Hi. Thanks for the info. I actually ordered this (510 Dual coil Mega Cartomizer LR 1.5 Ohm - Stainless, 5 Pack (CARTO-Mega-DC-Stainless) today. Any idea where I can get a good deal on an eGo battery???? (Why not the eGo-T?). Also, how long do the cartos last? Next question, could I have somehow killed my atty in 1/2 a day by vaping too many times at once???
Hi kakg2x!
Welcome to the ECF forums and also to the wide world of vaping!
You will probably get pretty good performance out of those cartos - I've been using SmokTech "EMDCC"'s for about 6 weeks now. 1.5 ohms is a pretty good match for the voltage/power of a typical eGo-type battery.
Your eGo-T battery will probably work fine with these cartos - the eGo battery connector's "inside" threads are 510, so pretty much any 510 device should thread right down onto it. (and if you have the urge to "accessorize", they make "shorty cones" you can get that just cover up the "outer" threads that are pretty cheap too).
If you will be buying more eGo batteries, I'd say get the biggest eGo type battery you are pretty sure you will be comfortable with carrying around - and also for the extended battery life. Just make sure you read reviews on brands. I've seen a lot of good things said here on the forums about kGo brand 1100mAh units they sell at hoosierecigsupply, though I haven't tried them myself. eGo type batts as small as 650 mAh can be found -- these are between 2.5-3" long, and easier to tuck into your pocket, etc.
Another thing you may want to consider, if you're on the market for 1-2 eGo batteries, is a USB passthrough eGo type battery. This is a special type that has a USB port on the bottom hidden under a screw-off cap. When you're at your PC or anywhere else (car?) that has a USB power feed, you can plug up and use the USB to power your vaping, and it also charges the battery. When you need to "go", you can unplug from the USB cord, screw the cap back on, and you are untethered. I've seen JoyeTech brand 1000mAh USB pass-throughs around $20 - though I can't speak for how well the battery cells last in them - you'd have to check reviews. I'd imagine they're probably pretty good though.
Just a few ideas. heh, like you needed anymore huh? We've sort of bombarded you haven't we.
The cartos tend to hold up pretty good. Pay attention to everything your cousin tells you about properly filling them. The most important thing about cartomizers is
they need to stay wet. This is especially true on lower resistance ones, because the coils can overheat and burn the filler material quickly. Once you get a burnt taste in the carto you may or may not ever get rid of it.
I have had EMDCC's that are still going after 6 weeks of off-and-on (not constant) use. I am pretty sure I've cleaned out all of them once now. I'm still experimenting with flavors, or in some cases, vaping up what is left of "those other flavors" so they don't go to waste. So I've flushed out any cartos before putting a different flavor of liquid in them. Anywho, the main thing with cartos like these is to try to keep them wet so the coils don't burn the filler. Most people seem to get anywhere from 1-2 weeks out of these, others more, and of course it depends on the hardware you're using. Eventually the carto will (apparently) drop off in performance, and at that point most folks just toss them. And you may get a "dud" from time to time, or so it is said. I haven't seen one yet but I haven't been through near as many as I'm sure a lot of the veterans here have.
I don't have any personal experience with atomizers yet so I'll defer to the folks who do have experience with them on the atomizer question.
Best of luck and again, welcome!
