Annoying! The correct response is to have a small card or paper with CASAA information on it to give to the person and educate them better.

However (anyone remember the brilliant Dave Chapelle shows?) I have a temper and a fiery need in "Keepin' It Real" so my response would probably be,

At least I'm blowing it out my nose and not my ....

OK...OK... I know...

At the vape friendly bar, puffing on my eRoll. I get pulled aside by someone I shared vape info with only to be told how dangerous vaping is and how I should just smoke because vaping is dangerous. He was so intense and upset and told me to dig deeper. I'm seriously so upset and blown away.

I've had a smoker with a cigarette hanging out his mouth telling me how dangerous it is because "we don't know what ingredients an ecig has"

i simply replied, "yes, correct, we know exactly whats in the cigarette handing out your mouth and that its 100% cancer guaranteed"

always remember, people are sheep, they will listen to anyone and simply regurgitate that info without checking it out themselves.. of course all the anti-ecig news that come out from big pharma, don't help the situation either...

"I read it on the internet", "the government said", and "I heard it from a guy in a bar" should be added to the world's greatest lies.

Let's add "I read it in the NYT"

My mom was up visiting a few weeks ago, and she tells me this: "Be careful. eLiquid is the new #1 cause of accidental poisoning"
:(

I asked her where she got that idea... she said "I read it in the newspaper". Was the local paper re-running that one piece from the NYT a while back. I asked her if it had actually said that, and she said, "I don't know, actually. That was just what I got from it."
:glare:

She's a nurse, and she knows better too. It was just what it seemed to be saying even though she knew on reflection it never actually said that.

a while back I was vaping outside a mall... still had stinkies on hand at that point... and this guy asked me to bum one (he though I was smoking).

I gave him one, and we started talking. Turns out he'd been trying to quit for months, and in fact was wearing a nicotine patch then and there, but of course still wanted to smoke. I told him he should try ecigs. His response: "I heard that the companies started putting bad stuff in ecigs cause they're getting bigger now." I responded that I was vaping 100% organic juice from Virgin Vaper, and that in fact you could even make your own. He was like, "nah, no thanks, those are dangerous." And then walked away smoking a cigarette with a nicotine patch on his arm.

A deer a cow and a horse eats the same (grass) but despite this the deers droppings are pellets, the cows are paddies and the horses are piles, why is this?
if you dont know ..... how are you qualified to educate me on the dangers of vaping?

A good reply for those situations

The couple times I got that response to my vaping I said, "where did you find that information, from a headline on the internet?" and both times the respondent sheepishly remarked "yes" and I educated them a little.

Major news organizations like NBC and MSNBC have provided several major stories on how dangerous vaping is. It appears all of the major news organizations, except for one, see the wisdom in banning vaping. I don't think we can fault the general public too much for seeing vaping as being the same as smoking. Many vapers provide the public with that belief by only vaping with smokers.

I've only encountered good things with vaping, I could not believe the nerve of this guy an he is a someone's on top of it of it. My boyfriend later pointed out that the guy was a just trying to talk to me as I argued half buzzed about how,I know where my juice comes from and blah, blah, blah. It's very frustrating for a newbie who is still struggling with smoking to take heat for vaping.

The ignorance some people have to vaping is incredible. I find that most people that are "against" vaping are also uneducated on the subject. You just have to shrug those kind of negative people off
These are the same people that will vote against us in electronic cigarette matters.
Or at the very least not vote with us or to help us.

I would never shrug them off.

If someone comes up to me telling me about how dangerous vaping is, they going to get some serious edumacation...
Not only about the relative safety of vaping, but about distrusting the media, and the powers that want to take my electronic cigarette away.

You should not let it bother you at all:) You did not switch to vaping for another person.. You did it for yourself. So do not worry about what other people think :)
Obviously the person smokes.. They are just trying to justify their bad choice and lack of will to switch.

I live a few miles from the offices where those we've elected to run this country occasionally stop in to harass their interns in between three-martini lunches and gratis first-class trips, all paid for by very large, very rich lobbying firms on behalf of even larger, even richer industrial concerns. Seeing what we as a nation continue to elect as our 'representation,' I have given up on the whole 'use science and verifiable facts in your argument' tack. It's a fool's errand. We just need better buzz-phrases, cooler celebrities endorsing our cause, and a metric [MODERATED]TON of money to throw at the greedy pigs we naively assume work for US.

ahahah, this topic has been beaten into the ground by this point, hasnt it? nobody should hold frustration or anger toward people like that. you cant change anybodys mind. its human nature.
Maybe we shouldnt be mad at the dumb person, but we should be furious at the disingenuous, lie factories we call 'the media'. These networks are cowing to big tobacco and being flagrantly dishonest to the american people. From cable stations all the way down to local news channels, they are LYING TO EVERYONE.
This is the biggest blow to vapers everywhere. When the usual 'saw it on the news so it gots to be tru' person sees that vaping is more dangerous than cigarettes, they believe it. When people believe bullcrap, they allow restrictions to pass. After restrictions pass, the only people in control of vape products will be big tobacco.
Just imagine when the tobacco companies start chemically modifying our liquid to keep us hooked. Its been done for years with cigarettes, why would they stop there?

I'm still pretty new to vaping. As an industry it is still very young and it will probably be some time before anyone knows what the long term side effects are.

As many have already mentioned, the obviousness of the tobacco lobby and the government in the 'news' media with decreasing revenues from cigarettes should be apparent to anyone.

That said I just tell anyone that this isn't 100% healthy or safe, but the benefits over smoking are too numerous to mention. I have senses of taste and smell back, I don't get winded walking a flight of stairs or have that wheeze in my chest at night when I sleep anymore. My clothes don't stink and nobody minds the smell when I vape.

I don't really care what they think...I'm going to keep vaping until they ban it or it costs more than smoking (I fear the later is the most likely once they slap a sin tax on e-juice). Bottom line is I'm not smoking. Cold turkey is the only other thing that ever worked and I didn't want to give up the sensation of smoking. That's something that only vaping can give me and I've actually grown to like the taste and sensation of vaping more than smoking since I've found some really good juices.

I'm a little shocked by the people that believe the propaganda. I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist, but if people think the anti vaping campaign is anything more than tobacco companies scrambling for business, then you are delusional. And their will be government funded research to prove vaping is harmful. If you go into a research/study with an end result already formulated, you are going to get that end result because you will back into the answer to make yourself out to be right. It is frustrating though that their campaign is working. Someone said to me last week, geesh you have a new one of those "things" every week. Now you're addicted to that and the nicotine. So I said but I'm not smoking cigarettes. They kept going, so I repeated myself about three more times. Finally they got the point and said ok, I guess anything is better than cigarettes. Geesh, that was my point at the beginning.
