I quit cigs in 24 hrs. (40 years, 3 pack a day)
I started at 24 mg and for the first week my goal was to wear the button off the battery. I failed the button is still there but I quit!
Make sure you have a tobacco flavor to replace your cigs, you will need it for after a meal, in the morning, etc. after vaping a food flavor your brain still wants a cig.
Make vaping a hobby, by smoking you void your hobby (the money was wasted)
Wanna get a mech or something w/ more power
I would recommend a brass Caravela mod over a Nemesis, I own both and the Caravela is much smoother.

I hope any part of this can help, good luck.

I didn't want to quit analogs when I started vaping. Inadvertently, I tapered down over ~3 weeks until I realized I walked around for a full week with an open pack of stink sticks in my pocket without so much as an urge to light one. I enjoy a cigar from time to time, still, but that's different.

I used to smoke a pack - pack and half cigarettes a day. I didnt know how the nicotine strengths in juices would affect me so I started with 6mg.

Unintentionally, I quit smoking cigarettes within 2 days of starting my vape journey. Never felt the need to raise nicotine lvls and now I am using 3mg with hopes of 0mg in a few months.
My setup at the time was a mech mod and RDA.

I switched from hookah, so it might be a bit different, but...

When I first got a starter kit (cheap ego battery with a CE5 tank), I was using my hookah when I was at home and my vape when I was out somewhere. When I upgraded to an MVP 2.0 and a Protank, I started using just the vape since it was just a 'lil worse quality but so much more convenient. Loaded up a few bowls in my hookah since when friends were over and pretty much just get it going then let them have it... Can't stand hookah anymore :p The quality I get from a sub-ohm dripper or fogger v4 just blows my hookah out of the water.

I've quit before. Several times, several ways and each time it was different. This is my second time around with vaping and it's by FAR been the easiest, although not the least expensive. My mind wasn't in the right place before and yes, it takes a good amount of will power.

Everyone is different, as you can see. For me, when I started vaping again, I still smoked a couple times a day for a month or so. Then one day, I just stopped. But I kept a pack and a half of smokes in my car. It seemed to take pressure off and to this day, they are still there but I've never touched them.

I've changed my gear quite a few times already and will hang on to my vv v3's until they die but my device at home is a Reo. It's made a big difference for me. Somewhere I read that a craving only lasts 3 minutes. I remind myself of that when one hits but they are fewer these days and seem to only hit me at work during really stressful times.

Good luck! You can do it!!! And Myah, your mom would be very proud. :)

Can't just assume switching will be it.
Some will power and self control will be required, but NOTHING like trying to go cold Turkey.

I Smoked 1.5-2PAD for over 45 years. Yes switching had some stressing ups and downs but no I did not dual use.
I actually started off at 18mg and the toughest part was the crappy system that just was not delivering well.
A few upgrades later I was on Ego/T2's and 12mg...........Beat the heck out of smoking.

Mind Set
I am an ex-smoker
I have a Nicotine need
I need nicotine, not cigarettes

Even my frickin frackin pain in the .... youngest son cannot drive me back :D

*oh, now I'm down to 3mg :toast:

I have a somewhat similar story. I decided in March that I was going to stop the analogues. I smoked everyone I had, sorry I couldn't waste them. Then I got a ego setup and some tobacco juice. Then I was able to stop. I am still on 18mg and figure that isn't going to change anytime soon but I breath better and I started working out again. Even that I am doing differently. I used to weigh myself every week and get discouraged then I heard someone say stay off the scale it'll just make you crazy so I don't. I go with the fact I feel better, my knees don't hurt and I sleep very well. Each person is different so don't think you're doing anything but going on your own journey.

I quit analogs without thinking about it. I tried vaping and have not even wanted an analog since. I had been smoking a pack a day for 40 years, had tried to quit before with gums, patches, etc...
This time around there was no intention to quit, no intention to even diminish my tobacco consumption. It is just that vaping gave me all that I liked when smoking, so the switch was immediate and painless. I started at 12mg nicotine and I may stay at that level as I have no problems with staying addicted to nicotine. I may try in a month to go down to 9mg just to see if it feels alright but if I start vaping more to compensate for the reduced dosage, what is the point?

