I've been perusing the DIY Liquid forum but it's a little overwhelming. Mainly what I want to know is, if I'm doing 0 mg nic liquid, do I really need anything other than PG/VG, flavorings, bottles, and maybe a dropper for the flavoring? Im picturing just pouring a bottle half full ofPG, other half VG, a few drops of flavoring, shake and call it good. Is that not going to work?

If you're going to try it in this manner I would suggest making SMALL BATCHES to test. I make zero nic juice at 70vg/30pg and use syringes to follow recipes. It really isn't that difficult, like cooking or bartending, but you need the exact ingredients.

Here is a nice French site in english for recipes :
Le DIY pour les Nuls - Recettes DIY - Trucs et Astuces.

You'll also need one of these juice calculators:
eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator <--download I use
DIY E-Liquid Calculator Ten Flavors Plus PG/VG Adjusting <---online

It's going to work Fine.

And if you a Really Lazy, and your PG|VG Ratios don't change, you could make "Pre-Mix". Which is a Pre-Mixed Bottle of PG|VG (and maybe a little Water) in the Ratio that you like.

Then you Just pour Pre-Mix into a Small bottle and add Flavoring. Easy-Peasy.

You can Also use Pre-Mix with Recipes that call for Nicotine. As long as you mg/ml levels aren't Changing.

That's a good idea, all the juice I currently use is 50/50 so I could just buy a bottle of each in the same size and pour them into one bigger container. Tada!

Yes, it really is that easy! I don't make a premix, but basically I put however much flavoring(s) I want in a bottle, and then top it up with VG (I like the high VG). If I'm using less than about 25% flavor, I add a little distilled water to thin the VG, because it's still cold here (like you are) and the water helps it wick better. In the summer, I'll leave the water out.

I make some juice that has nic in it, but I always use 60ml bottles for my juice, so I know that I need .6ml of my nic base per mg of nic in the final juice. So if I'm making 1mg nic juice, I'll throw in .6ml of my nic base, and if I want 2mg nic, I'll put in 1.2ml of the nic base. And then finish filling the bottle with VG. It's EASY!!!! And so much less expensive than buying juice. Plus you get instant gratification. The other day, a friend of mine suggested a recipe, and since I had all the flavors, I mixed up a bottle and was vaping it five minutes later. I like that. :)

Yeah... My Thinking is Why Measure PG/VG Every Time you do a Recipe?

If your PG|VG ratio Isn't changing, just Measure it Once and then Rock n' Roll.

Yes.

Once or twice a week I pour some bottled water into a 120ml bottle, about 10% of the bottle.
Then fill it up with glycerin.
And that's my base mix for the week.

... will I need any sort of sweetener?

Depends on if you Like Sweet e-Liquids of Not.

I couldn't Imagine making a Fruit Mix or many of the "Brown Mixes" without some amount of Sweetener. But I like Sweet Flavors.

I like TFA Sweetener. Which is Pure Sucralose in a PG Solution. A Little goes a Long Way. And there is No Steeping Required. So you can just Add a Few Drops, Shake, and the Recipe Isn't Sweet Enough.

If you are going to be Buying Flavorings anyway, I would Include a 15ml Bottle of TFA Sweetener.

Oh yeah, I have a sweet tooth like crazy and that's pretty much all I vape. My favorite right now is cotton candy. What do you use for sweetener, and where's the best place to get it?

Oh geez, I don't know how I missed that last half of your previous message. Sorry. Thanks for the help, can't wait to get started. I may have to wait a week or two though, I've been buying a lot of e-cig related stuff and my husbands patience might run out soon lol!

No Worries.

And don't feel like you have to Rush Out and buy Dozens and Dozens of Flavors at one time. Sometimes Plodding Along buying a Few things here and there is Better. And Cheaper in the Long Run.

Oh, boy, are you in for a treat. Yes, it can be done like that, and it will work, but if you want repeatable recipes, measuring is useful. This need not be hard, nor expensive. Cheap 10ml syringes from the drug store or pet store or farm store or online work well for measuring. Juice calculators are free-- here's the one I use-- and handy for remembering what you did last time since you can save them. Empty juice bottles work well for storing your treasure, but glass, dropper top Boston Rounds work better, are available in larger sizes, and last longer. Not too expensive on eBay. You may or may not want a sweetener. I use some in practically all my juices. I, myself, use borosilicate lab glass for mixing and measuring, and I'm considering building a powered stirrer to make the job easier. But I also mix in pretty big quantities, too-- 500-1000ml, usually-- so you might not need the extra stuff. You can get by with a few syringes, a coffee cup and stainless spoon for stirring, and some old juice bottles.

I'm stoked! I thought about learning to build coils to save on costs (and maybe someday I will) but really, juice is what ends up costing a ton so if I'm saving that much making my own juice I can pretty easily justify 15 bucks for coils every couple months

from what I understand most of the flavoring are PG based, so if you're really OCD about your PG/VG ratio its a good idea to use some kind of online calculator.

check out e-liquid-recipes, super easy to use. was doing research when I wanted to attempt DIY but can't since I'm unable to source reliable parts.

I view both as an extension of the vaping hobby. I build my own coils, and make my own juice, because that way I get exactly what I want, and never have anybody to blame but myself :) You like Cinnamon? One of my favorites, and super easy to do, is 40%pg, 60%VG, 10% Flavor Apprentice Cinnamon Red Hots flavor. That one doesn't need any sweetener. It's the very first flavor I ever made, and I never adjusted the recipe, aside from occasionally changing the VG/PG balance.
