The hex button gave me a callous on my palm.

Since I activate the button with the palm of my hand it's hard for me to get used to the hex shape too. I did a high polish on the SS, but ended up liking the circular satin finish better.

Round is definitely more comfortable for "hand activators".

That is awesome. I am trying to figgure out how to attach my button head to my dremel to turn the edges down.

You could find a metric screw that fits into the button top, but I wouldn't use a Dremel to round off the button. It will be extremely difficult to hold the file stationary enough to only hit the areas you want to remove. The file will want to move in and out; taking off metal you don't want removed.

It's safer to file off the hex points....here's the one I did in a rough stage of rounding.

Keep working it into round and down to the diameter you want. Use your fingers to tell how close you are getting. You can feel the bumps when you turn it. Then, use the micrometer to check the results. Anything to within .05mm is plenty round.

I am excited to get one of my 2012 buttons rounded and flattened. If all goes as planned, I should have it in the next couple of weeks dependent on the machine guys schedule.

It will be the last touch needed for my all stainless retro-Rev 1 GGTS modification of #8. The only thing eluding me from an outright copy of a Rev 1 is a steel bottom cap but the current steel one looks nice enough. :)