My final FYI... after about a month-month and a half without tobacco I started feeling short of breath, best described as though someone had a belt around my chest. I wouldn't tell you not to see a doc (disclaimer LOL) but for me, I was as the doc said "feeling the damage years of smoking had done". From what he said, tobacco paralyzes your lungs so you don't feel the damage your causing. The good news, it goes away.... this is the sign your lungs are beginning to heal(at least was for me). On a plus side....My doc if now promoting e-cigs to smokers as he had previously never seen this in anyone other than those no longer using nicotine at all.

I think that may be what I am experiencing now... it makes sense. I vape right out of bed with my coffee and the past 2 days, get a tightness in my chest. Still vaping all day, it will go away and come back. I would think if a reaction to the flavor or either PG/VG, it'd be present all day. I do wish I could learn to stop inhaling! I knew a few people years ago that said quitting made them get pneumonia. Maybe moving 'junk" out that had been sitting there as I don't know if this was an official diagnosis or just what they felt they had.

I vaped a few years ago, first had 100% PG ejuice and couldn't breathe well. I tried 50/50 and did much better though still smoked, even though within days, I didn't enjoy the taste. I thought I needed to at certain times of the day, after meals, bedtime. This time around, I just decided I need to do this switch, started vaping again and haven't touched a cigarette in almost 5 weeks!

My experience was alot like the others have mentioned. I smoked cigarettes along with vaping for the first 2 weeks (until I ran out of a carton) and then I went to vaping only. It did take some will power and I did vape my way through the cravings. I was on 18mg from the get-go which seemed perfect for me, anything higher made me queasy. One thing you'll have to do is commit. It's ok to vape and smoke initially but at some point you need to make the choice if quitting is what you're after. By my 6th month I no longer had any cravings for cigaretts. Of course they got less and less prior to that cuz certain things would trigger a craving but I pulled through. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

I used both for a good while.
I didn't know about 90 percent of the equipment out there so I was trying with cigalikes and egos from October till March; and those things had me so aggravated I smoking twice as much. I was having a major vascular surgery done on March 10th where I would be stuck in the hospital bed for a week with no chance to get out the bed, moreless outside to grab a smoke; so, I went to a b&m in desperation and got an mvp2 with an aerotank along with a crash course on what vaping really is. I bought a bunch of juice and extra tank, extra coils, when I left and recovered from the sticker shock, I felt like I was prepping for the apocalypse. I smoked my last cig at 3 in the morning on March 10th. And spent the next week using the MVP as a pacifier. That thing only left my lips to refill the tank. When I got out the hospital, I discovered google, ECF and while new world of vaping. I searched and researched and finally, I bought a provari, a few RBAs and a mech/patriot.
Now I DIY my own juice and use the provari/kfl or provari/Taifun all day everyday and hit the mech to subohm once ins while; it's not really my thing but I use it to test my DIY Jude without needing a tank.
The trick, honestly, for most is finding what system works for you.
My wife spent about 8 months on blus with a Marlboro chaser. When I got my provari, she claimed ownership of the MVP/aero and hasn't smoked a cigarette since. She just upgraded to another innokin product with a tumblr and loves it.
Last night we were at a bar for a going away party and neither one of us had the urge for a cig we were happy vaping and drinking heavily.
Once you find what works for you, you'll have no problem putting them down.
I tend to advise people on the MVP/aero as a starter setup because it provides you with the ability to tailor every part of your vape to your liking; from the power of the unit by adjusting voltage and wattage to the toghtnes of the draw by adjusting the airflow. That whole setup can be bought at www.101vape.com for 60 bucks. 40 for the MVP and 20 for the aero. At first most people set the wattage around 7.5-9 watts and leaves it there till they are comfortable with adjusting itS the battery is huge at 2600mah, I was getting almost 2 full days on a charge. From the MVP you may grow into other vape gear as a lot of us have, some want high power, some mechs, i prefer the consistency of Provape. Not one product out there is for everyone, it's a growing experience and the MVP is a great place to start for Several reasons, it lets you slowly experiment with different styles of vaping without spending a ton of money.
Some people are happy with just the MVP, like my wife, thankfully. You just have to keep focused in what you like, so many people try to push there style of vaping on another person without taking into account what is best for you and what is going to make you successful at switching over.
Best of luck!!!

