Man, this thing is really picky with regards to wicking. A tiny bit too much = dry hit city, no flavor. A tiny bit too little wick = leaking through the air holes all over your mod but great taste.
Someday I will be on that little thin, very fine line of perfect wicking. I hope.
For me, reducing airflow fixes my dry hits.... I've gotten to the point I can taste when a dry hit is next, at least on the single deck anyways.... I'd imagine it'd be a bit difficult on the dual coils.... I'm sure I've been using too much cotton lately and that's why I'm not getting leaks.... My thoughts, I can put it down when I'm driving or not use it as much to prevent dry hits, but I can't fix a leak due to lack of wick while driving, and since I do most of my vaping in the car...

In my case, I run my airflow so tight most of the time that every so often I need to open my airflow up all the way and jack up the wattage and hit it a couple of times just to clear it out and keep it from starting to flood. In fact, I have found the Cthulhu V2 completely closed off is barely passable for my usages, but it does work out and I like it. We seem to have unique problems from one another and might take different wicking solutions to solve. Very Interesting, you're post. Thanks.

BTW, this is all with Kanthal and the Single Coil Deck for me, I don't do Ni200 or Stainless yet, I'm not that sophisticated I guess.

SS16 is really worth a try imo its the best of both worlds works in TC and watts medium resistance and really is as safe as it possible can be wire wise! give great flavour as well, I would describe it as crisper (vs Kanthal rich or Ni200 light) yet to try Ti G1

Just did my first SS16 build its alright however i think my wire is a tad thin (28g) to shine in the cthulhu might try twisting it... (FTR SS16 is really surprisingly soft its more like Ni200 than Kanthal which really surprised me)
On my second Cthulhu the Wicking ring is now stuck meaning I have to stuff the cotton in I stuffed tons in this time to stop the refiling leaks it worked well but started getting dry hits at only 30W which is where i like to vape my ) 0.5ohm setup!

I think I might try a slightly different wicking method next time.... That said just got some 30/70 PG/VG juice so my leaking might be solved and i hopeful might be able to return to my leaky technique lol

I use 30/70 PG/VG and mine still leaks if it sits for a while. I never get dry hits but almost every time I check I have juice on the top of my mod and on the bottom of the tank. I've tried closing the juice flow a little but when I do I end up with dry hits after several hits. I guess I'll just have to live with it.

Dame thats a bad leak, my Cthulhu's leak 2-4 drops when filling its and thats all..... it's really nothing bad it just ends up covering everything in a thin layer of ejuice as it gets on my hands..... I see tons of people on youtube that seem to not mind a life with a thin layer of ejuice on everything but i cant help my self keeping those attys and mods cleanish lol maybe i'm developing an OCD :) now all i need to do is make that OCD spread to the rest of the house ;)

Got my v2 today, first build dual 26/32 claptons in a 6/7 wrap dual coil. .51 @33.5 watts and already through 6-7 ml in a few hours. I love this thing. The juice ring is a little funky and the airflow is stupid loose but both those things are pretty easily to ignore for the price and flavor I am getting.

DeadKaiser, Thayamax: Unless ya'll got one of the famous "China QC Specials" that I see people complaining about from time to time, then it has to be wicking, it just has to be. I know that with mine for some unknown reason, I went away from closing off the juice flow control ring during Re-Filling and I got leaking sometimes (just 1 drop looks like a flood on this thing), but as soon as I started to close off that control ring again (along with the airflow control) then the leaking stopped. Just keep working on it and things will come together for you. I have found that my coils can look pretty nasty sometimes but they will work good enough, but if the wicking is not right in some respect then it will either Dry Hit or Leak. Learning to wick my Lemo's was trail and error for several months for me, and this Cthulhu is even different yet. I don't think that this is a Starter Type RTA for someone fairly new to these types of devices. Even with months of experience on my Lemo's I am still experimenting with the wicking on this trying to get it nailed down perfect. As Red Green would say " I'm pull'in for ya, We're all in this together".

Edit: I use 3mm coils and a 7-8mm wide strip of KGD, and vape from 15-25 watts and airflow from Tight to Wide Open on the Single coil deck ONLY.

Vaping 85+ vg I've found cutting most of the wicks flush with the deck and leaving just a few strands to stuff down the channels helps to break the surface tension of the juice. It's really working out for me so far. About 4 tanks in. Going from cutting all the wicks flush to the deck to this way has allowed me to go from 48-50 to 55-60 watts with that thick juice.

I know you all don't vape at those wattages but it may help to get yours running better for those of you having issues with wicking. Perhaps thursday when I get back to work I'll snap a shot of it. I live in a dark cave and I am far from ocd (lol deadkaiser) so I won't be taking pictures from home.

Can anyone comment on how the Cthulhu v2 compares to the Goliath v2, the bellus rta by you're, or the goblin mini? I'd really appreciate any informed info based on owning or using these devices, thanks = ]

I can't help you, Sorry. Maybe some of the others can though.

I've had the Goliath v2 and the Goblin mini, and while I really like my Goblin mini, I can't think of an area outside of machining that the Cthulhu V2 isn't a clear cut better than them in. And with top fill (despite not being a "great" method) and the velocity style deck, ease of use is also a big difference.

I'm just a weird person I guess, but I still bottom fill most of these tanks, including the Cthv2. That way I can wick for performance rather than refill. I'm sure there's a happy medium there somewhere, but patience ain't my strong suit. I just find that being on the go for most of the day, I don't want major leak to occur in downtown traffic.

Really, the only tank I top fill is the TF4 dual coil rba...I must have found that happy medium with that one cuz the single coil still flows out like a river...so it's on the shelf.
The only tank I always top filled were my Kayfun Lite v2's...and they weren't made for it...thus the "weird" reference.
