Is there any reason why one shouldn't use both EM and AP in the same juice? Do these additives interact with each other, or do they each just do their own job (i.e., smoothing/sweetening for EM and bakery body-boosting for AP)? For example, I'm making a blend of Capella's Vanilla Custard (with which I would normally use about 1.5% EM) and Capella's Graham Cracker (which might benefit from about .5-1% AP). I haven't received my AP from Wizard Labs yet, so I thought I'd ask before it came ...

They can be additive in the sweetness department, but each add other notes so experiment first. I would think you're on the right track there with em for the custard and ap for the graham cracker.

Is EM the only thing that will add moistness to the vape? I get such an awful dry tongue. I always add at least 3 to 4 drops of em to 10 ml in all of my concoctions. My mix is usually near 70 pg 30 vg with 10 to 12% flavor.

I substitute at least 50% (or more to taste) of the EM with Marshmallow(no particular vendor - they all work about the same)...that helps a lot with "dry tongue".

I also add a touch of saline solution to my concoctions (a drop or two of .9% saline solution (Cleanoz) into 10ml is all you need - You won't really taste the salt). Besides helping "moisturize" the juice, it helps make the flavors "pop" a bit more - especially in high-VG recipes.

Works for me....

The saline is an amazing goodness! Our "base" for almost everything we mix is now 80% VG with a 20% dilution (the 20% dilution is made up of 45% distilled water; 45% .9% saline; and 10% PGA). The flavors are much more *alive*, the dry mouth is lessened, and the final juice is MUCH easier on coils/wicks! The 'salt' (agree - we can't taste) is essential imo for certain flavors....particularly chocolate & bakery flavors

In the future, we'll be trying a dilution that's a higher percentage of the saline solution.

This is what we use: Saline Solution .9% 250ml ...but luckily, our local mom & pop pharmacy sell it for less than $5.00 for a liter!

Edit: Oh yes, I almost forgot...if you want a quick "tongue/mouth wetter-rejuvenator-cleanser-wiper", squirt an eyedropper full of .9% saline directly on your tongue! I rub it around with my fingers and then wipe it off with a paper towel real quick-like (if I don't do it quickly, the salt water makes me gag)...and then take a big drink of water to wash out any remaining salt. SeeyaBYE 'vapers tongue'! :)

OK, I'm convinced. I will add saline solution to the mix. This is an awesome thread. Thanks so much for the input.

I just discovered this thread and felt the need to bump it.

I've been trying (with not much success) at DIY lately, but I've been really disappointed. The flavorings smell great, but the actual vape, the *taste* itself, was lacking. Flat. Blah. Adding more flavoring and more sweetener (EM) only made things worse and actually sickeningly sweet.

My mother told me a long time ago that salt is necessary to bring out flavors, even in sweet dishes. Sweets are just *meh* without some salt.

I have yet to try adding saline (just found this tonight), but it surely can't be worse than what I have been doing the last several weeks.

Thank you, bonniegirl and others who recommended a little salt!

$5 per ltr is pretty cheap. is this the solution people use to clean contact lens? if this is just salt water, i wonder what the ratio of teaspoons table salt per ounce it is. seems like you could make it for pennies per pint.

I think you want it to be sterile so you probably don't want to make it yourself. On my last visit to our vet, I took an empty 30ml bottle and they filled it for me no charge. Of course I paid a $200 vet bill shortly thereafter.