I bought a couple of cig-alikes in January 2012 but they didn't do it for me at all and ended up in a cupboard, though I did manage to cut right down on the analogs. Towards the end of 2013 I bought something slightly better and smoked and vaped for about 3 weeks and having finished a packet of cigarettes on 19 December 2013 decided not to buy any more. I came back on to ECF, found how much things had moved on, ordered 2 iTazte VV3s (and subsequently an MVP2) and haven't looked back (or smoked at all since 19 December) :)

Hey all, just curious if you just stopped analogs all together when u started vaping? I'm smoking a little less & am on 24 MG. I will literally chain vape & 10 minutes after I set it down I grab an analog even though It tastes like crap. I'm wondering if I should go up to 30 [my main juice vendor don't have 36] or add unflavored to get to 36. I honestly sometimes hate 24 as TH is strong in some juices. Also, by putting the nicotine & other crap in my body from the analogs that may play a factor in 24 seeming weak cuz you can't compare the 2. Or it should be the opposite, how can I chain vape 24 & smoke 10 minutes later? I wanna quit, that's the goal. I know this is so stupid cuz if I quit I would find out... Do you think I should order higher nic or are the analogs just putting that "stronger" nic in my body so 24 seems not enough? Hopefully this makes sense? So frustrating, not gonna give up.

I would not up your nicotine!,
Just my opinion.
With that said, i still smoke one pack a month.
What has really helped me was aromas wta. I vape aromas snickerdoodle with wta. It gives me the feel that cigarettes gave me.
When i buy cigarettes is when i run out of wta!
A 10ml lasts me a week. I only vape it when i feel like i want to smoke.

I also notice the more satisfying my juice flavor is, the less i want to smoke.
When i s tarted vaping swore i was sticking to cheap juices!
But i found the better quality and flavor of my liquid, the less i want a cigarette and the more i prefer to vape.

You said yourself, sometimes you hate vaping 24 mg.... So why would you want to continue...

I vape between 12 and 6 mg. some flavors just taste better at different mg.

A few weeks ago i was like you, chain vape, smoke, chain vape, smoke.
I remember for a long time i was at 10 cigs a day and until i tried wta i just couldnt get lower than that.

I suggest trying aroma, and i also suggest stepping down to 18mg or 12.

I was a newport smoker at a pack a day,
I started vaping September last year.
I smoked cigarettes for 24 years.
My family is amazed that im even down to a pack or less a month.

Good luck to you!

I was a slow quitter, at least in completely stopping smoking. By the end of the first week I vaped, I was down from 2 PAD to about 6 cigarettes a day. I was so impressed by vaping that I forgot to smoke. I did the two cigarettes with morning coffee and one after a meal thing for about 2 years. Then someone suggested that I smoke and vape after each meal and compare the taste of the two. I started doing that and the analog was nasty. It was like smoking dirty pinestraw. The vapor tasted really good.

Once I established that fact in my mind I was good with getting rid of the nasty cigs and just vaping. I finished the last pack I had and quit. It was pretty easy since I had reduced my smoking to almost nothing anyway. It was only a day or two until I had no more cravings. My wife still smoked at the time and I could sit and vape and it didn't bother me to smell the smoke from her cigarette.

That was two years ago and I haven't wanted a cigarette since. It's a matter of getting your mind wrapped around the fact that vaping gives you the nic you want without the bad stuff. After a month of vaping and not smoking, you are through with the addiction part of tobacco. It's the mental addiction and the hand to mouth part of the habit that lingers. Satisfy that with your ecig and life will progress into allowing you to be a non-smoker.
