NeHe, may I suggest you NOT mention ANY Canadian suppliers whatever you do. We here in Canada want our suppliers still up and running!!

I have to tell you guys, I'm extremely ...... off... I've gotten two letters from Health Canada so far, and each one is worse than the last. This last one states that I have to contact them in writing by the 7th to explain who I've sold items to, who I've ordered from, etc... otherwise search a seizure will take place.

I'm a bloody consumer... not a reseller... jesus christ!

And you try to get through to them, and it's near impossible!

My second package has cleared customs :) just wondering do I have to pay any duties or taxes when the packages arrive.
I ordered 3 times from Intellicig, my first one was opened by customs and I had to pay duties and taxes on that one, but it was a $140.00 CAD order. My other orders were listed as under $40.00 and they came through no problem.

Being charged duties and taxes will probably depend on what the shipper listed on the customs declaration form/sticker.

Received my order from Intellicig (approx $100.00 CAD). Put in the mail on Apr 23rd and I picked up at the post office on May 1st. No duties involved.

Wing Comm is right. It all comes down to how the paperwork is filled out. They're not outright lying but many have gotten creative in their descriptions.

d-be thanks for your vote of confidence... I have no plans to talk about anything with them. I think basically what they are saying is they want to know who I've sold to, etc... they must think I am a reseller.

To answer the question about order size. I ordered 32 bottles of liquid BEFORE the ban was announced here... the plan was to have enough juice to last me the year if there was a ban. I think I lucked out and got picked as target #1. 25 days after waiting for my tracking status to update to "released from customs", I got a letter. Letter was nice, just said to contact them. As I wrote before, I did call and they seemed really NICE about it. I actually got the impression that if the person I was talking to was able to, she would have released the order. However she has a job to do.

My luck probably ended when customs (randomly?) got a second package of batteries, ecigs, etc. Not a bulk order, just a few models (103, 901, 801, batteries, blank carts, etc)... 50 carts looks like a lot of stuff I guess if you have no idea what they are.

After stopping that package too, I got this second letter. I guess they saw juice, carts, ecigs and assumed I'm the guy they want.

As far as the letter goes... I will attempt to scan it, just have to read it over again to make sure there's nothing on it saying it can't be reproduced or displayed (you know the govt).

I will quote the section everyone seems to be interested in.

At this time, the Health Products and Food Inspectorate (inspectorate) is requesting the following information:
1. Written confirmation that your establishment has ceased importing, distributing and selling electronic smoking products;
2. Written confirmation that you have initiated a recall of all electronic smoking products that your establishment has distributed or sold; and
3. A list of all establishments to which you have distributed electronic smoking products, including a copy of the recall letter sent to these establishments.

Your Written response is requested by May 7, 2009. Your response must be submitted to the Health Products and Food Inspectorate Operational Centre in your region.

Failure to cooperate with these requests will result in more stringent enforcement measures, such as seizures, in accordance with POL-0001: Compliance and Enforcement Policy. The Compliance and Enforcement Policy can be found at the following Health Canada Website:

......

Is it just me or is Canada trying to beat the US in regards to enslaving and controlling the public?

I used to be proud to say Canada is nothing like these other places... can't say that any more.

This is a "Boston Tea Party" situation. Every e-cig vaper in Canada must decide here and now not to accept a prohibition that would mean the needless death of countless smokers deprived of access to e-cigs.

I am not a dealer. I am not even a Canadian. But heed my words. You have a duty to engage in civil disobedience. The tobacco companies cannot be allowed this travesty in which they buy off the government to prevent smokers from having access to e-cigs. YOU MUST FIGHT FOR YOUR LIBERTY!

DEFY UNJUST AUTHORITY! Bury your politicians and health agencies with your demands that the prohibition be lifted. Educate every smoker you meet and enlist them in the fight.

If you don't act, then Canada will end up like Australia, where PVs are illegal to even possess!

This is not a joke. This is not a fire drill. You are fighting for people's lives (probably including your own) and liberty.

DEFY UNJUST AUTHORITY! FIGHT FOR YOUR LIBERTY!

So I spoke with Health Canada again today... mainly because it's the 6th, and I wanted to find out if there was any way to obtain confirmation that my letter was indeed received. I sent an email to the email address supplied on the letter and to the email address at the top of the link I sent above. I did not receive any confirmation that the letter was read (which I find ignorant).

This is what I was told (in short).

- You will not receive confirmation, but no news is good news.
- If I sent to both addresses, they will have received my letter.
- There is no system in place to show I have already talked about this issue.
- All blocks at customs are handled individually, by customs/health canada but a file is kept at health canada on how many letters have gone out, individuals, etc.
- Right now they are trying to "educate the public"
- The second letter is what is sent out on each order stopped after the initial "nicer" letter. If you have a third order held, you get a second letter again.
- Once you have had a package held (from anyone), you are put onto a list. Which explains why none of my orders from known ecig sellers get to me. (instantly to customs).
- Basically calling the number will do nothing for you. They will ramble off a premade message about health, tell you there is not much they can do, listen, and that's about it.

When I asked: "what is the status of this product, will it be approved, etc"
- I was told no supplier has sent in products to study... if a Chinese supplier is willing to submit a product, they would be more than happy to look at it.
- The amount of time it takes to study the product is just one month from the time it has been received, but the amount of time to come to a decision is unknown.

When I asked how the nicotrol inhaler can be sold over the counter, with nicotine cartridges, working in a similar manner to an e-cig minus the vapour, they did not have an answer for me... and pretended to write something down after asking "what was the name of that device".
- I commented that it's easy to obtain, makes me dizzy if smoked too much, has just as much of a nicotine hit, the cartridge is much larger than an e-cig, and it's marketed as a stop smoking device. I then added that it does NOT work... no comment.

When I asked why the case for it is not classified as a drug delivery system, I again received no comment.

When I stated that both my parents passed away from smoking and I did not want to die the same way... going into details about how much better I feel, I was told "We hear this hundreds of times a day, every day".

Sorry nothing more to comment on... and nothing really to help our cause... but figured I'd let you all know.
