improve Air flow on the single deck would be to get a Kayfun 4 spring, a kf4 insulator with the square nut as well as a screw that will fit the 510 and the square nut. This would allow air through where the 510 screw would usually screw in and offer the possibly of boring out the central hole so its larger off course you would get a small ohm shift and you would need to find an appropriate screw to replace the 510. doubt it would be to hard to get those parts

Good thread here... Lot's of good info. :) I've been enjoying the original Cthulhu for awhile, and other than occasionally needing to give the airflow openings a quick tap on a vapor towel to clear a small amount of e-liquid on refills, it's been a very decent tank for me. :)

I was happy to find that the v2 includes a single coil deck, and threw an order in right before the 2nd batch came in from Smog.. It's out for delivery today. ;) Should be great for my simple, single coil, Ni200 builds.

Pretty much the same here with v1, and my v2 is out for delivery today, too....
The two decks is what got me, I think....

Edit: tracking says its in my mailbox.... Now just gotta wait 2 more hours....

I got mine from Smog today and gave it a bath and build. I threw 26ga 3mm spaced coil in it 1 ohm. Single coil deck with the coil about 1mm off the deck. I wicked it with the OC, juiced it up stopping the wick at the first indent in the juice channel and threw on the ring and the balance of the OC right on the deck.

Installed the tank, closed the juice flow control and AFC filled it about 90% full and tossed on the drip tip. Flipped it upside down, opened the juice flow a couple turns (50% counting the turns) flip it right side up and opened the AFC. I've been vaping it for about an hour and so far it's pretty damn nice. A ton of vapor and the flavor is outstanding.

Here's a hand check. I have the AFC closed pretty far because for me any more then that and it's to damn airy. And I threw it on an old IPV just in case it starting leaking since a bunch of folks had some challenges.

I was a little worried after reading this thread but it seems to be holding up. I still have to play with the Velocity deck.

The single coil deck is almost exactly like the Kanger Subtank on steroids. Same setup just bigger and they used the top fill similar to the K4. They just took all the bits and pieces that worked and built a tank around it. From what I can see the deck design and juice control may be theirs :) The deck is little wobbly on mine when I slide the juice control off but solid once I get it back onto the deck.
