It took me awhile to give up stinkys.
I got my first ego setup on mothers day May 2013. A present from my son.
I didnt smoke my last stinky until the end of July 2013.

Keep up the good work! I think you need to give yourself a little more time. I think you should stick with it you are doing good so far!

I still chain vape and move from 18mg when I am at work to 12mg when I am home. I am not concerned about nicotine strength as long as I feel ok. I did have some sort of withdrawal for a week after I stopped smoking and as I was tapering off smoking.

It might happen to you like it did me. I tapered off until I quit. I lit my last one and took a puff tasted terrible! I haven't smoked since last July.

Good luck! Great suggestions here!

In all my years as a smoker, my worst fear was running out of cigarettes. After vaping for a few months I noticed that I wasn't inclined to stop on the way home to pick up a couple extra packs. Eventually I cut down to 2 - 3 cigarettes a day but just couldn't give those up for a couple of months. I always had to have a cigarette with a cup of hot, fresh coffee first thing every morning. Then I forgot to stop and get a pack on my way home one day and I only had a couple of cigarettes left. I smoked one that evening and the other one the next morning. Then I kept "forgetting" to stop for more cigs.
So I guess I had to get into the "habit" of NOT buying cigarettes before I could get over that fear of not having any around.

Hope you figure out what works for you.

Step 1: You need to figure out what it is that smoking cigs is giving you that you are missing from your vape.

Step 2: Set a date that you HAVE to stick to where you no longer smoke and will only vape. Just like quitting anything, the first few days may be a lil tricky but once your body starts to forget what smoking was like everything will be great. I tried smoking a cig a month or so ago and couldn't stand the damn thing. was horrible tasting, didn't give me the throat hit my vape does and i felt suffocated.

Hope that helps.

To be honest, I don't know how you do it. I loved my pack a day menthols but after only a few days of vaping, they started tasting incredibly vile, to the point where I just gave my small collection away to my mother. Loads of great suggestions in this thread though, I hope you eventually become cigarette free!

This is going to sound cliche, but if you want to quit smoking you have to want to quit smoking. As long as you have analogs on you, you are going to smoke them.

You want to quit? Don't buy anymore analogs, throw away your lighters/matches, and just vape. Eventually, and in a shorter amount of time than you'd expect, analogs will begin to taste repulsive.

This just about sums it up. Stop indulging yourself and cross that hurdle. Takes about 3 days to a week.

Well I was at a pack a day im now down to about 5 to 7 cigarettes a day. Ive been that way for about 3 months now. Vaping just doesnt quite take away all my ccravings it helps alot when I'm at work but it's out doing other things. That's when I get the cravings.

Michael, you're doing GREAT! You've reduced your cigarette intake by 66-75% THAT'S AWESOME. I can't remember everything I've read up until here, but what level nic? Sometimes people suggest upping it slightly. I also hear that "3 days; 3 weeks; 3 months" are typically tougher times for people.

Don't beat yourself up - be proud of what you've accomplished. Next time, instead of lighting one of those 5-7/day up, pick up your vape and take a walk or do something to distract yourself.

You'll get there!

I haven't smoked a stinky not even a drag of one since the day I bought my PVD and I was smoking 2.5 to 3 pad. I would stop at the same store every morning to buy them and a cup of coffee. The cashier would have them waiting for me on the counter. The hardest thing I had to do was walk out that first morning without them. It was another habit I had to break. I pass by that store every morning on my way to the store down the street. They say old habits are hard to break. They darn sure are! That was over 7 months ago and I think I've about broken them all.

Give WTA a try. Aroma I believe is the company name but it def helps with that craving in my experience at least.

Another one is whole cig. WTA e-Liquid

Look for the 30ml bottle. You can add it to your liquid like I am doing or I hear you can also use a dripper & vape it straight.
I'm not sure what the mix ratio is & I just got some to experiment with.

In the same boat as you. I believe my stress level that's out of control makes it too hard to quit although I have cut down too.
Need good reliable equip. What are you using?

Welcome to ECF & good luck to both of us.

It really is a great accomplishment to cut your cigarette consumption down so much!

However...(yeah, there is a however, lol) like some of the other posters have mentioned, if you really want to ditch the smokes, you will probably have to just put them down at some point and suck it up for a little while. E-cigs are a miracle for me, but they're not exactly magic, in that they don't replace exactly every single thing a person gets from smoking a cigarette. As close as we can get, though.

I know some people have said they started using e-cigs and quit accidently. That's great, and I'm sure it happens frequently, but I really don't think it would have worked that way for me. When I bought my eGo kit last year, the people in the shop recommended not to dual use for the best benefit. I walked out of there with my kit, smoked the last cigarette I owned and never looked back.

Yes, I've had my moments. I already had Nicorette gum specifically for those occasions. Sometimes I still had moments. I even bought some Red Man Golden Blend chewing tobacco for harder moments. (And yes, I am female, an old one...) Just a tiny pinch for an hour or so really helped, anything to get past those times. I've not used much of the gum and only used the Red Man 3-4 times in the first 6 months or so. I was determined that whatever it took, I was done with smoking.

Next Wednesday, July 2nd, I will be smoke-free for one whole year (drum roll and applause here!), after 45+ years, at ~2 packs a day. Now I can't remember the last time I had a nostalgic moment about smoking. It stinks!!!! There are many people on this board and elsewhere like me, people who smoked almost all their lives. If we can do it, YOU CAN DO IT. But you may have to go through a bump once in a while. They're not bad bumps, just temporary. The longer you go, the easier it is. Really! Very best wishes to you!

Congrats for cutting way down! Those 6 stragglies are a pain. A tip that helped me through those clingers? Count the cigarettes you haven't smoked, not the ones you did, and add one more to the not smoked list when you're ready for the challenge. Before you know it, you'll be down to just one or two really hard ones. My hardest one was the one before bed. I couldn't handle the thought of going 8 hours without a cigarette ... so, I just stayed up all night vaping a can't put down flavor lol. After realizing I could go 24 hours without a smoke, I never needed that one again.
In short, count the ones you haven't smoked and add one more to that count when YOU are ready to do so. Best of luck to you!

I quit in 4 days. The last 2 of those 4 days, I only had 1 cig a day. I was a pack a day, 21 year smoker. Believe me, you got this!

I agree wholeheartedly. I work as a respite care provider, and working with the kid makes me crave a real cigarette horribly. But, the mom doesn't pay me well (balances out to two dollars an hour) so I can't afford to buy real ones AND my juices and stuff also. I was bumming cigarettes from my girlfriend when I was with her but she has since quit, and I find that the craving is pretty much gone now.

i agree with just about every thing folks on here are saying im not a 40 year smoker only 12 years but i was hard core about it up to 2 packs untill i found the roll ups then it was 3 to 4 packs cause i could afford it i tryed before to quit cold turkey and i failed it was every thing i could do no to pull my hair out. i thought about smoking talked about it i even dreamed about it and stress was my excuse to go back to analogs as they say here but 3 weeks ago i bought my coolfire 2 and have never looked back for me though it was the flavor and Pg/Vg ratio i preferred the throat hit to the cloud (i dont do lung hits and i feel like letting out clouds around other people is kinda rude just my opinion) and heavy flavors like caramel and cinnomon it was what worked for me i still have the urge like the others have said but i pick up my grenade and hit it till it goes away usually in a few deep hits with my 12mg mixes. so again try different mixes and flavors till you find one that works for you. untill then stay strong and keep up the good work
